These U2 songs I'm posting are off the 2014 CD titled Songs of Innocence for your information. In my opinion , it's one of U2's most inspiring albums in years.
Here's another cut off that album :

When I think about some of my JW family I relate to this song by U2

Every time I hear that song Iris I think about my dear mom who died a year and a half ago. Bono of U2 wrote that song about his own mom who died. The words in it about his mom are so true to form of the type of mom I had as well. A mom who empowered me to be the best I can be, and always advocated for me. I get tears every time I play it. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

... well, obviously not rey (daisy ridley) from the latest star wars films.
she's a complete mary sue.
but, before hollywood tried to force sjw propaganda down our throats, there were lots of powerful, legit female characters in film.. here are some of my favourites .... ripley (sigourney weaver): i though this character was great.
Is this a Star Wars thread or Favorite female heroes film stars thread ? But I digress.
Nobody has mentioned Meryl Streep yet. One of my favorite actresses. Played a great hero in Silkwood, also exposing the pedophile priest in the movie Doubt. She's played lots of parts where she was a strong woman, hero parts.
Also even though she's older Sally Field played lots of hero parts like Norma Rae . There's been some really great actresses through the years. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
after i awoken from the cult, i went through the normal process of not knowing who i was and what my tastes where.
looking back this was a wonderful time in my life because i experimented and tried different things and now i like or dislike things because i personally like/dislike them - not because i've been told they're good or bad.. black pudding is an example - it's made of blood and is a popular addition here in britain to fried breakfasts.
i tried it for the first time last year and i can confirm that it is indeed revolting.
I've always collected music since I was about 12 years old, even being raised up as a JW
As I got older and exited the cult I expanded my tastes into many different blues artists other than just straight rock n roll. I love a wide variety of music from rock, reggae, blues, folk / rock , some jazz, and some heavy metal & alternative.
I'm a huge fan of these artists : Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Neil Young, Jethro Tull, Donovan, Tom Petty, David Bowie, Rolling Stones , Jimi Hendrix, J.J. Cale , Moody Blues, all the old bluesmen : Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy . The list goes on and on.
I've liked many of these rock groups since I was a kid, but have expanded my interests into the blues since exiting the cult over 15 years ago. Music is a healer and I will continue to listen to other artists and play and create music myself for the rest of my life. Ain't no cult gonna ever stop me from doing that anymore. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
this is bigger than christmas and birthdays wrap into one.
thanks to the australian royal commission our youngest son has woke up.
we received a e-mail from him tonight where he apologized to us for shunning us all these years, how bad he felt for doing this.
STILL TOTALLY ADD- You are very welcome my friend, glad to be there for anybody exiting this damaging organization. We all needed support when we exited, and some folks never received support at all since all their relatives were JW's. We all help each other. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
with much amusement i read the thread on women parking lot attendants and it got me to thinking about life at home for the average jw.. i believe i am correct in thinking that anything to do with jw-ism requires a penis, except all the leg work (fs & pioneers).
meaning the mic's, talks, etc... but yet the same guy who thinks his wife (or any other woman) is not bright enough to run the sound system for example doesn't mind his wife hauling hay, digging in the yard, managing the checkbook and other various physical jobs as well as jobs that do in fact require a brain larger than that of a gnat?.
let's say a guy is a bit technologically challenged but he can manage the sound system at the kh ok. i imagine he feels proud that he is getting to do this great privilege?
CARLA- Great thread. How JW men justify their views in one word is called DENIAL>
de Nile ain't just a river ! lol. I knew so many JW pompous men , mostly elders who considered themselves " legends in their own minds " - who thought they knew everything, but treated their JW wives like dirt. When in fact, as you say those JW wives many times were much more brilliant and accomplsished than their husbands.
Another thing that causes this justification of " superiority " within JW men is the WT indoctrination they get from the top of the organization. It's drilled into them to look at themselves as " the head " of the woman- right or wrong, good or bad. WT Society even drills into their heads about " believing " women who try to " win over their unbelieving husbands " by being " submissive " . So this whole submission crap is a patriarchal, Bible thumping that even mainstream religions install into brain neurotransmitters of " Christian " communities, including JW's.
It's such a farce and crock of shit because many a man on this planet has USED this indoctrination to abuse women emotionally, mentally, physically, and sexually. And it's absolutely tragic. Just another big reason I am not a Christian. Not only do men abuse this authority in families, but they abuse it in many different kinds of organizations- whether it be political, religious, business organizations. It truly is a rampant problem in our society. And they are losing lots of young people in the JW organization these days due to the archaic old time views. Peace out, Mr. Flipper
i got invited as a +1 to someone's house yesterday to watch the fireworks.
i'd never met the hosts, and it seemed that most of the people in the group only knew one or two other people there.
yet i felt more genuine friendship from everyone there than i ever felt at any jw gathering.
ONE EYED JOE- Your opening post on your thread is SOOO...... true. I've experienced the same thing these last 15 years of being out . So many nice people out in the real world. Of course there are assholes too, and a person has to be careful, but for the most part people are far less judgmental than any of the JW's I use to attend kingdom halls with. People see us for who we REALLY are as a person, not who they WANT us to be, and at least that's one major difference. Real, sincere people don't try to manipulate us and mold us into somebody we are not. They accept us for who we are and what we bring to the table in ways of conversations, viewpoints, etc.
I'm glad you had a great time ! Cool ! Take care buddy, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
