I was thinking...if I had been sitting there, still a JW...I would be dilligently writing down most of what he was saying....All the while, not even hearing it. That's what happens when you hear the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over........

Should I Do Something To Help My Friends And Family?

I can really relate to how you are feeling. I, like you, feel that it is not "just another religion" that our family has faith in...but, it is a dangerous cult that affects people in some truely terrible ways. The biggest problem is that UNTILL they are ready to hear "the truth about the truth"....They won't listen to you. I say this from my own frusterating experience. My husband keeps telling me to pray for them...and show them just by my life how good not being in it feels. It kills me sometimes that they are beyond reason.....but, in time, they may come around.
Hang in there!

Help settle a debate. Internet relationships...
by esw1966 ina stay at home dad posted on craig's list that he was looking for platonic email correspondance with a lady, someone to talk about life with, insights into relationships, a reason to turn on the computer in the morning et cetera....... my fiance occasionally finds herself seeking relationships with select people online and getting into soulful conversations with them.
she feels that people can be their truest selves in these moments.
to share the quirks of life with random fellow americans is somehow thrilling to her.

I am with the majority on this one. The lonely guy could join some stay at home groups to get some company, or find activities to do with his kids....I don't think having a reason to get on the computer every morning is a good excuse even! He seems to have ONE thing on his mind....and...to me.....it screams DANGER.
Like it was said.....Finding companionship is something we are doing here with all sorts of people..and it is great and fullfilling.....That is what people without alterior motives do.

Any help will be apprecited!! (And help me make my diet harder! LOL!)

I am really sorry you are going through this too. If you feel the need to do something, you can pray for her. That is all I have found that I can do, and if it brings results someday, great.....but like you said....Nothing else seems to work. ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))

'I love you'
by Zico inyesterday, i came to the realisation, that nobody has ever said these words to me, least not that i can remember, which was a temporarily devastating moment for me.
this began with my father.
spotting him in front of the tv in his favourite chair, i walked over and came out with the words 'i love you' it felt very weird, because i think it may be the first time i've ever said these words myself, but i'm going to blame my upbringing on this.

That's cute....really. I am glad your sister told you she loved you back, and I am glad you didn't give up!
When I worked as a phone rep once I helped an older lady and before we hung up she said "I love you" (I think out of habit...) but, I said "I love you too..." It only seemed right! LOL!

"Ashley Treatment" keeps severely disabled girl from growing
by Fe2O3Girl inthis news story came out today and i was surprised that we haven't had a lively discussion about it.
it brought to mind some of the ideas we discussed on the "is circumcision child abuse?
" thread.. ashley is now 9 years old.

I have to agree with the parents too...and I think it would be appropriate to do the same type of thing with a male child. If you are mentally remaining child like...I think the body should follow suite. It prevents the person from experienceing things they are not mentally able to handle...In my humble opinion. It is a tough one though.
