it was a waste wasting 15 years of my life on this false religion.

Welcome to JWD Fly!!!
You will find a lot of support here. Take your time and please think before you act or speak. I opened my mouth one too many times and now my family is suspicious about me. So.... I have decided to remain active. It isn't easy as there are times I just want to walk out of the KH and never return. Service is especially difficult, but I am just taking my time and hope to one day fade.
What ever you decide to do I wish you the very best.
Best Wishes,

"you must not boil a kid in its mother's milk" - huh?
why on earth did god feel the need to point this out?
was this a popular thing to do?
The link I posted will not take you directly to the article (I have no idea why). However IF you do want to read it, just click the link I provided. Once the page opens you can click on "Search" and access the article by typing in the name of it in the "Title" field. I tried it and worked for me. The title of the article is “You Shall Not Boil a Kid in Its Mother’s Milk”.

WhatisthesignificanceofthecommandfoundinExodus23:19,"Youmustnotboilakidinitsmother’smilk"?This statute, in common with a number of others, seems to emphasize that there is a proper and fitting order in all matters, and that this should be adhered to. God provided the milk of the mother for the purpose of nourishing her young. To use it to boil her offspring would be using it to its harm and its death, the very opposite of that intended.
Another lesson that seems to be here intended for his covenant people is that they should be compassionate, not acting in a heartless manner. Jehovah has shown himself to be compassionate in all his dealings with his creatures, and he calls upon them to emulate his perfect example.
Still another possibility is that Jehovah was here steering his people clear of the senseless and hurtful practices of the heathen nations round about. According to TheBibleandArchaeology (1940) by Sir Frederic Kenyon, the seething or boiling of a kid in its mother’s milk was a pagan ritual for producing rain.
I did a quick search and found an article that was quite interesting (imo). It discusses several reasons why this statute may have been given. Here is the link for those interested. http://members.bib-arch.org/nph-proxy.pl/000000A/http/www.basarchive.org/bswbBrowse.asp=3fPubID=3dBSBR&Volume=3d1&Issue=3d3&ArticleID=3d9&UserID=3d0

I heard that this is considered a delicacy in some places. EWWWWWWW!!
your absolute favorite song of all time.
no lists.
just your absolute favorite and artist.. mine:.
I don't have one favorite song, certain songs seem to stay with me for a time. If you would have asked this at the beginning of the year I would have said "Silent All These Years" by Tori Amos.
Right now the song that really resonates with me is "Pilgrim" by Enya. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
"Pilgrim"
Pilgrim, how you journey
On the road you chose
To find out why the winds die
And where the stories go.
All days come from one day
That much you must know,
You cannot change what's over
But only where you go.
One way leads to diamonds,
One way leads to gold,
Another leads you only
To everything you're told.
In your heart you wonder
Which of these is true;
The road that leads to nowhere,
The road that leads to you.
Will you find the answer
In all you say and do?
Will you find the answer
In you?
Each heart is a pilgrim,
Each one wants to know
The reason why the winds die
And where the stories go.
Pilgrim, in your journey
You may travel far,
For pilgrim it's a long way
To find out who you are...
Pilgrim, it's a long way
To find out who you are...
Pilgrim, it's a long way
To find out who you are...
i just returned a customer's phone call and heard that on the voice mail.
every now and then these come along, and i experience a few emotions or thoughts.
my thoughts and experiences, and yes i know everyone isn't like this and there are a lot of great, humble, christ serving people here and out there...this isn't directed at you:.
Perhaps you would prefer, "Screw you and the horse you rode in on." Sheesh! Some people are wrapped just way too tight, or are completely prejudiced against anything with a Christian conotation as the following excerpt of a post demonstrates:
On the other hand some of my friends in the wiccan/pagan or new age community will end an e-mail with "Brightest Blessings" or "Blessed Be". I myself may end an e-mail with something similar. That doesn't bother me at all, for me it's a different energy, a different vibe that I am personally comfortable with. Why not just take the statement in the positive light that it is usually intended in? Why does everything have to be offensive? Perhaps you would like people to stop saying good bye, since it is a contraction of God be with you. Oh wait, let me guess, that is not the conotation of the word now. Perhaps adios should be expunged from the vocabulary, also?
This appears to me, just another manifestation of the "tyranny of the minority." Just because a minority of people are offended by something, it can no longer be said or done.
I knew I should have worded my post differently before hitting the submit button! I do admit that I have my biased opinions. Somtimes my anger towards the JW's does have a tendancy to come out against other Christians. I am working on that as I don't want to make generalizations. I do realize that just becuase JW's have hurt me doesn't mean all Christians are bad.
There is on point of my post that I want to bring out:
If I feel the individual is trying to be loving by sending a blessing my way then I am cool with it (no matter how they phrase it).
If a person (no matter what they believe) says to me "Have a Blessed Day", "Blessed Be", "Brightest Blessings", etc, etc and I feel they are coming from a place of love, I truly have no problem with that. But when I sense it is coming from a place of "I am better than you and you are terrible so therefore I am going to give you blessing" I must say that I would take offense to it. Whether it came from a Christian, a Pagan, a Hindu, or who ever else.
I am sorry for my lack of consideration in my comment. I will make sure to carefully consider my words before I post. I do not wish to come across as being prejudiced to anyone or any groups of people.

a brother gave a talk (i don't remember what it was called).
he asked the audience what they would do to prove to someone that the bible is gods word.
the brother who gave the talk said that we would likely want to direct the individual to various bible prophecies because they give us proof that the bible is inspired of god.. i was wondering what your opinions were on this subject.
Excellent!! Thanks so much guys for your input. I have never really felt that so called bible prophecy was proof that the Bible is the word of God. I could never really believe that these prophecies would have two fullfillments (in bible times, and in our day). It is just as tetra said "you will find that the language used is such that the prophecies could be applied to any event, and pretty much any time."

It really depends on who it is coming from. We have this lady in our town who pushes a little metal cart around and has Jesus Saves and Jesus Lives painted in huge letters on her house. Somtimes she calls us at work and when she goes to hang up the phone she says "Have a blessed day!" It really creeps me out. I feel like she's trying to rub off on me or something.
On the other hand some of my friends in the wiccan/pagan or new age community will end an e-mail with "Brightest Blessings" or "Blessed Be". I myself may end an e-mail with something similar. If I feel the individual is trying to be loving by sending a blessing my way then I am cool with it (no matter how they phrase it). If I sense the person feels I am in desperate need of being saved because I am going to burn in hell or whatever then I just get creeped out.

Hi everyone!! I was reading this yesterday during the public talk. Why does it say “Jehovah our God is one Jehovah” and not “Jehovah our God is one God”? I was just wondering why it reads the way it does. What does it mean?
Thanks,

Oh I was also wondering if any of you know of some good threads about Proverbs 4:18. What does this verse mean when read in context? I don’t have much of an education (did terrible in school and dropped out to get married) so I am sorry if my questions seem “juvenile”.
We sang song 111 “The Light Gets Brighter” to start the Service Meeting on the same night we had to review the November insert on blood fractions. Very convenient!
