I know for me the change of season has much to do with the increase of my negative thoughts. I know this may sound simple but what helps me is to exercise, even just a couple of times a week really does help. Also just what you are doing by talking about it is great too.

Do you truly WANT the Watchtower to collapse? If so why?

there are the abuses of course, the diabloical 'two witness' rule applied to allegations of molestation, the reckless 'blood ban' in all it's tortuous complexities (which by watchtowers own admission has resulted in many fatalaties) and the cruel punishment of shunning which has caused so much suffering and pain to many of us here.. is it for these reasons that you want to see the watchtower fall or is it simply that you want to see them humiliated and broken for what they've done to you?

most of us aren't bitter or selfish enough to want personal revenge against the watchtower but i'd be lying if i said i didn't sometimes think like that.. the reason for my original question is that i sometimes feel a bit hypocritical.

i try to accord respect to jw's and individuals of all faiths, (yes, even when i go off on one of my atheistic diatriabes) but whereas i allow myself to be hostile to the watchtower i shrink from being so forthright against other 'christian' faiths whose corrosive nature may not be so easily apparent but is there nonetheless.. i guess my question is; why do we want the watchtower to fall but do not wish all religion to fall?.

The problem is that if it did fall most would reason it is Satan attacking God's organization. Just like when people try to show witness the truth now, they claim its all apostate lies. The FS have already programmed the RF to responed in this way, so I doubt it would really matter that much.

What is the nature of addiction?

noname's topic about the 'the walk of shame' got me thinking about the nature of addiction.. does having an addiction mean you cant help what you are doing?

or that you can help it a little bit?

or that you can help it completely and just arent trying hard enough (essentially the religious position)?.

I think it's very difficult for society or people to understand other people's addictions. For example, I found it extremely easy to loose weight when I needed to. I don't really understand people who say they can't loose weight and appear to be eating all the time. However, I have had trouble with drink binges over the years and some people would scorn that this is mearly a matter of self control

I just saw a report on tv about obesity and over eating. They showed that ones who are obese have less connectors in the brain, so they have to eat more to feel satisfied. Eating produces chemicals in the brain that make you feel good, plus it is instant satisfaction once you start. Then when you feel bad after the high you become depressed, thus needing to eat more, its a cycle just like other addicitions.

I believe that addicitive personalities are passed from generation to generation. My grandfather was an alcoholic, my brother struggles with drug addiction(heroin), not to say you can't stop the cycle, but you are more prone to be one.

Better watch out, cause how cute she is, she will be on that show in about 10yrs!

When the UN scandal got into the mainstream media, the cowards at Brooklyn resigned from the UN within TWO DAYS. If this ever gets out into the main media, I mean bigtime, even more than it has already, then Brooklyn will probably bring in some 'new light' and maybe drop the 'two witness' rule for child abuse infringements. That will be a good thing, but it would only go to prove that the only thing motivating them is saving Corporate face, nothing to do with righteousness and love. Hypocrites and cowards. A few years back Date Line did a story on JW's and child abuse, I think it was on a Thursday night. The Org. knew about the date of airing before, so that night there was a letter read, that was sent out in advance. I think it was some new light that victims have the right to go to the authorities!

its not that i can't support him with what i make, but i feel that it is her obligation to help.

i know she is struggling right now, so i have reserved the rights for child support.

Well just an update on what happened when I asked.

She doesn't think that it is a formal setting is needed to contribute to her son. She says she has no money and when she does she would give what she could. I could tell she was very irritated by our discussion, at one point wanting to get her attorney invovled.

I talked with my attorney who told me to back off, since we have court on Friday. Right now I have reserved the right for child support, based on her financial state. I think my attorney just wants us to get the divorce final and go from there. Which I totally agree with....so we shall see.

in the dec 1 wt first article on antichrists they state "adding to the confusion,many bible translators have taken god's name,jehovah,out of there translations,even though it occurs over 7,000 time in the original text!".

i am curious since the name jehovah is a recent invention or corruption which original texts could possibly contain this name 7,000 times?

it seems to me like they are trying to blow a lot of hot air at the faithful.. it also seemed to me that they were trying to draw a firmer link between "apostates" and the antichrist.

I'm so glad the "new light" has straightened this out for us!

I would say the anti-christ would be an organization who sets themselves up as the only way to salvation!
