  california state senators and assembly members please introduce draft bill (rn 1803892) to reform california's clergy "penitent communication" privilege statutes to align with appellate court decisions by february 16, 2018.. since 2018 is an election year, this bill will help voters become more informed about politicians' positions on changing societal and institutional cultures by reforming california statutes to prevent child abuse or child sexual abuse, or civil statute of limitation reform in california in 2019.. this bill is intended to increase public safety, prevent abuse survivors from being re-traumatized in religious disciplinary meetings, prevent religious leaders from using "undue influence" to manipulate individuals and discourage reporting of abuse and neglect, and reduce court costs passing judgment on overly broad interpretations of clergy "penitential communication" privilege that attempt to shield a religion or clergy from not fulfilling their duty to report abuse and neglect in california.. thank you,.

  I feel like I am going crazy at times ...

  good evening , .

  i feel like i am going crazy - it’s so hard not being able to talk to the ones i love about how i really feel - meaning the “ truth “ is a big lie and a big waste of time.

  it’s so weird - i can’t talk to my wife , or kids about how i really feel and it’s causing me probalms that i recognize.

  COVERTS- Man, I really feel for you bro. When I started having doubts about JW's in my first marriage with my JW wife , my kids were 13, 11, and 10 , a little older than your kids , but not much. We separated not long after that. Then divorced. As others have said here- there is no easy way to play the pretend game. First off- it's unhealthy physically & emotionally on you, your mate, and our kids are smarter than we think- they can feel the tension in the family atmosphere.

  That being said if you are hoping to stay with your wife and kids for the long haul , I suggest not discussing any JW topic with your wife or your wife's family. Anything you say can or will be used against you by the " court of judicial committee's " if you get my drift. I know one thing some folks have done on the board here is follow Steve Hassan's advice ( he's a cult exit counselor ) when we are stuck in a family of cult members and they take time to do lots of activities away from the kingdom hall with the family. Activities that have nothing to do with JW's, WT, or anything religious.

  For instance - ask yourself, what hobbies or activities does your wife enjoy doing that has nothing to do with the Witnesses ? Does she enjoy shopping ? Going to movies ? Bicycling, walking, going to parks or nature walks with you and the kids ? Do either of you like music ? Going to an outdoor concert ? Even growing a vegetable garden in the back yard ? I'm grasping at straws here- but you get the point. Any activity that you can engage in with them that will take up your wife or your children's time and get them into thinking in terms of reality in the here and now can be a positive influence to their too narrow JW world views. It gets their mind thinking on other things than only JW things.

  Just a suggestion buddy. Some have tried this and it has helped. All the while telling your wife and kids you love them and that you enjoy doing these things with them. If your wife is a hardcore JW , it probably won't get her out of the cult- but it will help make your existence and your relationship with her and the kids easier than just looking at it as a " good guy / bad guy " situation. You and your family could actually have some bonding doing non-JW activities ! Isn't that a hell of a concept ! ? lol.

  i've had an email from a sister who tells me that out in field service this morning a long standing route call has told them she won't be taking any more magazines and doesn't want them calling on her again because she has heard about the jws child abuse scandals and cover ups.

  she was quite angry with them and said your elders say there is nothing wrong but there is and it will all come out.. this is the first time anyone i know of has been challenged on the doorstep and they were absolutely shocked and also angry.

  angry that the organization is not preparing them for dealing with this and for not being honest with the brothers about what is going on ie: lawsuits etc.. just thought i'd share that with you..

  PHOEBE- Excellent experience, thanks for sharing. I don't know how long you have been out of the JW organization , but the caution Desirous of Change mentioned is in order only if you care what JW's think of you . If you are totally out and not trying to keep any JW relationships- - then yeah - by all means keep assisting this JW lady and help her to see the corruption and crimes happening within the WT organization. Great job ! Keep it up ! I feel as time goes by more and more JW's are going to start waking up after people of the real world start throwing the WT child abuse in their face.

  The Internet is chalk full of quotes, you tubes, and information indicting WT leaders about their negligence regarding child abuse. The more JW's are informed about this- all the better ! Great job Phoebe ! Keep it up ! And a big thanks to Pete Zahut for finding that Stephen Lett you tube with his weird statement regarding child abuse

  i`m sure you have all noticed the ever increasing number of newbies and lurkers who have visited this site over the past months and i am sure we could all collectively welcome them to this site and support them on learning the ttatt .

  and helping them to navigate how they can look up older publications and quotes of the wtb&ts that they would rather remain hidden.. we all know jehovah`s witnesses /governing body never apologizes for mistakes they make they just don`t mention them anymore and explain it away as new light from god.. actually a big cop out.. welcome to all you who are new to this site .. every day their seems to be someone new posting which is great .. and if this is any indication of what is happening in all other ex jw sites the wtb&ts are in deep trouble .

  i grew up in the jw faith / cult - .

  i can’t prove i am a better person because of it , but in some ways i can prove how it has damaged me.

  I've always gotten the old excuses from my JW relatives when they try saying, " Well, even if the promises of the paradise and living forever weren't true- it's still the best way to live ! "

  And I'm like - " no it's not ! " The WT Society steals these people's money, gives them false hopes, prevents them from getting a college education, allows them to die if they need a life saving blood transfusion, doesn't protect their children from roving pedophiles in many congregations who could molest their children, and forces them to spend 90 % of their waking existence marketing the WT Society BS corporate message to the public ! Where in the world is there any time left for personal growth for children ? There is no time allowed for it. These young children become JW robots programmed to walk and /or jump off a cliff for WT Society leaders. It's disgusting
