  i've been a long-time reader of this site and have found it everything from informative to entertaining... but i'm now posting because i'm craving the ears (or eyes, i guess) of people who understand.. .

  my mother was just last week diagnosed with an "ovarian type" cancer.

  the oncologist discussed with her how far the cancer has already spread, and said she would operate immediately to remove as much of it as possible, but would not proceed if my mother resisted a transfusion as the risk of blood-loss will be too great.

  Aw, Voodoo Lady, we are very happy to have you here!

  It makes sense that is the blood issue is the hardest thing to give up, really... we were prepared to DIE for that conviction, no matter what the "logic" or "facts" of the situation might be presented. I was fascinated by that discussion also... I think there are a great many ex-Witnesses who still risk their lives by refusing a transfusion. We are taught to be repulsed by it... taught to think it is an abomination.

  Watchtower cleans out Kingdom Hall Library's ...

  last night i got a call from a chap in the uk, who recently left the jw's.

  he wanted to compare notes with his us counterparts.. he said that a few years ago, (i think about 2 years ago) the society cleaned out all the literature from every kingdom hall, particularly russell and rutherford books and anything prior to 1950. giving each hall a computer with the watchtower cd rom for them to use for research.

  he wanted to know if the same was done in the states.

I recall boxes and boxes of books, tracts, booklets being put into cars and being hauled off to thye Brooklyn. I specifically remember the letter emphasizing the need of Russell/Rutherford era literature. I later found out that the Society had a bonfire with the books. Randy Watters verified it for me many years ago.

  Wow! I had no idea. This just gets creepier by the day. Good heavens... another lie... another cover-up. That bizarre convention drama about burning books just became much more fitting.

  RR do you have a link to any comment by Randy or anyone else on this? Of course no active Witness will believe it.

  i am so thrilled to find this forum.

  it is such a relief to know that all of us 'apostates' are normal people who had the nerve to question what has been crammed down our throats.. i am 4th generation ex-jw with family members at bethel, doing missionary work, and pioneering.

  even though i have been out for almost 20+ years, i still had guilt admitting to myself that this was a cult-like organization until just recently.
