JaniceA—About 23,000 cases were recorded by police in England and Wales, in 2012/13.[4] Around 21,493 sexual offences on children were recognized in 2011/12. The statistics do not include the children aged 16 and 17.[5] Some 90% of the sexually abused children were abused by people who they knew, and about 1 of the 3 abused children did not tell anyone else about it.[2]
The true number of offences remains doubtful, generally assumed to be larger, due to expected unreported cases of child abuse.[6]
A 2013 study undertaken by the National Crime Agency's Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command (CEOP) found 75 per cent of offenders in grooming-gang cases were from Asian backgrounds. Other researchers have said that the study's sample size was too small and more research needed to be conducted.[7]A 2017 report by Quilliam International, created by British-Pakistani authors, found that 84 per cent of people convicted of specific grooming-gang crimes in the UK since 2005 were South Asian, with most of the men convicted being of Pakistani origin.[8][9] John Pitts, the Vauxhall Professor of Socio-Legal Studies at the University of Luton, cautioned that the links made between Pakistani Muslim culture and child sexual exploitation may have been "too simplistic", writing: "...[I]f the cultural determinants of street grooming are as powerful as [Quilliam] believe, we have to ask why only a tiny fraction of the 2.5 million or so South Asian men in Britain, most of whom have been exposed to similar cultural beliefs, do not perpetrate these crimes."[10]
However, approximately 90 per cent of those convicted of child abuse and that have been placed on the sex offenders register in England and Wales are white males. [11][12][13]

Hey, Kenny,
Londo snd Fink-and lamallcool have said some things l agree with. I wish other guys would also talk to you about the way dating and courting are in the Organization . They would warn you that the information snd the restricted social network in the halls is BAD BAD BAD for finding snd developing a healthy marriage.
This is viewed as an apostate website. You should honestly ask why you look here for honest help. I can tell you why. It’s because we will tell you the truth straight up the way we have found it.
Now ask yourself this one: what would this girl think of your zeal if she knew you were talking to us about her? You are dead meat.
You have normal interests of s young man. Learn a good trade of get some extra learning and get out of a place that will always mess with your marriage. That girl is not a bad girl . But she is s JW and that is not in your heart. If you want to have a chance to be happy get away from all that.
You will find a sweetheart somewhere else. My boys did. So will you.

Not posted for a year because mum died did not want blood.
by Witness 007 ini posted here weekly until a year ago when my mum died of a mild form of lukemia which is easy to treat with 2 blood tranfusions a month.
you can live to 100 with treatment, but no my mum chose to die a faithful witness after 2 years of chemo and hell for her family and doctors.
her chemo doctor cried when she only had weeks left to live knowing that she could be saved with one bag of blood!

Witness007, It is hard to remember how l would fill out that blood card—Our supposed badge of honor. Once l left and became very ill l was relieved to know l had no restraint on finding therapies to keep living.
As others said, your mom was strong in her faith and that secondhand comfort is cold comfort for you-but l hope it was something of a comfort for her.
l wish you well now. And l hope you let what peace can come to you , let it.

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Baker Who Refused to Bake Cake for Gay Couple
by Simon inseems like such an obviously correct decision to overturn the previous overreach - it should never have been necessary to go to the supreme court but happened because the rights of the religious were being ignored.. as the fundamental level, no one should be able to compel you to work for them or to provide services that go against your beliefs, and certainly not have the government be able to force you to comply.. if this was allowed there would be so many unreconcilable situations that would clog up courts over nonsense.. i also have little patience for these activists that intentionally look to be offended.
it really doesn't do their cause any good to go round looking to make trouble for people.
it's also misguided because it ends up strengthening religious rights over effectively stupid issues.. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/04/us/politics/supreme-court-sides-with-baker-who-turned-away-gay-couple.html.

I agree that this is a good outcome. They should not be required to essentially “bless” gay marriage. I wouldn’t want the bad mojo from those bakers anyway.
To DoC’ s point to refuse service for perceived “color” : that must be condemned. It is beyond question that there are things we ARE BORN with. We are born to color and too bad if they believe that b—llsh-t about Hamm.
Many people- especially those bound by archaic religious text -deny there are but two gender realities with which we are born. And this new world of fluid sexuality is still foreign to society. But the gap is disappearing as well it should on color.
They damn well better decorate a cake for whatever colored couple walks through the door-unless they are gay.

