Jesus fulfilling old testament prophecies like his legs not being broken
by Isambard Crater inwhat are everyone's thoughts on this, how his legs weren't broken, he was pierced with a spear and he wore a thorny crown?.
i'm pimo and very much not wanting to believe, but like the daniel statue prophecies, these ones about jesus stick in my mind and give me "hmmm, maybe" moments..

Now you spin it around to accuse me of spinning it around. Classic.
"The very fact that [I] have an opinion about Jesus' claim to be God's Messiah PROVES the validity of the OT scripture that says 'the people have seen a great light'".
I have an opinion about Mohammed abd Vishnu and others....but I am not on a Muslim debate forum or other forum dealing with non-Christian cults.
People living before the NT was writen were without the Messiah yet they could have a clue about the contents of the OT. I left a group that insisted I need someone else to understand the Bible.
And by your own logic- The fact that people believe in any of the gods of the world is some kind of proof of their validity.

Dear myelaine,
There are various belief statements that can be said of Islam, Thor, Isis, any number of gods that would go the same way as saying "The very fact that you have an opinion ...."
Your statements show how closed your mind is...and how you try to spin it around on unbelievers.
So I am not interested in a new debate with someone like that. Good day.

Crazyguy,
Interesting observation. If Jesus had really performed such great miracles such as calming the storm, resurrection ... no writer would search for so weak as irrelevant, prophecy-looking verses from OT to prove Messiah's credential. It's not only redundant but also back-firing.
Very good point. "Christ Jesus brought the dead back to life, he calmed a violent storm, and.....oh, yeah- So sayeth the Psalms that his legs would not be broken, that happened too." -

They have to step down
by Gorbatchov inwith all the leaked information, it has to be a one way direction to the exit for the watchtower leadership and gb.. they can not stay.. it can take time, but this is the only scenario.. g..

Besides the ARC, what exactly are you saying will cause them to step down?
I am with DJS on this. It doesn't really matter what comes out if they can say it is "the world" causing it. -

A few more page 2 replies-
Flipper, I think Trump said "....the poorly educated." The word "poorly" is rather important to me. It comes from someone who had opportunities, but isn't necessarily applying what he was exposed to. It's important because of my wife's Masters Degree. She got through school, but doesn't apply any of the ways of thinking, just went for the documents. And it allows her to think she is not "poorly" educated.
When we talked about whether she was conservative or liberal, she really had no clue. Nobody should have to be told what they are, but should figure it out on their own.
sporece, we have discussed the delay of Armageddon. Of course it is around the next corner. Mainly, she has discussed what we are going to do at retirement. I have a decent pension and she has moved around in jobs too much to have anything but social security. I told her we should stay where we are when I retire and she can stay with her current school system until she has the minimum years for a pension. She says "NO WAY! I want to move to somewhere warm." She seems to think that all will be wonderful in retirement. Sometimes when she asks about "the plan," I say "Armageddon is supposed to arrive, you are supposed to keep your eyes simple. So don't worry about it." But really, I notice that she doesn't really believe the end will come in our lifetime, so she wants to enjoy her autumn years.Island Man, very good suggestions. She does seem to be of the mindset that education is the answer, she does need more reminders to push the JW mindset a wee bit further from the tip of her tongue.

I sincerely believe that, like fictional movies and television that do not have to put up disclaimers because everyone knows its fiction, everyone pretty much knew back in the days that their religious story tellers were telling fictions without saying so.

Are You An Angry Exjw At This Point In Your Life?
by minimus ini’ve been here for many years.
the tone seems to be different in this place.
not so many pissed off exjws .

I have been here a long time with Minimus since he was the 7 Up Dot. He certainly would be talking of people like me. I was the angry ex-JW and have let much of it go.
As time goes by, you realize that clinging to all your anger issues allows them to continue to "rent space in your head." Sure, my wife is still a JW, but carrying a chip on my shoulder constantly only serves to wreck my shoulder and does nothing to free my wife from the cult.
We get that we cannot let go of every issue, and we don't belittle those whose closest loved ones shun them. But when we want some serenity, we have to let some things go.

IT's JUST A STORY!
Hosea 11:1- "When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son."
So when I write my gospel, I will make sure to include that somehow.
Matthew 2:15- "where he stayed until the death of Herod. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: 'Out of Egypt I called my Son.'"
So another story goes-
Exodus 12:46- In one house it shall be eaten; you shall not carry any of the flesh outside the house, nor shall you break one of its bones.
Numbers 9:12- They shall leave none of it until morning, nor break one of its bones. According to all the ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it.
Psalm 34:20- He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken.
The Israelites probably had no idea why they could not break the bones of the lamb. But they avoided doing it because God said not to do it.
So when I write my gospel, I will make sure to include THAT somehow.
John 19:36- For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
If the OT said something that made people believe that the messiah definitely would have some feature or backstory, then a writer in later centuries would certainly want to mention those features or backstory, whether or not the events happened or if the backstory is totally fictional.
