PALE- Yeah, I know, you handled it wisely. I just had to vent as to what I would have LIKED to do. I probably would have done the same thing you did- you handled it correctly. Hang in there, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Like others here- my blood is boiling as I right this. First of all though- Pale Emperor - you are a magnificent father to be really supportive to your daughter ( what a cool video you took of her ! ) you can see how happy she is with her relationship with you singing about you while banging her drum with sticks . That is so cool. Keep the great work up dad ! You're doing well with her ! You're teaching her unconditional love and natural love from a parent. Very good keep it up.
O.K. Now for my rant- If I was in that house after your brother in law interrogated your daughter - he would have been missing a face after that party. I would have slammed his ass up against a hallway wall and said, " listen jack ass - if you EVER try to manipulate my daughter against me again by coercion of her mind - you're going to WISH the resurrection was a reality " . ( I probably wouldn't say that - but it's what I'd like to say )
You handled it a lot better than I would have. By setting the example for your daughter and showing her love you are teaching her that the treatment she experienced is so wrong and so far from " Christianity " that she'll never want to be part of Jehovah's " psychotic sheep " . Which is a good thing. Keep the great work up , hopefully your wife will eventually leave the organization as well. And I won't even put in print what I think of " Nana " at this party. I'd be kicked off the board. Hang in there, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Another example of the smothering and high control nature of JW husbands
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed another popular pattern of behaviour amongst witnesses in recent years.. many, and i mean lots of ones with instagram accounts have closed the wife's account, and have started a "couple's" account instead.
also, for families.
the children's accounts have been closed, and the husband starts a "family account".. it is mainly on the husband's device, and seemingly under his control.

STUCKINARUT- Interesting thread. One reason I've never had a Facebook account or been on social media is because of what Wake Me Up Before You Jo-Ho went through. Having been raised in this infernal JW cult from birth- I'm well aware of how many JW's do NOT honor personal boundaries of others at all. I got out in 2003 and I'll be damned if I was going to allow any of my still-in JW relatives to see what I was up to in my personal life so as to use it against me causing me grief with elders who have been out of my life for 14 years after I exited the cult. Not gonna happen.
If any of my ex-JW friends or non-JW friends who want to contact me- they can either E-mail me at my private E-mail address or call me or text message me on my phone, or write a letter to my residence. I'm not gonna put my private info out there so current JW's can sabotage me. I got sabotaged enough when I was INSIDE the JW cult.
That being said- in reply to your thread topic, if a JW father wants to be aware of their minor child's tweets or Facebook replies - I see nothing wrong with that- but his own adult wife - that's a total different story. Any relationship where the husband feels the need to control the wife, or wife control the husband- is a poor excuse for a relationship anyway and probably won't last as it has so many holes in it like Swiss cheese. Relationships do not work from being controlling or allowing oneself to be controlled. Relationships work through honor, trust, and respecting the dignity of the other person

My Boyfriend is a recent Ex Jehovah Witness
by whatisthis12 ini have been dating my boyfriend for almost a year now.
when i met him i had no idea that he was a jehovah witness.
we took a vacation and he lied to his parents about who he was with, and they ended up finding out not only that he way lying, but who i was.

WHATISTHIS- Welcome to the forum. You've had such excellent advice here - I cannot add much to it ! One reason I love all the folks on this board- so helpful to people needing advice.
The 2 major things people have mentioned that I agree with entirely is :
1. Make sure that your boyfriend is not only out of the JW cult physically ( not attending meetings ) but out of the cult mentally for good. Some here have given you great websites to check out information on that .
2. If your boyfriend was not honest with you for one year in keeping you a secret from his family- it very well may mean that he values his PARENTS opinion about his life over the importance of your and his relationship in his life. And that would set a very dangerous precedent for trying to build trust, honesty, and sincerity. He needs to grow up , or mature- like right now in a very real and fast way in order to show where his loyalty lies- towards your relationship - or towards needing approval of his former JW church or his parents. And since his parents are JW's - the whole approval thing is wrapped up with the JW & parent approval all tied in together- a package deal quite realistically.
I wish you the best my friend, but I suggest asking some really deep, probing questions to your boyfriend to see where he's at mentally, emotionally, and physically or spiritually with the JW organization. As others have correctly stated : if you don't address this now, it will be much more difficult to address it down the line . Just my 2 cents. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

