Why doesn't the majority win?

i'm sure that most of the jw's think that there are too many meetings a week.. i'm sure that most of the jw's find that the end is coming later than expected and don't dare talk about this openly.. i'm sure that most of the jw's don't believe everything they are taught.. i'm sure we could add more and more to this list.. so, why is it that the majority of jw's are being led by a very few, and afraid to stand up to them on any topic..

Can you say brainwashed? Many don't have the mental capacity to get into a bowling league where there are worldly people who are having fun.

Latin saddoes - why "colonoscopy"?????

if my memory of latin at school serves me, it was drummed into us by our teacher that in these circumstances the second vowel should be dropped.. so you latin experx, is it .

colonoscopy,.

or coloscopy?.

I know nothing about latin. I do know a consenant from a vowel. You dropped the third vowel and a consenant.

Still interesting is how you can change the definition of one word by changing one letter.

i am in desperate need of help bad.i just found out my snake of a jw fiance already has been dating a jw,the bugger lied to me when i asked.

if there was anybody else.now i just want to make him pay for all the hurt he has caused-i know this isn't the right way to think but why should he get away twice with hurting me.i called him to ask about it and he called me a stalker.i am not just wanted the truth,is that too much to ask?.

i am dead inside.

Lesson one; JWs are no more morally upstanding than anyone else.

Lesson two (if you choose to learn the hard way;) A little revenge is not rewarding. It may lead to a lot of revenge. That can lead to pshyco care and if that's not enough it might lead to jail. Best advice, move on and you'll find someone better before you would get out of jail.

Lesson three; I'm older than you and I'm in my third marraige. I have experience, "I" learned the hard way from my first divorce. (I wont give you any ideas but my personal best was milk in the little vents below the windshield in the summertime) She caused the divorce and in the end paid for it with her life. Your fiancee may just get what he deserves from other sources.

Lesson four; SMILE and you will meet someone sooner than you think.

i wanted to apologize to all the protesters who used to stand out in front of dogers stadium in la ca.. i hated it when you guys were out there.

i really wanted you to go away and leave alone.. now i understand.

I went to Yankee Stadium for assemblies in the 60s and 70s. I must have been blind to the protesters there. I never saw protests at JW events.

Devil and The Deep Blue Sea?

how do you view your friends who are still witnesses - do you look at them and wonder how you can get them out or do you think that many are best off staying where they are.

i find myself constantly wondering whether they would prefer to be where besty and i are now or whether they would be so traumatized by leaving when they have such a large family/network of jws that there is no point in even trying to help them to see the truth about "the truth".

some seem genuinely very happy to be a witness (even though its obvious that its all a struggle).

Noisy Neighbours - what do you do?!

okay so here is the scenario:.

i finally acquaint myself with the "floating ship" that is my four poster bed about 1.30 am, finish watching a favourite lullaby horror movie - wolf creek and close my eyes.. minutes later a door slams right next to my ear and then another and what sounds like a gaggle of adolescent girls (reminiscent of the current manless debacle that is big brother uk this year) screams their way into the flat next door at high volume.

they are talking so loud i can hear every inane word they say.

"Look mate, I want to apologise for noise I have made here. I never realised how thin the walls were. I am sincerely sorry for the any noise I may have made with my industrial vibrator, girl visitors, boy visitors, small donkeys - whatever. Please please can you keep the noise down on week nights and I will do the same. I can cope with riotous weekend nights. Heck I may even join you. But please on school nights can you not do what happened last night or I will go insane and we can expect chainsaws at dawn next time."

I think that approach will work. Your neighbor will realise you could have called the police. He/she will also remember the humor you use and the next time it starts to get loud it will come to memory quickly and they won't have a reason to piss you off on purpose.

Is this normal parenting behavior for JWs?

last night as i was waiting in my truck for my jw roommate to come out from tms, this lady comes out with a young girl crying.

i would say she was about 8 yrs old.

they were the only ones out there and i don't thing they saw me in my truck.

Oppgirl, she won't suffer any consequenses from the KH. They will no doubt support her. The witnesses will come up with a number of reasons for discipline and the forms of discipline used are never criticised by them. They have reformed somewhat recently because of local laws and it's a shame they do it because they have to.

You speak of a child with a diminished mental capacity. Ask yourself, "What does a child learn from punishment in that state of mind?" Nothing. It is evident the parent is using the child as a punching bag when they get angry. You have acknowlegded that this is wrong and that puts you many steps above this parent. If your friend is a true friend she will not hold any grudge against you. Tell your friend that this a matter concerning a metally handicapped child and religion has no role in it.
