So Scientology actually bankrupted Cult Awareness Network? I was aware (and was absolutely horrified) that they had taken over the website, but did not know the particulars of how that happened.

i moved house and had to wait 4 weeks for the internet to be connected:(.
okay so when i was talking with the brothers, somehow they got me to agree to come up with a list of jw teachings i don't agree with.
for some reason the po gave the number as "12".
don't ask me why he came to that conclusion.
This list is good for one thing and one thing only: Removing yourself from the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses.
The elders will not give it the attention it deserves, other than to tell you that by your actions you are gone. (Wouldn't it be wonderful if I am wrong? Wouldn't it be wonderful if at least one sincere brother does research to "encourage and upbuild" you... and he realizes he cannot disprove it? Wouldn't it be wonderful if your list became the seed of doubt for someone else? Yes, it would be wonderful, but I wouldn't bet on it.)
Just remember: There are no more subtly planted seeds once communication is severed.
my daughter is in the hospital with pneumonia, and possibly a blood clot in her lung.
they'll be testing through the night...apparently, her heart is enlarged as well.
she is scared... and if her jw father catches wind of it, he will be there trying to intefere with her treatment... he lives close by to her, so i'll be flying down in the morning....to head him off at the pass.

A few have already mentioned meditation. And yes, after years of thinking I was doing something wrong and thinking that I could not meditate, I am very happy to say that yes, when I meditate I can and do get to the state of mental silence. It is amazing, and I do so highly recommend it!
But as for asking someone what they are thinking... they should not answer "nothing"... what they really mean is "nothing I want to tell you about".
a close friend of mine enlightened me a couple of weeks ago by telling me so many things about the wt.
that's how i first heard about the involvement with the un, russell's pyramidology (freemason symbols), dates, etc.
this friend also used terms like 'mind control' and 'rank and file', which i'd never heard before in this context.

as i've read through the new elder's book, something kept nagging at me about it.
then i went to compare one passage in the new book to the old and it hit me.
i've mentioned it on a couple of posts, but i wanted to start a thread on it.... what hit me was that the new book was like an instruction manual to supervisors in a plant.
