  Are we really free?

  we recently attended our first "apostafest" and as others were doing, took lots of pictures, both at the wedding and on sunday.

  checking the board after we got back, several were begging to see photos.

  someone else posted some, and so i picked out some of ours and posted them as well.

  Lenny, this could be a learning experience for all who may host or attend an Apostafest or meet up. I would like to someday. The topic of photographs can be raised early in the event, for those who still need the privacy.

  I have no fear of the organization. I was never baptised. I have been out for 33 years now and I still cant speak negetively of the society to my father. I would like to post signs on my truck that say the JWs are a cult, I can't because of my father. I know that he, Jehovah, and the WTBTS can't hurt me anymore, but I don't know why I can't speak against it until my father passes away. Until he does, I'm not free.

  and here we go... my "father", an abusive bastard of a jw, recently sent me an email that put me in a tizzy!

  it was late friday night, i had just gotten home from a shift at a local bar where i bartend on occasion!

  Well infamousone, you have described my own growing up experiences perfectly. As for the e-mails, my father started sending me e-mails just before Christmas. All of a sudden with no apparent reason. One here and one there. They are getting more frequent. I came home tonight and there are two. Mostly G rated jokes by themselves. A few words and a few more words. Nothing serious yet but I do expect it. Occasionally I return a G rated joke to keep him baited because I want to know what he's up to. His new wife is a nasty woman and I hope he isn't happy. When I find out what his motives are, then I'll shun him. Maybe.

  In your case it's obvious your father misses you, maybe, and maybe he's trying to make amends. Don't jump to shutting him out. Give yourself some time to think about it. What you would like to do is very obvious and there is always tomorrow.

  i just want to say that i used to be judgemental of athiests, but as a jw backer everyone on here finds nothing but wrong doing with the orginizations.

  well i am sure i can find wrong doing with other churches and their teachings as well.

  children in the jehovah's witness religion really have it hard.

  to compare, look at other churches.

  most of them have sunday school, and this is geared to children that are not able to really comprehend the deeper things.

  Yup! I am a grandfather. The abuse didn't stop at the kingdum hall, when I got home I was also strapped with the belt. This went on for years.

  Ian was sent home tonight. His fantastic performance last night was a little late for the season.

  Tonight's was the best show I've seen of the three season's I have followed the show. Guest performer Enrique Iglesas sang one of my favorite songs, "Hero." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmi0UbO7PZI

  All of the dancers are doing so well, it's hard to say who will win the competition. I think Joey will win and I expect we'll see something no one has done before. Who is your choice to win?

  Apostafest

  sorry to be a copycat, but someone mentioned an apostafest and the subject got my full attention.

  i would also like to know if anyone here knows of any apostafest in the central florida area (daytona, cocoa beach, orlando, etc.).

  i've never heard of such a gathering, but i think it would be so cool to actually meet some of you guys.

  You could try other sites looking for more people. One site is meetup.com. It can be confusing to navigate but there are others there.

  as a dental patient!!

  lol.

  i went to a new dentist today - my last dentist retired and that was a couple of years ago soooo, i figured i'd put it off long enough.. he was a really great dentist - gave me a really thourough exam and told me that from a dental patient standpoint i was boring - i had perfect teeth, perfect bite etc yadda yadda yadda!!.

  I was a witness for the state and kept under gaurd, because of death threats, for two months. During that time my wisdoms were coming in and because they weren't dealt with, a lot of damage to other teeth occured. I lost 6 teeth and the wisdoms and now I have 22 teeth. Those are in good health. I wish I was boring.

  all in one night.. per some good advice a few weeks back from this board, i have attended my first 'service club' meeting of my life.

  carmel had suggested to try kiwanis international - and so i did.

  the introduction began to break jwism's from the get-go [precisely where i am at in my paradigm].

  I think you will like that very much. I had joined an Elks club for a few years and I became an officer, I held the Chaplin's chair and the Esquires chair before I had to give it up for a new employment position. Too many work hours took me away from that and I miss it.

  Do your burial wishes reflect your inner most beliefs?

  the subject of how ones remains are dealt with, i think, is very revealing of ones core beliefs.

  i've heard atheists say that under no circumstances would they want to be cremated.

  that, to me, is inconsistent with their proclaimed viewpoint.

  No embalming, closed casket. White flowers only. All are invited to attend even the JW friends of my father. I have written my own eulogy that will shock my father and the JWs. I have purchased my plot in a cemetary that doesn't allow headstones. My mother is buried there. I'm also thinking about the small cards you sometimes find at the funeral home. I would like to have a line from a song put on them. "They say when your brought into this world your born in sin, at least that's something I didn't have to steal or win."
