Well, I was wrong - Houston didn't win it in game 6 , but they did win it all in game 7. I just felt Houston had a lot more powerful hitters than L.A. who could knock the cover off the baseball. Home runs traveling over 460 feet . Amazing. Usually great pitching beats great hitting ; but not this year. These Houston players were a powerhouse for sure. I don't think any team would have beat them. Congratulations to Houston for beating my Giants rivals the Dodgers ! This will be a great pick me up for the Houston area after going through so much sadness and devastation from Harvey -

Faced with the reality of mortality
by stuckinarut2 inhow have you all coped with facing the reality of our mortality?.
most of us were raised to firmly believe we would never get old or die... so here we are now having to face the reality that are getting older... we are going to die.. sometimes it really pisses me off that we were never helped to comprehend this most basic of facts.
we were given a utopian dream as a "fact", and hence never taught how to face our inevitable futures.... thoughts?.

STUCK IN A RUT- Great thread and topic, and I really hear you, really empathize as I was born & raised a JW from birth until exiting 14 years ago at age 44 in 2003. I have felt your same anger towards the WT Society about this fake " living forever " teaching ; but I've felt more anger over this on behalf of my aged JW parents who died this last year at 91 and 89 years old as they wasted over 65 years in this criminal organization Jehovahs Witnesses. I get so pissed off about their having been duped - that I actually brought it up to the JW cart people before telling them not to waste their lives and that my parents were lied to.
I started having doubts about the " living forever " thing some years before I exited the cult so what I started doing then while still a JW and what my mantra is now is that I live in the here and now constantly. I live every moment, everyday like it might be my last and I don't take living in the here and now for granted. I stop and smell the roses in my life along the way instead of always being in such a hurry as to not notice just a simple, beautiful sunset, peaceful time sitting on my deck at our mountain home feeling the breeze on my face drinking a beer enjoying my wife's company, our cats or dog ; simple things matter . While sitting on my deck that's the time songs will come to me, and I get my guitar out and just start writing thoughts out that swim around in my head while picking different chords on the guitar and before I know it- a song starts evolving !
It's moments like these that I've come to appreciate on a daily basis. I stay busy working at our property cutting wood, tending the vegetable garden we have, and being thankful for what I DO have in my life, not worrying about what I cannot control - like " living forever " which is an unreality. At the end of our life all we can really do is to hopefully try to look back with no regrets and try to be happy with the good friends we've made, the love we have spread out to those friends and received it back again to ourselves. What were the Beatles last words on the Abbey Road album ? " And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make. " So if we keep sending out love to people we consider friends who are important in our life ; making love in many different ways , we will receive that back many times in ways we didn't expect. I guess it's constantly having this view that keeps me positive. I get down like everybody ; but I try not to let it dominate me or define who I am. That's all I can say Stuckinarut. Enjoy life while you have it my friend. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

JAMES- I don't know what all the spitting is about- but if the Dodgers don't win game 6 tomorrow night- there will be no game 7 - Houston will be world champions . If I was a Dodger pitcher, I would not want to pitch to most of those Astros hitters, my god are they ever powerful. I wish the S.F. Giants would get at least one player who could hit 25 homers a year and drive in 100 runs. I'm leaning towards Houston winning it all tomorrow night behind Verlander pitching. Should be exciting

CHA CHING- My dear friend, you have nothing to say " I'm sorry " over . I wasn't referring to you in my post. I'm referring to some on this thread who want total proof before even considering this child abuse suspect as possibly guilty. I'm more concerned that some think they have to qualify or verify everything they do- every single moment of a 24 hour day. Personally, I have more important things to do than follow someone on Twitter or Facebook 24 /7 . If someone like Flipper or Fisherman or anybody here needs to use the restroom - I don't need to VERIFY it - I trust that ' allegedly ' they were successful in their restroom adventure . I don't need verification for every single event on the planet. That kind of thinking is ' crazy making ' .
The point I was making is in my initial post the fact that this elder is being brought up on charges for child abuse and I made the remark, " here we go again " - my remark was misinterpreted by some here and what my remark MEANT was that "here we go again " meaning it is way too prevalent and commonly happening within the JW organization. This abuse of power by child molesting elders. It's all I meant. I agree with everything you wrote. My issue is not with you

The " hear we go again " remark I made has more to do with the worldwide prevalence and high volume in numbers of Jehovah's Witness elders and authority figures in that religion being brought up on charges of child molestation all the time ! Like ," oh no, here we go again." It's a common crime being committed way too often within Jehovah's Witnesses and an abuse of power by JW elders. THAT is why it's important to stand up for children and speak truth to power.
My comment was NOT an indicator that the FINAL court decision had been MADE in this particular case. My apologies, but I'm not a freaking journalist who gets paid to print or put out articles for the New York Times, Washington Post where I feel the need to put an " allegedly " behind every statement I make. Nor feel a need to " qualify " every statement I make. So I wasn't going to write " here we go again, allegedly " - I mean if we as humans had to qualify or put " allegedly " behind every damn thing we say how would folks like it if I stated , " Mr. Flipper took a crap this morning " ? Would they get as upset about that as not putting an " allegedly " behind whether a child molester has committed child abuse - a felony crime ? I mean I could write, " Mr Flipper ' allegedly ' took a crap this morning and it would be more accurate . Would THAT please the court of opinion as no one was THERE to see if Flipper actually had a bowel movement.
I'm giving this example to show how stupid it is to argue semantics. Part of the definition of semantics is looking at the contextual meaning of what somebody writes. If some here have any reasoning ability at all - when I stated ' here we go again ' - I would assume most people look at that comment as there's a lot of child abuse going on within the WT Society and JW organization involving abuse of power by elders. Period mark. It wasn't an indictment toward this particular individual. Get a grip folks

Another great musician from the old days gone, dead. Very sad. Fats Domino was one of the stalwart musicians of the 1950's and left us many great memories. I had a close buddy of mine who died himself in a car wreck in the early 1980's whose favorite musician was Fats Domino. So whenever I'd hear Fats songs- I'd think of my close friend. Rest in peace Fats, Sincerely, Mr. Flipper

Great points Stuckinarut ! Any of us who have experienced the injustices and shunning from the WT and JW cult have an opportunity ahead of us to expose this criminal organization for what it is - just that a criminal organization. And help open up people's minds as we travel on in life

Listened to this song over and over while picking up firewood yesterday. The beautiful bagpipes at the end of the song always remind me of my mom's Scottish heritage and I start crying my head off missing her when the bagpipes start. But hey, tears of healing right ?
