Do You Still Call It "The Truth"? "The Brothers" etc.
by minimus in"when i was in the truth....".
"since i left the truth"..... do you still find yourself using jw terminology?.

I choke on it now. One of our JWD posters (who shall remain nameless, but it's the one that comes on the board and stirs the sh** pot defending her precious "truth") used one yesterday: our donation arrangement. It's more like "our fleece-the-flock" scam.

You've got the gift!
I like how Jesus Christ is squeezed in somewhere between the KH lawn guy and grandma's 10-year Bible study.

Oops - Wifey might be cross-wise!
by AK - Jeff inshe wore her new cross that i bot her for her 50th birthday to work.
an elder that works there [whom she rarely sees] saw her and eyed the jewelry.
we'll see how it goes - but she is expecting an invite to 'meet with the elders' now.

Something similar happened to me when my son and dil bought me a unique crucifix to hang on my wall. I caught the looks of the elder's wife that came by on a return visit, but she said nothing....just had that "look" on her face.

Serpent Seed Doctrine and the Kennites
by journey-on inas some of you know, i'm on a journey.
i am in the process of opening up myself to explore other possibilities and i'm trying to examine other ways of looking at religious and spiritual things.
some i take with a grain of salt, others i reject immediately, some i file away in the margins of my mind to explore later, others i embrace with relish (not the pickle kind).

Yes, nvr...that's it in a nutshell, but there's more to it than that. The nutshell makes it sound just plain nutty. But, if you read some of the deeper material as to how and why this may have been, it doesn't really sound any nuttier than the stuff the JWs spout.
Like I said, I'm just exploring why others embrace certain things and I can understand this one on some level.

As some of you know, I'm on a journey. I am in the process of opening up myself to explore other possibilities and I'm trying to examine other ways of looking at religious and spiritual things. Some I take with a grain of salt, others I reject immediately, some I file away in the margins of my mind to explore later, others I embrace with relish (not the pickle kind). Most of us here are probably on a similar exploration.
I recently came across some material about The Serpent Seed Doctrine. I'm not saying I believe this, but it did offer an explanation as to why God would kill off whole populations including women, children, and babies. If you believe there is/was a Jehovah, the God of the Israelites, this may explain these otherwise inexplicable occurrences.
If any of you have heard about this and have thoughts concerning this doctrine, I'd like to hear them.

What sends you over the edge?
by restrangled inthere was a recent thread on spelling, sentence structure, etc., that was legitimate, but probably made other's feel stupid.. my question is, what is your personal pet peeve?.
i've got a problem with poor construction inside my home...i hate the trim work, some cut too short so it looks like mouse holes over the floor.
i had my kitchen redone and the layout was so unusual that i can't open a fridge door unless i pull it forward or push it back to open a drawer.

so let me get this straight
by 4digitcode ini have been on here for only the past 3 days or so....so i don't really know how it goes.. this is an 'apostate' site right?.
so today i've learned that there is just the ol' regular apostate and an 'active' apostate.. but are there actually active witnesses on this site as well??.
because i just saw a topic about someone asking for advice on how to do a talk?.

Welcome, 4digitcode
You'll get a lot out of this board and hopefully add something to it. Don't take debate and criticism personally as one of the threads talks about today. The more you post, the more people will get to "know" you and you'll enjoy it even more when you've developed that raport. I was raised in the borg (a common term for the organization...see Star Trek The Next Generation), faded gradually over time, been shunned by some (not all) family members for simply walking away from it.

People On This Board Have Feelings!
by minimus ini think it's easy to forget that our communication with others here can be very real.
we're not just "posters".
we're persons, real people--- and we have feelings and emotions.

Minimus
Not long ago, in some other post, I pretty much said the exact same thing about taking people's personalities and sensitivities into consideration, but I GOT SHOT DOWN for saying it. I guess when a minimus says it, people agree. I basically was told this is not the WTS and to leave consideration for a poster's feelings out of it.
