  A bombing at a Coptic church in Egypt killed 21 people and injured 79 more on New Year's day.
  
  Although the identity of the terrorists was not known, it was assumed that they were Muslim extremists, and religious tensions immediately began to rise, which is probably what the terrorists wanted.
  
  However, a show of unity between the religious factions was evident by last Thursday night on the Coptic Christmas Eve. “As Egyptian Copts attended mass at churches across the country, “thousands” of Muslims, including “the two sons of President Hosni Mubarak,” joined them, acting as “human shields” to protect the Christians from terrorist attacks. The Muslims organized under the slogan “We either live together, or we die together!”
  
  Egypt’s majority Muslim population stuck to its pledge to collectively fight for an Egypt free from sectarian strife, dramatically demonstrating that people everywhere want peace!!
  
  This could very well be the most significant story in a long time, and yet, I don't believe it's covered in any western mainstream mass media.
  
  Millions of Christians are prejudiced against Muslims. I've heard preachers passionately explain why the Islamic community is innately evil. Yet, here they are, thousands of Muslims, constructively trying to build community and pull their country together by protecting their Christian neighbors!
  
  Help break down old prejudices by sharing this story with your friends.
  
  This year, let's spread awareness of all the good in the world and watch it grow!

  Sad Family News.....

  on friday morning, sometime before noon, my former son-in-law [for lack of better term, for he and my daughter were never married], father and custodial parent of my middle granddaughter, was found dead of an overdose of pain-medication.

  perhaps oxycontin, though i am unsure of the specific drug at the moment.. he was enduring pain from an accident with his moped [yes, he was lifetime license removed for drinking] that occurred a year or so back.

  his shoulder was injured and he had a surgery scheduled soon.

  Hello and welcome!

  One more point I have to add to all of the great advice that has been given here:

  Do not have relations with her again. You mentioned that she wanted children soon. If she thinks you are leaving, and she is as unstable as she sounds, she would lie about birth control just to get a child from you in an effort to entrap you. You think things are complicated NOW? There is no comparison!

  desire is the source of suffering, but zen can deflate your desires.. desire can make us want things, even when we know we don't really want them!.

  fear can debilitate our functioning, but zen can help pull the mask off the things that scare you most.. we are a society of worriers, but worry is an unproductive expenditure of energy.. once you determine your personal sources of dukkha (dukkha means suffering, or a deep feeling of discomfort and dissatisfaction), you can master your desires, fears, and worries with the regular practice of zazen (zazen means "sitting meditation") and a zen attitude.. .
