PALE - " it just looks and reads so culty " . Precisely. That's what we are dealing with here- a dangerous mind control cult called WT Society AKA Jehovah's Witnesses . Just as much a cult as Scientology, Warren Jeff's Mormon's , or People's Temple. The control is just as extreme , but a bit more subtly applied so JW members won't notice it as much

Try Not To Vomit When You Read Todays Text
by pale.emperor intuesday, february 27. let the elders who preside in a fine way be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching.—1 tim.
5:17.. those related to us in the faith certainly merit honor and respect.
this is especially true of the elders who are taking the lead.

Interesting thread Pale. Years ago as a JW I did try to respect these elders, but they made it very difficult to do so. The statement in the text - " Those related to us in the faith CERTAINLY MERIT HONOR AND RESPECT " . This is ESPECIALLY true of the elders..."
I found that to be a mostly false statement. Many times I saw elders not deserving one ounce of respect due to their unjust and cruel actions towards members of the congregation ; or even actions taken against their own children , or wives. They lost my respect years ago when I saw their hypocrisy when I was a young man in my 20's in the 1980's. Many times I saw no evidence of " hard work or humility " - just a sense of entitlement, power , prestige and being a member of the " good old boys " club. Of which I wanted nothing to be a part of

I mean how criminal and slave holding is THIS statement > " To turn over to the local congregation of the Order ALL income received from ANY work or PERSONAL efforts in excess of my necessary living expenses , unless released from this vow by the order. "
Jesus Christ ! WTF ? This is worse than indentured servants ! At least some of them got land in the late 1600's or early 1700's to show for their efforts ! This is horrific, I swear. There is absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever with calling WT Society leaders slaveholders in my opinion. It's disgusting. Pisses me off

They are all dead!
by Sour Grapes inthe watchtower company and the jdubs talk so nonchalantly about the year 1914, the year they say jesus became king in the heavenly kingdom.
they talk about the year like it was just a short time ago.
the invisible king began ruling in the invisible kingdom.

"Thank God I'm Athiest" podcast. Episode #325. So similar to JW experiences!
by stuckinarut2 inepisode 325 of "thanks god i'm athiest" has a great segment that is so reminiscent of jw judicial committee judgement!.
starting at approx.
51 minute mark, the guys highlight the example of a mormon lady who faced their equivalent judicial judgement for "apostasy" for "not being obedient, and negatively speaking publicly" about her ordeal.. it also highlights the culture of their insular community (so similar to jws insular community!).

Th WT cult's definition of what they consider a legitimate " generation " is false, untrue. It is not a lifetime of 70 to 100 years. That's a lie. An unreality. So that negates and discredits any predictions they make whatsoever even about what they consider a generation to be.
Websters New World College Dictionary definition of the word generation :
A single stage or degree in the succession of natural descent / father and son are two generations . The average period ( about 30 years ) between the birth of one generation and that of the next .
So all the debating and wrangling over how legitimate the WT Society's views on what they consider a " generation " to be - are a waste of time as the WT Society is lying about what constitutes a REAL generation. Whether they're talking about one generation - or - overlapping generations - they are STILL in the wrong. A real, legitimate generation is only 30 years long. So that makes ALL of the WT Society's end time predictions wrong, a joke, and dishonest

This brother " committed several murders and crimes before his baptism " .
" As elders , you have no obligation to reveal information of this type to authorities. "
Uh-huh. So if said murderer goes ape shit and kills everybody in the congregation or attacks children no big deal, right ?
It's letters from WT headquarters like this that expose Jehovah's Witnesses as a criminal organization, aiding and abetting criminals themselves. Disgusting

PALE- Your statement - " They ( your mom & other JWS ) just assume she's not going to meetings for a bit but will " come to their senses " . And that is what's part of the problem here. Your mom and her sissy husband with no backbone are being intrusive into your ex-wife's boundaries and your children, and by extension your boundaries - by trying to " save " your wife by being " supportive " to her and I'm sure part of the motive is to keep JW control over your wife and children.
The other posters here are correct. This is between you and your ex-wife. I would stop getting into it with your JW mom as your mom will manipulate the situation to align herself in a more deeply entrenched way with your ex-wife and child. You need to have a one on one talk personally face to face with your ex-wife to sort this out and attempt to get her on the same page with you- avoiding your mom's interference. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck to you my friend. Been there, experienced this with my JW ex-wife years ago. It sucks man