A WTF Moment While In the WTS
by Searching inhas anyone else had a moment, while still within the organization (and before learning ttatt) that caused them to stop and go, "this is kind of messed up.".
for instance, back i believe in the early 2000's, i was attending a dc with my family.
it was announced at the beginning of the convention that there was going to be a special announcement at the end, so for everyone to please try to remain until the very end of the meeting.

I had so many WTF ? moments it's amazing I didn't exit the organization years before I finally did. But fear of losing family does strange things to your reasoning capacity and pulling the trigger on actually jumping to the freedom side of the fence.
But personally- it was the abuse of power by the elders that led me to many of my WTF ? moments. I saw so many of my fellow JW's abused mentally and emotionally as well as myself - that I reached my breaking point and walked out of the kingdom hall cold turkey- never to return again. Best decision I ever made

BBC Radio News Report On Pedophile Elder Allowed To Cross Examine His Victim

Thanks for posting this Pale Emperor and for the additional links Darkspilver- this information is so extremely important it can't be overemphasized. WT Society has gotten away for years and years in having child abuse policies that are downright dangerous as well as criminal in my opinion. As Scratchme says- they couldn't care less about the safety and welfare of young children in their midst. It's all about the money being paid out to victims and trying to suppress any negative media attention on the worldwide Internet.
I hope the Charity Commission keeps putting pressure on the WT Society not only in Australia and England- but it NEEDS to happen here in the United States and worldwide. Whatever is going on within the JW organization concerning child abuse needs to be exposed regularly to news media worldwide. And the United States government and authorities need to STOP treating organized religion like some ridiculous sacred cow and insist that they obey the laws of the land. If they are arresting top leaders and priests in the Catholic Church- then higher ups within the Jehovah's Witnesses who are guilty of child abuse should be arrested as well

Incredible. This certainly wouldn't have occurred in the " religion " I was raised in during the 1960's as a kid. Actually kind of hilarious in a macabre sort of way. I'm expecting any moment " Moses " to come down from the mountain or creeping up from the water throwing the tablet down saying , " What are you sisters DOING dancing with one another like that ? Stop touching ! Have you no SHAME ? " Freaking hilarious.

AKID- I admire you as a brave young person and want you to know that we here are on your side - rooting for you. My condolences to you on the loss of your parents my friend. Just keep on doing research on the Internet about the WT Society to get the real truth about what they are hiding from you. Lots of unethical, criminal behavior going on in that organization behind the scenes. You may have to go to meetings for awhile with your aunt, but in time you'll be of legal age to make your own decisions. Stay patient. I know it's hard, but you'll do fine. We are always here if you need support and want to talk. Take care friend, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Ran into my brother at a concert; first time I've seen him in years......
by dubstepped inmy wife and i went to a concert on friday night.
there was a friend of ours there doing security, and she happens to be an exjw too.
she sent me a message on messenger to inform me that my brother and his wife were at the show, not knowing that i'd be there too.

DUBSTEPPED- Well done by you and your wife ! Bravo ! You acted like normal, humane, sensitive human beings who show love and care for your relatives. No matter what their response was - YOU and your WIFE did the right thing - so it's on them if they chose to be douche bags. We as EX-JW's have no reason to hang our heads, no reason to hide- as we know it's the JW cult and WT Society that are in the wrong with their hateful policies. WT leaders turn typical JW's into a bunch of haters. Let the hater's hate- but by our doing the right thing- perhaps these relatives may wake up some day to their errors and mind control. One can only hope
