The WTBTS is selling land in Brooklyn to settle sex abuse lawsuits
by What-A-Coincidence inla archdiocese could sell land to settle sex abuse lawsuitsposted on sun, dec. 03, 2006. los angeles - the archdiocese of los angeles could end up selling off some of its vast southern california land holdings to help cover the cost of potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in sex abuse settlement payments.. the nation's largest roman catholic archdiocese said friday it will pay $60 million to settle 45 abuse lawsuits.
as many as 485 suits are still pending.. to make the payments, the archdiocese may unload some of its roughly 1,600 area properties, valued at $4 billion, the los angeles times reported today.. while most of the properties are devoted to churches and schools, the archdiocese also owns oil wells, farm parcels, parking lots, and commercial buildings.. the debate over whether to sell the land is likely to focus on who controls parish holdings - church officials or the parishioners.. seeking to limit the plaintiffs' access to archdiocese assets, cardinal roger mahony has claimed that churches and schools belong to individual parishes, and officials do not have the authority to sell them.. but church scholars said mahony has nearly unchecked authority to liquidate church property, ultimately answering only to the pope.. "the cardinal can sell whatever he wants," said charles zech, an economics professor at villanova university.
"each bishop or each cardinal is the 'pope' of his archdiocese.".

Oops, I said too much...........again!
by nonamegiven ini went to the meeting yesterday (first time in a month due to a new baby then the other kids getting sick) and the wt study was about showing love for neighbor.
now my main issue with the org is the complete and utter lack of love i have been shown for pretty much my whole life and since that is what jesus said would define his people it's a sticking point with me.
so, while i sat there hearing this i was getting more and more ticked off.

Oops, I said too much
by nonamegiven infor those that don't know, i'd df'd and trying to lay low so i can be reinstated then fade................ i was talking with my wife and things (well, i) got heated.
we were talking about the whole df thing and my point is that what jw's do is not bible-based.
anyway she was saying that she trusts that this is jah's organization and the holy spirit is responsible for the elders actions and yadda-yadda-yadda.

Like a Distant, Abusive Parent
by metatron ini think the saddest aspect of being a jehovah's witness in 2006 concerns the increasingly distant relationship that the watchtower.
hierarchy have developed - and how witnesses react to it.. have you ever known a parent who had little or no love for their children?
and how the children sometimes seem all the more drawn to.
