Boyfriend force me to study the bible or no marriage

my boyfriend, who is a disfellowshipped jehova's witness, asks me to study the bible for 3 months or he won't marry me (i'm a muslim woman).

he loves me and really wants to marry me but he is doing a passive blackmailing: if i don't study for 3 months, 1 time per week, in my home country, and without him, there will be no marriage... as a muslim, i believe the bible is god's word so i look at the bible from time to time and would be happy to study with him.

but the fact that he is kind of saying "study the bible or bye bye no marriage" is really hurtful.

Your questions : Should I be submissive and study the Bible in order to get married while he doesn't even want to look up some info about my religion ? NO you should NOT be submissive. Your boyfriend is mentally abusive and trying to dominate you. Dump this boyfriend and find a man who truly looks at you as an equal and doesn't dominate or control you.

Your other question : Or keep trying to convince him to compromise a little bit and look at some info about my religion which is Islam ? NO again. Jehovah's Witnesses do not compromise on any of their beliefs. You are beating your head against a brick wall by trying to convince this boyfriend to listen to you.

Hear me now - carefully- if you respect YOURSELF and don't want a life where your prospective husband dominates or abuses you mentally, emotionally, or physically , RUN LIKE HELL from a boyfriend like this, I don't want to see you live with regret. Find yourself a good man who values your opinions and sees you as his equal, not a slave or " lesser " person. You asked for my opinion- I've given it to you. it is disturbing--and i think inexcusable--that many people take the opportunity to use horrible tragedies such as this to push their own particular agenda.. in particularly insensitive and tone-deaf tweet, conservative political commentator tomi lahren wrote: "can the left let the families grieve for even 24 hours before they push their anti-gun and anti-gunowner agenda?

Exactly. Think of Ted Bundy as one example of that. A psychopathic killer who everybody thought the world of and just coddled him and pampered him until he murdered all those women. Not one person ever called him on his shit. You are correct- more people in the lives of these mass murderers need to be more adept at noticing symptoms of anger and rage and then making sure these threats to society are either put into serious counseling or if need be an institution, or disciplined by authorities of some kind to prevent them from murdering and taking more innocent people out

Is it a Gun Issue or a Mental Illness Issue or Both?

we have had another shooting.

many are blaming trump and the republicans and the nra.. is it because of guns that there are so many massacres or could it be that these killers are mental?.

do you think guns should be removed from our society so that these atrocities never occur again?

It's both issues, it's not all this , or not all that. It's not black and white, it's shades of gray with a lot of variables involved. Some of which involve the government, some of which involve mental health.

In regards to the government we have the nice cushy wealthy congressmen to thank for being so closely in bed and aligned with the NRA as many of these congressmen received 3 to 4 million $$$ in donations from the NRA to get re-elected . Trump received over 20 million $$$ from the NRA. So let me ask you : Do you think this administration is going to do ANYTHING about gun regulation ? Not with the NRA in their back pocket. I truly believe that until one of these wealthy congressmen's own kids is killed by an AR- whatever the fuck they are- that these high powered assault weapons will continue on the market.

Hey I believe in 1st amendment rights, but what deer hunter needs a high powered assault weapon that they use in the military to kill humans in order to get a deer for his or her meal ? These high powered assault guns used in these mass killings should not be sold to the public, period. There are many other types of guns that gun owners can use and attain.

In regards to the mental health issue. Hell yes the FBI dropped the ball in this particular situation ; but so did the United States military when they failed to warn authorities about the freaky nutcase ex-military guys criminal record who shot up the church in Texas a few months ago killing over 30 people. There's plenty of blame to go around here- and it's not a pretty picture of how our own government is NOT doing enough to protect us as citizens of this country. How many more children and teenagers have to die before government officials wake the hell up ?

More checks and balances should be put into effect regarding gun sales and background checks. So an increase in checking people's backgrounds and restricting high powered assault type weapons would help some. And restrict the fat cats in Washington from accepting blood money from the NRA which keeps preventing politicians from doing the ethical, moral thing- to re-vamp gun regulation laws.

Remember back in the early 1970's when the Kent State killings shocked all of us ?

WTF has happened since then ? Is this normal life now that our kids have to dodge fucking bullets just to get an education ? Not a world we want our young ones to experience. We didn't have this shit happening as much when we were kids.

Find Family Happiness ... NOT!

the other day my wife and i were in sonoma.

we were just walking around enjoying the pleasant afternoon in the quaint, old downtown area when i saw two jw women standing by their “witnessing cart.” .

normally, i just ignore them whenever i see jws standing by a cart, but i gotta admit it: this time it really bugged me because of the title on the cart: find family happiness.

JP- I totally empathize with you. The WT Society and JW religion has split my family in two over the years where for a long while it used to be 50 % of my family were JW's ; 50 % of us were out. Now since several older JW's died these last couple years I'd say it's about 65 % of us not in it and 35 % remain JW's.

But the damage and division have been done. I have two adult JW daughters who totally shun me and my son, their brother. I have a two year old grandchild I'm not allowed to see. If I had a rocket launcher I'd shove it up some GB members ass and they'd have an enema they'd never forget.

I have confronted and spoken with JW cart people as well after my mom died and told them that my parents were " lied to by your organization that they'd live forever. After 65 years in the JW cult they died- no " paradise " , no " living forever " . " I told these JW's they were wasting their time living for a pipe dream and to live in the here and now because they are trusting in an unreality. Gave them something to think about.

I felt you did fine in venting. You made them think. I get the same agitated feeling like you do whenever I walk by these JW cart people. Makes you want to turn their carts over like Jesus did the money changers in the temple ! lol. But hey, they're blind , but you never know if something we said might sink into the cracks of seepage into their mind controlled neurotransmitters. You just never know. Good job. Great thread Pale Emperor - thanks for posting it. I agree with you that in so many different ways this direction from the WT Society leaders to JW's to turn off their critical thinking is extremely dangerous.

I feel the WT Society has already accomplished this objective by telling JW's to " donate to the worldwide fund or kingdom interests " . Like Freedom Rocks said at the top of the page, " Another option is GB telling everyone to sell everything they have and give it to the society and then they'll just disappear with the money . "

I do believe that's a more likely scenario because there's just no transparency whatsoever from the WT Society as to where and what exactly all these JW " donations " are being used for. " Worldwide fund or kingdom interests " could easily be used for the legal defense fund against lawsuits for JW child abuse lawsuits. And not one JW would be made aware of that.

Imagine you are a JW contributing funds for the Puerto Rico hurricane victims , and later unknown to you these funds are used to defend and protect the WT organization's child molesters. Or your funds are unknown to you- put in some offshore bank accounts for a rainy day fund on the Cayman Islands to protect the WT Society.

Deception has been a part of this WT organization since 1879. It's part of their mode of operation, not with just failed predictions of " end times " - but snake oil salesmen like C.T. Russell selling " miracle wheat " - which once again caused International Bible students to turn off their critical thinking. Unfortunately mind control cults are as old as the history of man. Governments, religions, marketing of those and of businesses - all zero in on the unsuspecting consumer who get's duped. Very sad, but it's reality. One reason threads like this are great- to make people aware and wake the hell up

This experience wasn't from the platform - but an elder's wife told my mom when I was a young boy that she and her husband wouldn't go see the movie " The Sound of Music " because it had Catholic's in it. This was in the 1960's. My mom told this elders wife that her opinion was ridiculous and that she would see the movie as it didn't bother my mom one bit. My mom was such a kick ass lady- I really miss her. She stood up for her personal rights constantly. And she stood up for my rights all the way to the end of her life. Hell of a mom she was
