So I was working with this dude, a carpenter. He mentions that the DC is coming up next weekend and asks if I'm going to attend. I tell him no, because I don't believe any of it and he's totally shocked. He must have been of the opinion that I was one of those people who stopped going to meetings etc because I wanted to be a fornicating hedonist prepared for death at Armageddon, not because I had issues with the illogical nature of it all. Yada yada yada, he ends up saying the same old line I always seem to hear 'It's a good way to bring up your kids if nothing else'. To which I reply, 'Not if your kid dies from not having blood'. This is where it gets interesting. He goes on to tell me about how his son was in Great Ormond Street hospital to have an operation to sort out his downstairs mix up, he had a mangina kind of like Old Greg . The anesthetist said that he was going to give his son blood whether he liked it or not, which didn't go down too well with woodworking chum. After a low level ruck involving hospital staff, he forcibly removed his son from the hospital, thus condemning his son to a life without worthwhile sexual organs. Of course the benefit of that being his son was then unable to please the demons, or himself by masturbating. I just kept my mouth shut. Didn't mention Baal worship or anything. Veen

Child sacrifice
by veen inso everyone always goes on about how terrible baal worshipers were, sacrificing their children to him etc.
do not parents therefore, of children who die from not accepting blood, carry out a very similar act.
essentially, they allow their children to die just to please their god, and would be praised for standing firm right to the end, as they stood by and watched their child slowly slip away, knowing that they could save their life at any time.

"Remember that JWs don't see it as a sacrifice because they believe in the resurrection". If this is the case then they shouldn't be so down on the old baal worship scenario, because those babies will be resurected also.

The sense of guilt would no doubt be unbearable if such parents then came to the understanding that the religion was false.

FOR THOSE UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE GOING TO THE ASSEMBLY, HERE'S SOME TIPS:
by Mary inyes, there are several of us that either have to go to the crap-assed assembly this year, or simply because we plan on taking notes and posting them here.
knowing how bloody boring the entire thing is, i've made some tips up on how you can keep awake during the 2007 borefest:are you really going to the assembly this year?
are you ready to fall asleep by 10:05am when the opening song and prayer are over?

My mate did the straw thing, but with chewed up paper so it would stick to whatever it made contact with. The noise was quite noticeable which made it more difficult to keep a straight face. I once read 'Mr Nice' by Howard Marks throughout an entire 3 day convention without anyone saying a thing. The point about the best seats is so true. I once turned up at between 7-7.30am for a whole convention. There was not one row of seats that were not taken at the back on any level of an entire football stadium. One of my favorite things to do was sing harmonies to all the songs. One year was totally golden though. Myself and three other muso friends perfected barbershop style harmonies over the course of the weekend. At the end of the last song on the Sunday we hit a beaut of a chord and held it after everyone else stopped singing, at which point my girlfriend elbowed me in the solar plexus causing me to let out a significantly loud 'heurrgh!' which reverberated around the stadium. The people in the row in front were pissing themselves laughing throughout the never ending prayer. It makes me wish I was going.

What is the scriptural basis to deny baptism?
by MinisterAmos inhow many baptized witnesses were told that they could not be baptized until they had served for a time as unbaptized publishers?
is there an actual scriptural basis for this, or is just another law made up by the org?
why are some not asked to serve as unbaptized publishers before baptism?

I was refused twice and it screwed up my life. Then i got dunked and then I was more screwed than ever. But then again, it's all a case of whether you want to take the red or the blue pill isn't it.

hypnosys experience?
by Hermano inhello everyone, long time lurker, first post.
can you share your experiences with hypnosis?
beyond the yes it worked for me or no it did not work for me, what i am looking for especifically is whether or not it opened you up for demon attacks or demonic activity.
-
veen
I watched a hypnosis show and it was one of the things which made me realize the true nature of 'the truth'. If you can convince someone that they are Elvis, just by talking to them for a few minutes, then how much more effective are meetings etc going to be, when there is no letup at all, from the day that you were born, telling you the same untruths over and over again. By the way, I don't think hypnosis is demonic or opens you up to demons. Truly I tell you today, it's all in your mind.

Vinyl recordings of Rutherford etc
by veen inso i remember my grandmother having these old vinyl recordings with the dude ranting away.
do you think it would be worth me trying to getting hold of them, or are they already available in the public domain.
i wish i was a hardcore anti jw when i was younger 'cos i would listen to those beauties now, at the time i thought they were just boring.

Might be difficult to get my hands on them. Would be very suspect no doubt. I was just wondering if they were rare enough to bother putting my neck out for when the time came.

An old dude from my old hall died recently. He left £750,000 to the society, and I'm not sure if that even included the money from the sale of his house. I'm pretty sure that'll cover it.

Participation - Commenting - Answering-Up
by IMHO incall it what you want.
is it a privilege?
considering most do not want to do it given the choice.
-

It's a privilege because you have got something to do, rather than sit there being bored out of your mind being subconsciously brainwashed.
