While I totally understand why so many ex-jws have to attend the meetings so they won't lose their families, for the rest of us I feel strongly that we should not do anything in support of that organization.
The watchtower is responsible for terrible things. I feel that attending any of their events is sort of like looking the other way.
Just my opinion, and I never was a witness myself.

JAMES- Hey I'm REALLY happy for you man. It gives me hope about reuniting with my 29 year old JW daughter as well ! I finally saw my 1st grandson in early May and my daughter was kind as I visited in their back yard with her, her husband , and my grandson taking pictures. I'm hoping to buy my grandson some toys and go by their house next Friday- taking it slow- just to show them and my grandson I love them. Won't talk anything JW with them though- just appeal to them through family love.
You asked about going back to the kingdom hall to prove something to your brother ? I don't think it's a very good idea. As I don't think it would accomplish anything. If anything- your JW brother would use your attending as a manipulation to convince your daughter, " oh LOOK ! James is attending meetings again, so should YOU guys his kids ! " SEE my point ? Your JW family might misinterpret it as you REALLY being interested in the JW religion again- and that would send mixed signals in my opinion.
You've done great with your daughter by just being a loving dad , showing unconditional love as a sincere authentic human which she responded to well ! None of us need to use the JW props anymore to appeal to JW family who in reality don't appreciate our authentic selves anyway or accept us as we are. Keep up the great work dad ! SIMON- I agree with you all the way . I mean what wife wouldn't leave a husband that raped or molested children ? I mean, the judge refers to this guy " suffering " because his wife left him over him committing rape and child abuse ? It was justice being served up and him receiving Karma, as he deserved to be left !
In answer to my own rhetorical question, " what wife wouldn't leave a husband that raped or molested children " - as strange as it seems - the answer to that within the JW religion is not as many wives leave these perverted molesters as we think ! I knew of several instances where the JW wife " stood by her man " as the JW husband child molester served his prison sentence for the crime and after he got out - he got back with his ever faithful ( if not mostly stupid and naïve JW wife ) . Like Albert Einstein once stated, " Two things are infinite : the universe and human stupidity. "

Jesus Freaking Christ ! Was the Australia commission all for naught ? Does this judge Andrews have fucking soft mush for brains ? What's the use of the hours upon hours of Australia Commission testimonies- if the damned Australian courts aren't going to follow the recommendations ? Where did this judge come from anyway- fucking Pluto ?
Is the judge this stupid- or else just a pedophile himself in secret ? To have it become an 8 month sentence after having been reduced from 2 years - is unconscionable and quite frankly - the sentence handed down should be illegal in and of itself for being SO light !
If I was that girl's attorney I'd be challenging and appealing my ass off on behalf of a stiffer sentence for this creep. I agree with Breakfast of Champions - kudos to the lady who yelled in court to the abuser " you sleaze " ! Something's up. That poor victim has to suffer all over again in court and see her abuse minimized by a tap on the wrist sentence to the abuser. I hope all governments go after WT leaders for this child abuse crap happening

i realize now my father i believe had " aspergers" " ( although not diagnosed) .
our parents are who they are, and i do not hate my patents for being who they are, on the contary i appreciate how they love me in their own way.
but growing up with strict witness parents and a father who i now believe has " asperges"" wasn't easy, .
REBEL- Good job. You are a great dad. I've always felt like you do that it's important to tell our wives and children that we love them before going to bed each night and to never take it for granted. I had a strict JW father who is now almost 91 years old who NEVER , and I mean NEVER told me that he loved me. Not once. My mom is total opposite, always told me she loved me so she made up for it.
But my dad came from a broken home he experienced with his own dad leaving when he was 13 years old - so who knows what issues he was dealing with ? so you are right- we as adults try to take that stuff into consideration when moving on in life. But I promised myself that my relationship with my own son would be much tighter and closer than me and my dad's. And it is ! My son is one of my best friends and we are very close. And we tell each other we love each other too. A big difference in what I experienced with my own dad. I think many of us try to make up for what we didn't have in relationships as we grow older. Keep on keeping on buddy- you are doing great ! I'm happy for you and your little family
