You say you don't care for "lukewarm" comedians", but a few on your list or beyond lukewarm to not funny at all in my opinion, just like I'm sure on my list of favorite comedians, you'd label my favorites to be lukewarm, to not funny at all as well, Hey, to each his own!!
Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Don Rickles, Chris Rock, Totie Fields, Joan Rivers, Robert Klein, Freddy Prinze (when he first started out), Garry Shandling (before he got his first TV show) Rosie O'Donnell when she used to do standup, Eddie Murphy and my new favorite Whitney Cummings, she's absolutely killer when she's on those celebrity roasts on the Comedy Channel.

Like Magwitch, I have to admit that when my mother got up in years, she wassn't forgotten, even when she was in the nursing home, you had to sign in before you went upstairs, so I always checked the book before I went up and she did have quite a regular visitors from her Cong . . . and that's the ONLY POSITIVE THING I have to say about them !!

Update: I got the shun at my dad's funeral- the best outcome really!!

so glad to have that over with- it was surreal to walk in the kh after two years...it is just a building to me now (not "jehovah's house").
i must say that now i'm on the outside...what a boring sad building- the people were not joyful and friendly (just older and fatter than i remember)- i got the nervous stares and shaky "hi" when i looked at all of them and said hello.. my mom was sitting all by herself in the front row of the hall...i went and sat by her side.

I have to honestly say that at my Dad's funeral at the KH, although I've never been dipped, the folks didn't ignore me, even when I stayed at mom's house during the week and they came to visit.
However, I was just waiting for someone at my mom's funeral to pull that one on me (I vowed I would not have it in the KH) when they came up to greet the family after the service I was not ignored, but like I said in your other post, some said to "come back to Jah" , but just knowing myself I know if some of them came to my moms house when my dad died and they ignored me, I would've TOTALLY called them on it, that would've been disrepectful to my mother and that bogus cult they belong to that pretends to preach love, love, love. . .!

I don't think anyone is really surprised to hear of death, she lead her life like a train wreck waiting to happen, I do feel sorry for her parents, I remember seeing an interview with her dad who unlike Dina Lohan, saw and acknowledged that his daughter had issues and needed to get herself together.

by Coffee House Girl inwell since there is no "betting" (as it reeks of gambling) in jdub land, lets place a friendly wager on what will happen to me when i go to my father's "memorial" service at the kingdome hall this saturday..... to give you newbies background info: i am neither df'd or da'd- i left 2 years ago with no explanation.
i have been hounded by elders in my cong because they have suspicions that i am living with a man, but they have no proof (well, no proof in jdub land- you know...two witness rule).
after many attempts to get me to meet with them- i finally sent the elders a "cease & desist" letter after one of them spied in my miniblinds to see me eating breakfast with someone (they couldn't identify who).

At my mothers funeral, when the folks come up to the family at the end, a few of them said to me "come back to Jehovah" so, taking into account as to where I was, instead of saying " shut the f** up and mind your own damn business", I didn't say anything at all, it's a shame that you have to get the feeling that you want to punch somebody out at your own parents funeral.
