by Miss 8572 inso hello everyone... i'm a brand new member and happy to be here... to know i am not alone.
i have been a jw since birth however i was never "encouraged"/forced to get baptised by my parents (lucky me!
) i always considered myself a member on the fringes of my congeregation and almost everybody treated me as a member even though i never commented or went in service.

After reading many topics.. I'm confused. Is this a JW forum or an ANTI-JW?
by MichaelM ini'm studying with a jehovah's witness and it makes quite a bit of sense but i've been reading many topics on here and it seems that i can find every christian denomination and every religion except jehovahs witnesses.
do any jw's actually browse here?
maybe i'm just getting unlucky and picking the wrong topics where everyones discussing about how they used to be jw's.

Welcome to the forum,
I used to be a witness but I left because I discovered that someone who has admitted to molesting a child can still have a position of responsiblity in the congregation. I think that that is wrong.
Unfortunatly you will be advised not to look up any other beliefs or ways of looking at things. The JW's believe that their organisation (aka the borg to us on JWD) is the only one to have god's approval and therefore everything that you need to know is in their publications, and you are really restricted to those when it comes to research.
Apparently their greek interlinear is quite good as it shows the original greek and you can see what words have been inserted to make their beliefs look correct.
I have just finished reading crisis of conscience (i borrowed it from my local library) it's very good, I would recommend it to you. It's written by someone who was a member of the governing body in NY and is very well written, gives you an idea of how things work and the history of the religion too. I never realised that the workings to get the date 1914 was from the Seventh Day Adventists?? (not too sure on the name) or other religious group.

Welcome aussie, sounds like you are having a real rough ride - you've invested over 2 years in this relationship only to find that his love is going to be conditional from now on. You need to have a serious think and then a serious talk. Are his family witnesses? It sounds like your parents and family will be there to support you through your problems.

Pass on my Congrats to your sister - and it's wonderful how the WTBTS adhere to their '2 Witness Rule', lol
No, no, no. The '2 witness rule' only applies to protecting child molesters, silly. Geez.how true crashfire. sad but true. but i still laughed! lmao

...VineYards and Zombies..
by OUTLAW ini had to go down to civilization on business..it was a beautiful morning for a trip..the sun was warm on the desert mountain roads, wildlife was everywhere.....as i came out of the mountains and into the valleys rolling hills, herds of horse`s and cattle were grazing in the fields.there were plenty of young horse`s and cows`s half the size of thier parents playing or sleeping..... farther down the highway,i could see the wineries and vineyards..this was a picture post card perfect day.....as you get closer to the city, small towns start to pop up..not much going on in them during the day, much less this early in the morning....as i get into the first town what do i see?..jw`s on the street corner`s with awakes and watchtowers..???..lol!
!..who do they think is going to see them?..the odd traveller passing through at 60kmh?..the cow in the field across the street?..i was friggin amazed, what a waste of time..i had to laugh....40 minutes later another small town..and..more jw`s on the street corner, this town was smaller than the last!..jw`s on every corner, all 4 of them..lol!
!..like the last town these were old jw`s,probably lived there all thier lives....there was a happy but glazed look on thier faces.they looked like young children trapped in old peoples bodys, playing a game they had played for decades.not really knowing why they do it anymore, but its something to do.....they no longer believe what they used to,back when i went to a kingdom hall..and..i doubt they really care.....dead to the life around them, waiting for a new system that will never arrive..but..they have something to do everymorning.stand on a street corner with the watchtower and awake in the middle of nowhere..and..watch cars go by...outlaw

where have i been?
by thebiggestlie inhello to all you folks in x-dub land......you may (or may not) have been wondering where i went to seeing that i simply dissapeared for a while..... i guess ive just been playin it safe by staying away from the "apostates"...i really am just trying to balance my family, my friends, my job, school and everything else into one easy to swallow package which i must say is almost impossible.. my mental state has been horrendous in the past few montths trying to figure out exactly what i believe and what i actually am going to do in this little thing called "life".
i suppose feeling insecure and stressed is pretty standard for a 17 year old like me.
adulthood is just around the corner and honestly im nott sure im ready to face it right now.

Pedophilia and self-policing
by buffalosrfree inrecent conversation with an elder from the borg stated that it is up to the person suspected of molestation to keep themselves from families with children.
even when they are known to be a past molester they the boe leave it up to them to self police themselves.
now isn't that kiknd of like puttihng the fox in the hen house and telling him not to associate or eat any hens?

I know when i first informed on my father that someone always used to follow him to the loo and stuff but i bet they don't anymore. policing yourself? that's like sticking a bottle of vino in front of an alco and trusting them not to drink! (thought i'd come up with another metaphor hehe)

Our Watchtower Study On obedience & submission
by dark angle inyesterday we have a study of the watchtower about obedience and submission.
this study arose a lot of questions and heightened emotions in me and the interested retired judge sitting besides me.
we came accross the 9th pharagraph, page 28 of the april 1, 2007, where it says that: "it is easy to obey when everything is clear and we agree, but we will show that we are trully submissive if we yeild even when we do not personally understand the direction provided.

I just looked that scripture luke 5:4,5 up and its when simon/peter had been fishing all night and jesus said lower your nets on the otherside.
surely the big difference is that only some money and maybe an empty belly until the next catch was at stake, not his entire livelihood and LIFE!!!
