first of all, i'm sorry i couldn't figure out how to take off this huge red font!
well, i got this in an email (from someone who thinks the bible is a loving and beautiful book) and i believe it's a crock.
why on earth would the wheel below be so very shiney???
WHEN Ron Wyatt first visited Nuweiba in 1978, he found a Phoenician style column lying in the water. Unfortunately the inscriptions had been eroded away, hence the column's importance was not understood until 1984, when a second granite column was found on the Saudi coastline opposite -- identical to the first, except on this one the inscription was still intact! In Phoenician letters (Archaic Hebrew), it contained the words: Mizraim (Egypt); Solomon; Edom; death; Pharaoh; Moses; and Yahweh, indicating that King Solomon had set up these columns as a memorial to the miracle of the crossing of the sea. Saudi Arabia does not admit tourists, and perhaps fearing unauthorized visitors, the Saudi Authorities have since removed this column, and replaced it with a flag marker where it once stood.
Damnit now i cant change the font! lol, what about the above quote? i cant seem to find anything that disproves these columns, could they be true? does anyone have any other info on these?
Tell him about this (props go to jwfacts for the info)
One of the great Watchtower lies is that it always foretold 1914 was to start the conclusion of the system of things. I have just put together an article comparing what the Watchtower said prior to 1914, to the claims it makes today. It is very revealing as to the honesty of Watchtower propoganda. This appears at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/1914dates.htm
Zion’s Watch Tower 1894 July 15 p.227 “But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning , but for theend of the time of trouble .
Awake! 1973 January 22 p.8 “… Jehovah's witnesses pointed to the year 1914, decades in advance , as marking the start of "the conclusion of the system of things.”
One of the most misleading statements in Watchtower publications is that they accurately foretold 1914 to be the ‘start’ of the conclusion of the system of things. In reality 1914 had consistently been predicted to be the ‘end’ of the system of things.

ok, ive been trying to work out this one for a while, so please just put up with me if i make no sense whatsover..... over nearly the last year or so i havnt been to any meetings at all, i realised that all things jw is a big money making lie that is destroying peoples lives.
after leaving the jws i started to question the bible (as most probably do).
i researched inteligent design and evolution, and put them on an even playing ground so i could get a proper view of everything without my old 'watchtower goggles' on that seemed to stop me from seeing anything else but the friggin' organisation.. personaly i beleive we were created by something/someone, and to me the universe is to big and to complicated to have just happened by chance.
thank you all so much for the replys
i really dont know exactly what i beleive anymore, its so strange coming from a beleif of a god, the bible, an organisation run by god, with all the rules and regulations set out for us.
Then having that blow up in your face! it leaves you with an empty sort of feeling, and it makes you question everything else to do with religion, a creator and evolution (which is a good thing) but its soo confusing, and the simple aswer is no longer there.
Oh well, i know this is going to be going round in my head for my whole life so i better pace myself, lol
Thank you all again, and i really do appreciate each and every one of your coments.

it really is my birthday and of course my jw husband can not celebrate this with me.
i thought i was ok with this, beacause this is my 3rd birthday with him and i have never felt this sad before.
but now that he trying to be reinstated i am so angry with him for not telling me what it would .
Dont worry Janet im sure it will all work out for you just fine, finding out about the UN thing is a big thing for your husband no dought, and it will take time to sink in, ive noticed with many people that even if you prove it too them straight away they still have that natural instinct to reject it (you can blame the watchtower for that one) it just takes time to deprogram.
Happy birthday by the way!

just wondering if anyone still does not celebrate xmas since leaving jws.....or like me do you think"to hell with it", and join in the festivities.
if you do celebrate it, do you still have pangs of guilt for celebrating this "pagan" festival???.
chukky.
no i dont at all, personaly it annoys me, i cant stand anything to do with it, i do aggree though that it brings families together which is a great thing, but i dont think i will ever celebrate it at all.
or show up half-sloshed???
or even a really bad hang-over??
lol..... at the pique of my "rebellious" phase when i was about 16-18, i often smuggled in a small mickey of drambuie or baileys then snuck off into the library for .
haha, me and 2 of my mates drank a heap of Jim Beam before one particular sunday meeting, we skulled it down just before we left and it started hitting us in the car on the way there (we didnt drive, my mum did, we were only about 15-17) it was funny because mum compliment on how nice we smelled, i think she thought it was aftershave! lol
