  Are wedding rings pagan?

  hi everyone, i was on myspace having a discussion with a jw about wedding rings.

  does anyone know if wedding rings were made to worship a false god?

  this is a very funny question, because often when i come across a opposers of bible truth and explain to them about how certain 'so-called christian' holidays actually predate christ's ministry on earth and all the traditions associated with xmas, easter, valentines, etc.

  this is a very funny question, because often when I come across a opposers of Bible truth and explain to them about how certain 'so-called christian' holidays actually predate Christ's ministry on earth and all the traditions associated with xmas, easter, valentines, etc. were designed to honor false gods, they often come back with "well, wedding rings are pagan too and you people wear them!"
  
  of course, when I ask them to tell me which false god the wedding ring was designed to honor?

  does anyone have any answer to this? i would really appreciate your help because he is really getting on my nerves, and ive been in many many discussions with him about the JWs and their false teachings.

  Would you risk your life?

  innyc yesterday a man saved a strangers lfe by jumping on the train tracks and rolling both himself and the injured man under a small crawl space in the tracks.

  fortunately both escaped harm but at least 2 train cars had rolled over them.. the man had fell on to the tracks after suffering a seizure.. what a heroic act of kindness.. would you have risked your life to save a stranger?.

  is your answer the same answer you would have given if you were still in the borg?.

  my family and i would be really interested in having one in melbourne or any surrounding area sometime in the next few months.

  we have been out of the org for just under a year now and we would really like to make some new friends.. is anyone up for this?

  i was leaving in my car and honked my horn....i thought it was my aunt.....she turned........it was my mother!

  If only she would. We have talked several times on the phone and its always, well, you haven't quit smoking so I can't see you.

  you might not agree, but what about if you did quit smoking so that she could see you? i know she would probably be still told not too, but she might see this as enough of a change to talk to you more.

  the kids don't know what he looks like or what he's like at all.

  other men step in and run the family and you get treated like a stepchild or abused.

  you want your real dad to come and get you; he's supposed to be so good; but he never comes.

  this is what i posted in another thread...

  Bruce has 2 dogs (a male named Rosco and a female named Shelly), Bruce just baked a nice meat pie for dinner, he puts the pie on the bench to cool down before he eats it, he then leaves the kitchen and goes to watch some TV.

  Now Rosco and Shelly know how they are not supposed to each food of the bench, and they know that they will get into big trouble, theyve done it before and they learned their lesson.

  But Rosco and Shelly make the mistake of jumping up onto the bench and eating half of the meat pie.

  Now Bruce has finished watching TV and decides to go and eat his dinner, but he soon realises that his dogs ate it! So he puts them outside and makes them live the rest of their days in the backyard instead of sleeping at his feet on the end of his bed.

  But something else happens... Rosco and Shelly get pregnant, and because Bruno is still very upset with them he waits untill they have their puppies and takes them away...

  Bruce puts each of the puppies into tiny cages, barely big enough for them to blink an eyelid, he gives them only just enough dirty water and food to keep them alive, he also pokes and prods each of the puppies through the cages and torments them all day long, but he does all of this in front of Rosco and Shelly.

  Bruce does all of this because the two dogs stole one pie of the bench, he does it because from that one mistake the dogs offspring have to pay for something they have nothing to do with. (instead of just punishing Rosco and Shelly).

  This was just an example of how i see God (Bruce).

  What 'kind God' would do something like this? The majority of us on this forum have got the best life comparred to those in third world countrys that are starving to death.

  Why does someone/something like this deserve our worship? if i met a person like this i dont even want to say what i would do

  In regards to people who beleive the bible -

  How does one book justify all this pain and sorrow?

  Why would someone (God) sacrifice their only son when they could just click their fingers and make everything ok? That seems cruel and pointless if you can fix the problem but instead you sacrifice your own son?! no one with a sane mind would do this.

  sorry if some are offended by my thoughts on this, but thats really how i feel.
