High Profile Case: Seeking Reinstatement
by headisspinning inbut our situation is very difficult and quite high profile.... i was raised as a jw and my mother was very strict and abusive.
i got baptized at age 14.. my mother actually called on my (present) husband's mom in service.
she was on the initial call resulting in his mom coming in the truth and him being raised in it from about age 8 or 9.. despite a very abusive step-father, he followed his mom's lead and came into the truth.

First of all, welcome, Head is Spinning!
Secondly, wow. I'm so sorry you two are going through this right now. I very much hope that you two can become stronger in all ways, and I am so glad he is seeing a therapist! Congratulations on your little one.
I'm glad you are here. Keep reading, keep posting. This place can be a godsend for venting and for gathering information. Please just keep your heads and your dignity in all of this... there is nothing dignified about having to face a body of elders.
Strength to you both.
Love,

Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 Winter Tires
by Simon inso, after 3 and a bit winters in canada i finally invested in a set of winter tires.
up till now i've had a good set of all-seasons (goodyear assurance tripletred) and they have been very good even coping with a sudden calgary freeze last winter that saw accordian buses sliding back down the hill we were on (scary!
) and general chaos on the roads.. but, driving on the deerfoot on solid polished sheets of black-ice in rush-hour traffic is not nice and you could feel the car getting more than a little vague at times.

So could one leave the Winter tires on all year? What would be the drawback, lessened gas mileage? And also someone mentioned they can be noisy on the pavement...

Hello Everyone
by Retrovirus ini have lurked for a few weeks, and gathered that a bit of background is expected; understandably.
i'm from a reasonably dysfunctional family, and my brother married a really nice lady who was "studying" with the jws.
over the years i saw this independent, funny lady change.

Welcome, Retrovirus!
Some very helpful books: Steven Hassan's "Combatting Cult Mind Control" and more importantly his "Releasing the Bonds" which is more for getting loved ones out of a mind-control situation.

Rutherford's Doctrines are Dead and so are the Reasons for JWs House-to-House Ministry
by AndersonsInfo interry, a very astute poster on jwn recently started the following thread of interest:.
when i read the posts on terrys thread, i was reminded that in my last two articles, which can be read on freeminds and were posted recently on jwn by randy watters, i discussed the changes made to two major old watch tower doctrines that have definitely affected todays door to door ministry of jehovahs witnesses: .
1) the teaching, vindicate jehovah's name," officially changed in 1993, after seven decades of use, to "sanctify jehovah's name" (which is more in line with the lord's prayer, "let your name be sanctified").

People will die for the blood issue and they REALLY have no understanding why they will die or allow their loved ones to die. They just know they can't take blood.
Profoundly said and profoundly sad, Minimus.

Hello and welcome, Not Bitter!
Wow, does your story sound familiar. I had been out for many years and I did not get ANGRY until I found this site. The interesting thing is that I did NOT go looking for this site (no kidding, I found it completely accidentally while researching something else) but my oh my, did it change everything.
It's not a fun stage to go through, but it feels much better once you are on the other side! We're glad you're here.
Love,

Great observations, Barb!
You said:
What has been the result? Constant doctrinal change has Witness preachers knowing little about their religion and they generally prefer it that way. And they don’t know exactly why they go door to door because they are no longer separating the sheep from the goats or vindicating Jehovah’s name. They continue to say that they are the only ones on earth advertising, advertising, advertising a Kingdom that is supposedly ruling that few people on earth know about or associate with the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
If the Society can’t come up with a way to motivate their bored preachers to zealously participate in the preaching work, Rutherford’s admonition to advertise the Kingdom will soon go the way that his “vindicating God’s name,” “separating sheep and goats,” and “generation” teachings went—into oblivion.
I have noticed several threads lately where the householder (the one who writes the thread!) tells of Witnesses at the door, not ringing the doorbell at all... and/or knocking so very softly so as not to be heard.
It is so very true... the "new" Witnesses do NOT know about their religion, and yes, they DO seem to prefer it that way. The zeal is gone... and that is something we here can watch with interest.
