is the watch tower name going away?
i'm seeing more use of the "jehovah's witnesses" name where the watch tower name once was such as the sponsors of the summer conventions.
is this new, or am i just noticing it?
It sounds like a DA by the WT from JW...any problems don't sue WTS sue the JW, we are no longer associated with the WT.It all has to do with money, and I smell a rotten fish here.
IMO, this hits the nail on the head. It looks like a positioning stance for something coming up. Lawsuits? Maybe. I guarantee the
Kool-aid copy of the WT will probably show us the full intent of the change.

i recall my viewpoint about apostatesi despised them thoroughly.

If you allow those things to be taken from you, for whatever reason, then you are responsible.
But what about the children....those of us who were raised in it? Some have been able to release those shackels of indoctrination, but others couldn't because of the "thought-control techniques" of the Society. If it becomes clear that there is a purposeful effort to control by means of the shunning policy, then they should be held accountable IMO.
If you came into the cult as a fully mature adult, then NO. But if you have been indoctrinated from early childhood, and it is proven that the behind the scenes leadership has purposely used mind-control techniques and fear of shunning, then YES.

Believe it or not, but the courts are taking a new look at this practice. In the past, they didn't choose to interfer in a religion's practices, but Scientology, of all things, is shedding new light on just how harmful this practice is to the overall health of a community in that it breaks down the family unit which in turn, breaks down society. I'm doing some research on this practice and American tort law and have discovered that where in the past these cases were lost, now some are being won....not by ex-JWs just yet, but by ex-Scientologists. This may open the door for some new pushes for the courts to take a closer look at how the WTS encourages this through their "teaching techniques".
yesterday i called a family on the west coast that were in my congregation 18 years ago.
between parents, kids and marriage partners, there were six of them who had been witnesses.
they have all faded, and have had nothing to do with the witnesses for at least 15 year or more.. yet, none of them is in any way active even in looking at the ex-jw sites online.

i personally am a sceptic regarding the validity of hypnosis as a form of mind control.
i associate it with entertainment tricks pulled by stage performers.. i never experienced any weird happenings during my only two visits to a kh.
is anyone able to refute me?

you have the captive audience of all the witlesses that you have associated with and loved in the past (including family members) but now shun you, for 5 minutes.. you most chose one and only one topic to proved that their religion is false and not based on love.. 1. who would you pick to be part of this audience?.
2. what topic would you choose to discuss?
I would pick as my audience members of the GB and several hand-picked df'd and da'd individuals along with their families.
My topic would be "shunning."

I think a lot of us don't want to unduly influence those on their own particular path. An opinion, a supportive post, an empathetic ear, and some advice from our personal perspective is fine, but activism is serious business. Then you're messing with people on a much deeper level and I'm not sure that's always a good thing. Put the info out there, talk and debate some, but let people find their own way in the end without pressure from an organized group. JMO for what it's worth.
there will have to be assumptions involved here.....that god exists, the bible is the word of god and creation is as stated in genesis, etc.
etc.. in the old testament, god seemed pretty straight forward, let certain people know (and not by osmosis) his intent.
backed certain kings, and showed power through physical occurrences over and over again.. along comes his son, who died for the entire race as a ransom for adam's sin.
the 10 commandments are a good place to start since jesus was considered the embodyment of the 10 commandments and fundamentally they are a good code of ethic.
Heathen....I think you're right on with this statement. In the OT, the first 5 of the 10 commandments were about our relationship with God and the next 5 were about our relationship with our fellow man. Jesus boiled it down to two: Love God with your whole heart, soul, strength, and mind; and love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments, the whole Law rests. Simple as pie.

I don't know about them using hypnosis in the conventional sense, but I did experience something last year when I went to a couple of meetings after having been out of it and "deprogrammed" for many years. I kid you not! Everybody in the KH seemed robotic right down to the fake smiles. The music seemed weird to me, too. My mother was the piano player years ago when they still used live music. Now, the music has no lift or spirit to it. No one seems to know the songs that well like we did in the old days. They seemed like drones in a hive. I've commented on this before in one of my posts because it was so SPOOKY to me.
Question if anybody knows: Do the KHs HAVE to use the CDs? If a really good piano player wants to furnish the piano and play for the KH, is this allowed nowadays?

how'd you get out?
It was a process for me. I look back now and I can almost put it together like a puzzle.....an inadequate answer from an elder to a question I had....the feminist movement made me squirm at the "be in subjection to your husband" mentality...wanting to see R rated movies because some of them were speaking to the currents flowing within society and I was interested in that.....wanting my children to experience the freedom to think and express themselves without fear....and STUPID doctrines! I faded quietly.
