HECCE- You make some really good points. It's so true that child molesters might get " disciplined " in the JW congregations- but many of them as you say walk around free as a bird without being prosecuted by authorities.
And in my opinion- therein lies one of the huge problems with elders not being instructed by the WT Society to do mandatory reporting to police of child abuse cases in their congregations. Your statement, " My impression is that SOME of the cases were not reported to authorities....... " . I would change that statement to " My impression is that MOST of the cases were not reported to authorities.... . "
And THAT is a huge reason that child molesters within this JW organization keep getting away with it. They get a minimal " slap on the wrist " , lose " privileges " in the congregation if they are just " reproved " , then work their way back up to being ministerial servants or elders again ! Or if they do get dfed , I've heard of cases where a child molester is reinstated 6 months or only 1 year later back into the " loving arms " of the " brotherhood " .
So how fucked up is that ? WT Society wants to be it's own judge, jury, and executioner - and they really don't want police authorities meddling at all inside their congregations. Have we also mentioned JW's are a mind control cult ? Now we see how that's so true.
RATTIGAN - Comparing what your girlfriend did to you as an adult as compared to what children suffer being abused as children- is disrespecting the pain and horror of child abuse. I'm quite sure you didn't suffer from your girlfriend. Let's be real here.
DOCTOR WHO- I'm sorry you knew so many who were hurt and molested. I knew a lot too who were hurt. And as you said , it was most times always swept under the carpet within the JW organization and the Catholic organization. Disgusting.
VIDIOT- So true the points you make. With the huge number of pedophiles and molesters within the JW organization, we all knew someone most probably who was a serial molester. After exiting the organization I checked on the California registered sex offenders list- and out of 1,000 molesters in the town I was raised up in as a JW - I recognized 12 JW's or ex-JW's I knew on that list from my 25 years in my hometown. Sick.
I worry about my grandson constantly, knowing he's being raised in this mind control cult where it's members are told to be too trusting of " brothers & sisters " . Yep. Mental gymnastics here of a wealthy " sometimes " JW. She'll have sex out of wedlock to bring a child into the world( which would get her DFed as a baptized JW ) , yet in her twisted view it's wrong to honor her own child's life by celebrating her child's birthday. Is it any wonder that most people associated with WT or JW beliefs are so fucked up ?
What's worse is WT Society won't blink an eye at what Serena Williams does or doesn't do - as long as she keeps most probably donating some of her millions $$$ to the WT Society and " worldwide kingdom work " , uh, I mean " pedophile defense fund " .

DOUBTER- Ask yourself why your reasoning is all black & white. Either " this " - or " that "
Reason on this : WT leaders can order their own appointed elders in these document destroying seminars to get rid of any incriminating evidence that elders have in their local congregations so as to protect WT leaders from litigation and lawsuits worldwide.
But that doesn't mean WT leaders will follow their own advice with any information that THEY personally have on child molesters within their own legal department information. WT leaders trust themselves to keep and sit on that database file under lock and key - however - they do NOT trust the worldwide " brotherhood " of elders Mr. Tom, Dick, or Harry elder in who knows what god forsaken country exposing them to lawsuits.
Thus the need for further damage control over elders who might squeal to news media, police authorities, etc. - just make a policy enforcing all elders to destroy any incriminating evidence in congregation files.
I don't get how you don't understand WT leaders would require elders to do that- but they would not expect the same of themselves. The elders are under the Governing Body- what the GB says, the elders do. Even if the GB don't do it. Example : Many GB members don't go out in field service, but expect publishers & elders to knock on doors. Get my drift ? Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I totally understand my friend. I was once where you are. It was easier for me to express my pissed off attitude towards the WT Societies child abuse policies- because I didn't learn about WT child abuse violations until several years after I had stopped attending in 2003. I agree with Vidiot. The most damning, dangerous video in the article is played by clicking the link about destroying all records of WT information that could get WT Society in trouble legally. There's a three and a half minute video everybody here should really watch showing the England WT Society record management overseer Shawn Bartlett giving an actual instruction class to elders on how and why they should destroy any damning handwritten notes, evidence, communication , etc. in elders possession because it could cost the WT Society as he put it in one instance hundreds of thousands of $$$$ !
So any of you exiting JW's - here me clear on this - your donations were all going to enable the WT Society to be a criminal organization . WT leaders are giving these NEW instructions in training schools apparently to save themselves millions $$$ in child abuse lawsuits and are destroying valuable evidence that will incriminate them in criminal conduct enabling pedophiles within the JW organization.
Can anybody say 1984 by George Orwell ? In that book the organization did the same thing by destroying incorrect assertions and destroying false doctrines by incinerating them in a furnace and tried to claim to it's followers that none of that evidence ever existed !
WT Society is doing the same here. By destroying written documentation on child abuse cases they had, WT is attempting to purge themselves of any evidence that they knew about these child abuse cases in the first place so they won't be held liable in courts. MINIMUS- Yeah, I don't know what happened to the guy or " brother " as we used to call them- who sounded the alarm . I wasn't an elder, so there was no way for me to know if he had been talked to by the elders for sounding the alarm about the child molester. But whether he was talked to - or not , it's a moot point. He was still a hero in my eyes for sounding the alarm publicly to all the parents in the congregation about this child molester. I hope the elders just left him alone- but you know how elders are always concerned about outward appearances, how things look- instead of real justice and truth being accomplished. Years ago I attended a new congregation where there was a child molester who had been getting away with it for over 30 years while molesting at least 7 victims.
One day after the WT study concluded , a middle aged " brother " ( not an elder or MS ) ran up to the stage and grabbed the microphone from the WT elder conductor and screamed into the microphone to the audience of over 150 that " brother so and so sitting over there is a child molester and has molested 7 children through the years. If you love your children you'll protect them from him ! " He was pointing at the molester in the audience.
The WT elder conductor grabbed the microphone from the " brother " and told the audience " brothers & sisters we are handling this situation as elders right now so it's being taken care of . " So long story short- the molester DID get dfed and he did go to jail for his crimes. However his JW wife stayed married to him and would visit him in prison. Weird.
But the " brother " who had the courage to inform the congregation became my new hero ! It took a lot of courage to do what he did ! And it wasn't until some years later that I understood how the elders try to hide this child abuse from the congregation - and I came to understand WHY this " brother " felt the need to expose this child molester to the rest of the congregation. The elders sure weren't going to inform JW parents about the molester ! So this guy took it upon himself to do so. Impressed the hell out of me even when I was still a JW . Peace out, Mr. Flipper
