Jussie Smollett Charges Dropped!!

Liberals should not be afraid to speak out. Wrong is wrong.

Michelle Obama contacted someone who got to States Attorney Kim Foxx to drop the charges. She better have a job offer as this could end her in the next election.

The reason is stated that these cases are often pleaded out to community service or such. Then maybe she should have done that.

The city sent Jussie a bill for $130,000. Good for them. He went on and on about his innocense and wanting his record wiped. I hope fighting the bill leads to civil court where his innocense would be examined.

Everyone is hurt by false accusations like these.

And remember that no conviction, no collusion charges, no indictments, doesn't always mean no criminal activity.

i actually visited the kh a few days ago.

i just needed to see some friends.

i hadn't been in months.

And some of us are PIMO and don't just unreasonably walk away becuase we have our friends here and there.

I didn't need such friends that were mainly focused on judging me for my involvement in the organization. Even if that were not the case, like many here, I was unable to take the b.s. of the meeting itself to try to reap some friendship benefits. Better to find new friends.

We have much work to do still. "No Religion" doesn't mean they are atheists and believers still dominate the chart, many not letting go of their category even if they are inactive Catholics, Protestant, or others.

Marijuana and JWs

so where does the cult stand on marijuana.

my wife just visited her parents who are jws and her dad who knows nothing about it said it was a gateway drug.

he may have heard it on the news but i doubt it.

I am certainly not the one to look up anything in the WT Library, but JW's are against psychiatry yet won't directly tell members not to seek mental health professionals anymore. I am certain it's the same with medical marijuana. They will continue to demonize smoking pot, but I don't think they will come out and condemn edibles for medical treatment. They will just put out a bunch of "Be cautious, but you need to use your own discretion."

Whole Study Article on Commenting at Meetings

i guess less people are commenting now.

last week's whole wt study was dedicating to the issue of commenting.

people were literally making comments about how to comment, it was very meta (not that most there would get that), anyway the main reason that wt gave to explain away people's lack of commenting?

Blondie: I do remember one WT conductor told the audience that starting the next Sunday, if no one raised their hand to answer, he would call on someone without notice to do so and he did.

They only have the power over people that people give them. It would serve him right for someone to say "How would I know?" If I were there today in such a situation, I would use being called as an opportunity to say something goofy. "According the paragraph BLAH BLAH BLAH, but then that's all subject to an overlap."

Is my situation unique ?

so ubm here.

i have a jw wife who in 10 years of marriage i have never seen actually read the bible, never given a witness to me, never had a biblical discussion.

for a number of years now hardly even reads the magazines.

Steel, my JW wife is not totally away from her Bible and magazines and study, but pretty close. She also believes in college education and has "worldly" associates and puts vacation ahead of theocratic activity.

In my case, if I highlight any part of her "spiritual weaknesses" then she will strengthen her tie with Watchtower, so I have to just enjoy the fact that she is "weak" but not weak enough to let go.

Would this scenario make a totally devout JW renounce their faith?

we’ve all heard the stories of someone pointing a gun at a jw telling them to renounce their faith or die.

some live to tell about it, others don’t.

but what makes it seem easier to stomach is it just involves that person, no one else.

I am not a fan of the gun-to-the-head scenario. I don't think anything said would matter once the situation was over. Many, if they thought the situation was genuine, would have no problem saying what an assailant wants them to say, and they would not mean it.

A more realistic situation involving JW's would be one of having to break their rules and give blood to their child. Many secretly hope that a judge will force the issue rather than let their child die, but their worst nightmare would be knowing their child will die and nobody forces blood, so the parent must be the hero or the villain.

Refusing a blood transfusion

hello all, first post.

i've been lurking for months and figured it was time to post a few things, i've been pimo for the last couple of years.. i was doing some thinking about an adult refusing a blood transfusion, especially one that has several children.

when you married and had children, you signed up to take care of them, to love and protect them.

BourneIdentity, your thoughts are a valid point of view.

However, most JW elders wouldn't even step aside from responsibilities so that their barely adult disfellowshipped child could remain at home. I have met a fantastic couple at Tahoe who told the congregation otherwise on that subject when their son was sick and DF'ed, but that is rare.

Your view could possibly be more common as time goes on, more and more people tired of waiting on Paradise.
I hope so.

Is it OK to teach your children that Homosexuality is wrong?

i know a few family's who have left the cult but send their kids to a religious school because of the public schools teaching many times that homosexuality is ok. the bible is clear that its a sin.

there is no just love each other and its all ok. i don't believe in the bible or any religion.

i have a niece who came out as gay and i told her i don't care.

I don't doubt that it happens. I think public schools should mostly just teach that people are different and different people are okay. I don't think there should be any groups/clubs homosexuality or heterosexuality themed, but to just teach acceptance and let kids focus on the three R's and sports and music and art, stuff like that.