Simon, thanks for your point by point reply. So far we agree. This may be uncomfortable to accept but the degrees of difference are negligible.
The violent world of the twisted religious views is horrifying. The birth rates of immigrant Muslims is outpacing that of the “native” populations . Population pressure alone needs to be reckoned with!! And the multicultural model failed to see that it undermined assimilation. Yes, it makes the head spin. But we must try to sort it out. Or else we can let it heat up to a war where no body knows who to shoot at.
l value Tommy ‘s work. His physical courage and mental toughness makes me admire him. But here is the question:
what to do now? The masses behind Tommy need to know what to do more than be a twitter follower. Politics can begin in our own living rooms if we can avoid shouting each other down and alternatively learn to take a punch or to and go in for another round.
I t beats hell out of going to war to my thinking.
Political correctness didhinder investigations. —Luhe
Prosecute the law breakers high and low, left and right, dark and light. No politics. And with small local forums of citizen have regular meetings. get local communities to talk about local needs. Invite politicians and or official to come. The networks of government must have that kind of capillary action to make any sense . It must happen Now. Tommy has taken this as far as one man can.
edit: lf this thread were not so rich and relevant to my concerns in my-american-world then l would start a separate thread. We have the same complicated effect of government either overextended and/or corrupt in combination with citizen inaction and ignorance (where difficult problems are swept into prisons to fester and grow worse)
In some measure l wish we could get Tommy to come over here.

Zeb—l do hope the citizens of the U.K. have given attention to Tommy. These related conversations? Maybe think of them as the talk of relatives in the foyer waiting for news of a child in the operating theater of a hospital discussing the accident that sent the child to surgery. Some say the authorities are to blame some say the child was reckless —and they may all be right , all have a point.
As an American l see vast problems mounting and cycling into growing storms. Elements of the present U.K. social conundrums playing out in in my State-my country. I sometimes resent that government doesn’t take better care of things.. but then l remember that l am supposed to be somewhat involved in that governance. that is when l see what a mess this is when there is not regular “housekeeping” of the accretions of a growing diverse population.
Thanks, zeb, for letting us chat in the foyer while Tommy gets help.
the Metropolitan police say that child sexual exploitation isn't specific to an ethnic or religious group. What is specific is the age of the perps - late teens and early twenties and these perps practice exploitation across the board in all parts of the UK.-Ruby
I am glad you remind us of this. Certainly earlier in the thread I mentioned the groups of men in the US who used the internet page Backspace to prostitute girls. And l know as you do that there were others implicated— you mentioned procuring the kids for MPs. With the money involved l could see it too. They have been prosecuted at last. But that is a little part of it.
It is not surprising that a backward Muslim subset of Pakistani background (where girl children have a very hard road) of the UK community known for misogynistic behavior toward women would have been involved in trafficking girls in the U.K. l posted on that.
JaniceA earlier insisted that e remember how children, girls particularly are not protected from sexual abuse.
Ruby, we all are subject , are sensitive to having facts spun to manipulate us. I have appreciated how invested you are in getting a larger understanding of matters. But for some the evidence of what we see on the ground, in our neighborhoods is compelling and we know it is part of the picture. We need that it be recognized as part of the problem.
What is going on in the UK and Europe with floods of immigrants and the problem of radical Islam is considerable. The people to be careful of in this turmoil are people with an agenda—definitely there are far right agitators and there definitely are Muslim radicals. But there are also politicians and global businesses. And laziness and fear.
How to craft laws and goodwill to Co-exist? We have to look closely at it all and listen to each other.
Because...we are in some measure the government.
And when government seems to have looked away from trouble a-brewing..,So Tommy Rises.

Simon,
Muslims raised under sharia law have a harder time than JWs just “walking away” from lslam. That’s the problem. Especially for women.
Edit: besides- some did just “walk away”— and now they are in the UK. and other western countries trying to be normal,
Most of the talk is not fussing about how to avoid offending “normal Muslims” (Though allies in fighting extremism are welcome from all quarters. )Moderate Muslims very much want to have western law and order.
Posts on the OP voiced concern over the justice of Tommy Robinson’s arrest and worries about his safety in custody. Naturally the issues Tommy raises are discussed. The disorders and likelihood of fighting mobs are multiplying for lack of moral courage in authorities. There is confusion and ignorance as to what Islam is and isn’t.
People need support to walk away from a high control religion. You of all people should know that. You created this board for JWs who were simply thinking, or thinking about leaving- or folks who had left but had no one who understood.
Hey, Simon, how about you set up "Mohammedans-dot-net"?

Glad to have that Maajid /Tommy radio exchange .
I do not hold Tommy’s past actions against him. ( l was a JW for 22 years of my adult life after all)
But NOW where is he heading with the masses he is collecting?. Maajid seems to want the change makers to unite or at least acknowledge shared goals, shared views.
