I didn't see the show today but I wonder if it was new or a repeat of the Nov 23 show - www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/147235/2665147/post.ashx#2665147
She gave a really good anti-witness in the November show.
did anyone see todays show?
sherri talks about being raised a jw and how she left after her father was df'd and she could no longer speak to him.
it was really surprising to me.....am i the last to know she was raised a jw?.

i'd like you all to tell me 2 or 3 things:.
1- were you raised a witness or not?.
2-if you were, was your family very "theocratic" or not so much?.
1 - Yes
2 - Very theocratic (father overseer/elder - we even drove from Georgia to the 1958 NYC international convention (Yankee Stadium) with 3 kids, the youngest 6 weeks old)
3 - Agnostic
on weekends i am the conductor on a first class dinner train.
in addition to my conductor duties i walk through the train and schmooze with folks.
couple of weeks ago there was a party of four, man and woman in their mid thirties with a three year old girl and a mid fifties age man.
I got a job working for attorneys when I was 19 - very naive and had not been around anything to do with the law. I was typing up something legal from a dictation tape and typed the words I heard - "Jewish Prudence". Boy was I embarrassed when I found out about "jurisprudence".
A very few years later in a different state and in my mid 20s I had another office job answering phones & stuff. One of the managers got a call one day. The caller said to have him call her. I recognized the voice and thought it was his wife. I told him his wife called and to call her back. Yes, he called his wife and asked what she wanted. Oops, it was not his wife, it was his girlfriend that had called!! I was still a witless then and did not understand the ways of the World.
it's amazing what you can do on the internet: http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1569807090.

I couldn't get it to open either until I copied and pasted the link into my browser. Then it worked fine.
Thanks Mary. That is cute. The one someone posted the other day was good too - it was the Christmas Office party with Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, F Franz & Teddy J.

the road by cormac mccarthy.
it's the story of a man and his son after the world had been destroyed (they never say how or by whom).. good book but a real "downer".. changeling.
There were some disturbing things in the book. That said, it was a story about the father's love for his son and trying to get him to a safe place.
I disagreed with some things the father did on their journey but I'm sure he felt the decisions necessary. The book was so good I gave my copy to my son for him to read.
hello folks.
i posted one topic in the "relationships" section of this board, but just wanted to say a few words, and introduce myself, i am tank.
i was just curious, this is a jw board, i was expecting to find 80% of the members, or posts, to be of diehard, hardcore jw's, trying to preach there beliefs or there views, but yet, almost every thread i read has to do with someone leaving, already left, or a story of when they left, nonetheless, all the stories lead away from the jw religion.
Hi Tank and welcome to JWD.
My parents were both pioneers when they married so I was born into it and had no chance to hide behind the door from them. It took me about 30 years to get out but the effects still linger today.
i think we can all agree that we want to keep this story alive.
tonight on global's everyday heroes they featured cheryl perera: fighting child exploitation.
i thought this would be a good time to bring up the sex abuse crisis within the jw org.. i have written a rough draft but ask if anyone can help me refine it.
within the Jehovah Witness Organization
I would suggest identifying the organization more completely, i.e. - Watchtower Bible & Tract Society (also known as Jehovah's Witnesses)
i am watching this program....and sherri shepard just said she was raised as a jw and how strict their beliefs were.
she was asked what jws believe---and she answered that they teach that when jesus comes back to destroy the earth, that only jws will be allowed to live on the new earth that will be made.. she also said how she hated going out on saturday mornings to knock on doors, and that it was tough when her father got disassociated (she had to stop and explain what that meant) and that she could no longer talk to him.. a lot of women (who are at home :o) watch this show.....and i am applauding her saying this so all who are watching this will hear these two points and remeber them the next time jws call at their houses!.
facts that only jws will be saved when jesus comes back---and jws told not to speak to those who leave or are kicked out of the religion.....two great points to be aired like this on national tv!.
I just happened to turn on the show as they started talking about the JWs. I thought I heard her say her father was disfellowshipped (but I could have heard wrong).
The main thing to me was she said he was disfellowshipped BECAUSE he was questioning their teachings & asking too many questions !!!
Wish I could hear it again.
often a person asks of ex-jws, "why the hate?
it's possible that they've seen examples of how some can be opportunistic in their finding fault of people or groups.
some people hate walmart.
Excellent presentation. Very touching and absolutely correct.
