I would like to come....from southern NH...only two hours or so away....never been to one of these before!!!
It will be a riot to go to RI for this, since I used to go to Providence for the district conventions....sooooo ironic hahaha!
last year on memorial day a group of about 14 east coast ex-jw's met together in providence ri.
i had the pleasure of being able to have most of them back to our apartment for dessert, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting local people with a similar background.
i was able to meet zev, somebody, red horse woman, scumrat, sister act, doc bob & his wife, as well as others whom i can't remember their online names.. this year, i would like to get another group together on memorial day again, and hopefully we'll get even more of a response this year.

we had a birthday "party" for my daughter at a local restaurant today, with a group of her friends invited.
we are "inactive" but i still attend some meetings.
i do not comment or want any 'privilages'.. anyway, one person whom my daughter invited is a jw, though she has said that she may want to get out soon.
How old is your daughter?
I say kudos for her friend asking if it was okay to say where she was at, and kudos to your daughter to tell her it was okay.
I keep expecting the elders to knock on my door....I live across the street from about 5 JW families...no kidding..and we have xmas lights up every year....but since I faded away...then do nothing..if you do not comment, don't go out in service and have no privillages, how can they really do anything?
Live your life....I know it is hard...but there are a lot more people out in the world than these close minded JWs
a classic and delightfully irreverant skit from rowan atkinson (shame on you if you know him only as mr bean!
) which ill be serving up for a little while for your listening enjoyment.. it seems perfectly appropriate to this gang.. http://members.home.com/aghull/devil.mp3.
this skit always reminds me of how id wonder just what jehovah was going to do at armageddon to make sure 'all will know' just why theyre gettin the big brush-off.
HAHAHAHA!!!!
Thanks for that link! A great laugh!
Big Rowan fan here!
i was driving down the street the other day and seen a sign for a store the sign read.. "kocks liquor" .
i immediately had visions rolling about my head.
talk about roflmao.
There is a company up here called the Blow Brothers...they provide porta potties. One the side of the trucks it reads:
"We're #1 in the #2 business!"
And, there is a tackle shop up her called "Master's Bait Shop"
is the official elder's manual online anywhere?
if so, how can i get an online or literal copy?
Ahh...thanks!
I wish I could get my hands on a hard copy...do any of you former elders out there still have one? I am curious as to whether anyone could confirm that the online version is actually the real thing.
Call me paranoid, heehee.
i have gotten a little mean in my old age.
my sister-in-law is a born again church of god life time member and sometimes is a little dogmatic.
i love to point out fallacies in her religious thinking.. this might have been a little unfeeling on my part but she was talking to my wife about a tragic happening in her life 26 years ago.
Rex,
If Job believed in an immortal soul, then why did he beg to die and go to shiloh (hell)?
in the beginning, if there were only two humans and they had kids, how did the kids have kids if not through incest?
my question is this.
when did that become unexceptable?
Well...I think the major difference is that 1)it was consenting adults and 2)they didn't know about genetics. If it was not consensual, it was rape...just like when Tamar was raped by her half brother.
But

Wow...how did you get that posted online?
i was in the town this morning and saw a little cluster of jws leaving the kingdom hall, clutching their ministry bags, eager to go out into the field service.... well, maybe eager isnt quite the right word.... anyway, i thought to myself - how many people will they convert today?
one, two, a whole family?
the more obvious answer is none at all.
Arg,
nice to see your posts.
Door to door sometimes simply boils down to an "exercise in faith" for many witnesses, especially in territories that are overworked.
It does teach persistance...haahaah! I found the training valuable to me while I was selling insurance and mutual funds (shhh...I am a recovering insurance agent...no more in that cult, haahaa!)
When I was an active JW going out in the field work was one of the ways to be with the hardcore JWs, that made me feel better about being in the religion. Of course, that was before I started seriously questioning the doctrines.
But anyhoo, I have never understood how anyone could claim to be a devout JW and not go out in field service. It is clearly a HUGE part of the religion. Those who won't go once in a while shouldn't bother going to the meetings at all. I always hated it when people sat on the fence.
No offense meant...just my two cents.
