talesin, I agree the State would have hsd a better shot at a manslaughter conviction had that been the original charge. But still GZ would probably get off w reasonable doubt on his side.
I think the police should have questioned GZ harder. They let him tell his story over and over. Its much easier to explain away inconsistencies when the only other eyewitness is dead. However, they probably didnt care enough h to do that bc they profiled TM just as GZ did.

sosoconfused, there was something else in one of his interviews that I caught that made me think GZ was not telling the whole truth. I can't remember what it was right now. When I have time I will find it and post. Perhaps if law enforcement took a harder look at his story they may have had a better chance at a manslaughter conviction. But maybe the actual racists here were the police investigators. Maybe they didn't care to look too closely at GZ's statements because after all it was just another "black thug" killed.
IMO GZ wanted to catch a bad guy and have him jailed. I don't believe he wanted to kill TM. But his actions helped create the situation. Maybe his punishment is enough now. He will be looking over his shoulder for a very long time now. If I were him I would leave Florida. Now more than ever, I would say the guy should carry a gun. But he may be so paranoid another unarmed person may be hurt or killed.

Based on some of the articles I read I have to agree with tootired2care on this one. Her own son? Why would she flee from an abusive husban she thought was going to kill her and leave her kid? But 12 minutes to deliberate?

Probably not getting legally married. The reasons have changed over the years. But I've always enjoyed enjoying proving to the jdub family and other ppl we do not need to be legaly married to be married. Almost ten years together and now getting ready for our first baby. Honestly though, now that the baby is on the way we have been second guessing our thoughts about marriage.
