  what do they need the fds concept for?

  it's a weak idea, based on one scripture which is a rhetorical question.

  they've already published several articles indicating that just because you are annointed doesn't mean you have any special insight, so they've already disconnected annointed from leadership.

They've already published several articles indicating that just because you are annointed doesn't mean you have any special insight, so they've already disconnected annointed from leadership. Why not just get rid of the ridiculous FDS concept and just tell everyone to obey the Governing Body? It's no secret that they are the real leaders...

  And once they do that they leave the door open to changing 144,000 from a literal number to a symbolic number. After all, they already reversed the "door to heaven closing in 1935."

  So really, what does the FDS concept gain them at this point? Why not just do away with it?

  Sir82 hit the nail on the head. It's the ones still on the inside that pose the greatest threat.
  
  As for apostates on the outside, their biggests problem is it's no longer one person, or one website, or one book, or one line of reasoning. There are too many sources of information that expose the TATT for them to keep up.

  How many doubting Thomases?

  as an active witness atm i speak reguarly with friends and family who are also active.

  it seems however that there are some things that people are comfortable discussing such as beards (whats the problem) and birthdays (everyone would if they could) and, if you are with close friends, things like confusion over the generations, pressure of keeping all the balls juggled, harshness of rules around da/df ones along with long lapsed family and to some extent blood.. my guess is that there are many more who may be in a similar state of mind to me and wondering if it really is all worth it.

  it makes me wonder about how many with express themselves more if they could?

  IMHO the leadership's greatest threat is not the Internet, it's those who are still on the inside but have awoken.

  on my introduction post a few people expressed interest in how the worldwide church of god (wwcg) imploded.

  i think maybe in hopes something similar will happen with the jws.

  i think the jws will also eventually experience a meltdown but probably not in the same way since the power structure was a bit different.
