The Final Fallacy: If Witnesses Ruled the World
by metatron inafter all the disproofs and debunking of the watchtower society are done and its status as the "truth" is destroyed, we are left with one final.
argument supposedly in their favor: if the whole world was nothing but jehovah's witnesses, it would be a peaceful paradise.
this is the last argument that held me in the "truth" as an elder - inspite of all the lies and corruption i encountered in "jehovah's.

Some "Upbuilding" Thoughts
by watson inoh....the mindset of some of the brethren.
your opinion?
something to ponder isn't it strange how a 100.00 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you put it in the contribution box, but such a small amount when you go shopping?.

Isn't it strange how if your honest about your belief at a KH people may shun you? Isn't it strange how if you don't do as the crowd does people may judge you? Isn't it strange how Ray Franz wrote your divine literature? Isn't it strange how those who's lives your beliefs shunned have no voice from you that shows compassion? Isn't it strange how people isolated with no congregation or moral support are judged weak? Isn't it strange how those using their own god given mind choose not to knock on doors? Isn't it strange how you think you have Gods smile whilst others have his wrath? Isn't it strange how your view of the world is not gossip but truth? Isn't it strange how listening to others feelings helps you understand them? Isn't it strange how telling others your feelings helps them understand you?

Jephthah's daughter.
by Awakened07 ini suddenly remembered the story of jephthah's daughter, or rather, the way the watchtower interprets it.
the story can be found in judges 11, from verse 29. .
now the story loosely goes like this; jephthah wants to go against the ammonites and - as is par for the course - slay them all.

My take on this is that if the most superior of all life is God who knows he is LOVE in its purest form needs all that stuff in the Hebrew scriptures to prove His subjects love Him and then gives them a different load of life rules for the 21st century, does He really know what He wants or is he like a wife who thinks up the next thing after she gets a new outfit?

What's the big deal with Jesus' "sacrifice"?
by bluesapphire inwhat was the big deal with that dam tree to begin with!

And incredibly way more people have lived their whole lives generation after generation these past 2000 years without ever having heard of Jesus. If it was such a big deal God would ensure everyone knew! Christians seem to feel they have the hardwire to God simply because they happened to be amongst the ones having heard of him. Imagine what it must be like for you and all around to go from birth to death and never know the Bible. Pretty damn tricky eh - and that's because many of us have been conditioned/groomed on this stuff since childhood so that our minds see everything through 'Bible' colored spectacles.

Former Elders and Everybody- You Are Appreciated On JWD !
by flipper injust wanted to say to all you guys who were elders and everybody, at least for myself thanks for the help and assistance you have provided me since joining jwd !
i know when in the witnesses elders and all of us probably did not get the commendation we deserved for our efforts , and it was a thankless job for elders having to spew out cult influenced counsel from the governing body, especially if they disagreed with it.
i know i had bad dealings with elders when a witness because of unjust treatment not only of myself , but that of others , but want you guys here to know, i look at you as friends on a level basis now !

With communication comes understanding and a channel for compassion. It is why shunning is such a destructive ruling for human nature - period!

by Bryan inchildren with no choice, once again.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071115/ts_nm/russia_cult_dc_1.
moscow (reuters) - at least 30 members of a russian doomsday cult have barricaded themselves in a remote cave to await the end of the world and are threatening to commit suicide if police intervene, officials and media said on thursday.
"they have covered the entrance and refuse to come out and are threatening to blow themselves up," an official in the local prosecutor's office told reuters by telephone.

That is spot on Grammy. It is amazing how so many can all believe the same thing till you think about nationalism - then it is not so amazing - like Hitler's Germany. It is as though everyone human has an innate tendency to follow any leader with enough conviction to convince people he is divinely inspired. The set of rules are almost secondary. I always believed we as a species were more intelligent than to be over ruled by our own subconsciously evolved instincts but I'm more convinced that we are than by any other theories I hear, with the exception of love, which is why I hang onto it like a single barrel on a high sea!

That 1914 stuff is an interesting one. Maybe it will survive somehow for celebrations after Armageddon.

Egyptian sarcophogus made from foil covered polystyrene or similar to cover bed especially of elderly. It will keep you warm when you are living and save funeral costs when you die!
