I agree, keep the faith. I have seen kitties come home under astounding circumstances. In the meantime, I truly understand how you feel!
A friend of mine made flyers with his cat's photo and his phone number and address, and took them to every single one of his neighbors (heaven knows we understand door-to-door work!) His cat was found and all was well.
Good luck!

No Tape Recorders at Elder Schools? WTS Hanging Elders Out to Dry
by skeeter1 inelders are not allowed to bring tape recorders to elder school or elders-only type meetings.
elders can only take hand notes, usually inside the wide margins inside the elder's book.
i think the watch tower society is hanging the elders out to dry.. 1) being an elder is an important job, let's face it.

Bingo. All of the regulations are either about CONTROL or protecting themselves legally!

A deep deep hurt
by sooner7nc inwhen i was a couple of months old my father was put into prison in seagoville, texas.
the watchtower took him away from me for almost 2 years and destroyed almost all hope that he and i would ever have a normal relationship.
i say this because i believe the bond that we should have formed when i was a baby was severed forever and that's the damnable shame of it all.

Hello and welcome, Former! I am so very glad you are there for your sister. She is going to need you.
You said:
bigmac, it doesn't concern me a bit what they call it, but you can find the scriptural precedent here:
At this God said to Moses: "You shall call it a church, and it shall prove to be a memorial to me to times indefinite." And later he added: "This is what you are to say to the sons of Israel, 'On second thought, Kingdom Hall sounds way fancier.'" (2 Balonians 3:14, NWT)Too funny. Thank you. I'm very glad you're here.

Curtains, NPD is NOT a cultural or generational difference. NPD is a real, recognized, diagnosable abnormality. These people literally do not have empathy the way that "normal" healthy functioning people do.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a very real psychological aberration.
Another good site on the subject:

Marking, thank you for that article & "checklist," Jonesie.
Jam, don't worry about this being discussed before, this is always an enlightening subject, and far too many don't know about Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
Narcissists have a way of making everyone around them look like the damaged ones, and children and spouses of narcissists often blame themselves until they can make sense of something that really makes no sense at all.

Latest research findings: The more believers doubt their own beliefs, the more they proselytize in favor of them .
by AndersonsInfo inon december 10, 2010, appearing in our local newspaper was an article titled, social science palooza, written by columnist, david brooks.
"every day, hundreds of thousands of scholars study human behavior.
every day, a few of their studies are bundled and distributed via e-mail by kevin lewis, who covers the social sciences for the boston globe and national affairs.

Quotes:
I'm only going to quote one study found in Mr. Brooks column, the results I found fascinating which indeed should spark conversation on this discussion board.
"Classic research has suggested that the more people doubt their own beliefs the more, paradoxically, they are inclined to proselytize in favor of them. David Gal and Derek Rucker published a study in Psychological Science in which they presented some research subjects with evidence that undermined their core convictions. The subjects who were forced to confront the counterevidence went on to more forcefully advocate their original beliefs, thus confirming the earlier findings."
In light of this study, do you think the Witnesses who are the most vigorous in defending their religion, really doubt their beliefs?
Great find, Barbara! One thing that I have noticed is that when doubts begin to bubble to the surface, the fears of those doubts cause many to become much more active in the Organization than usual. In other words, doubts cause zealousness. For those who cannot ignore their doubts and realizations, that zealousness is a temporary "fix". For others, it becomes the busywork and mindset that keeps them blinded to their own realizations for decades.
