my family knows that i post on this forum (they have a packet of print outs of topics i have started) and they know about my videos on youtube.. they have made a demand that i cease all internet communication with the apostate community and then they will have me back.. i have refused.. they say i am a narcissist because i am ignoring the feelings of my family because they are very hurt by the things i am doing on the internet and speaking out against the religion.. interesting since they had to search out my posts and videos to gather evidence of apostasy.. -sab.
It seems to me when Sebatious is posting on youtube he is basically doing the same as his family when they go door-to-door - publicly bashing another religion. But in their viewpoint what they are doing is OK, even required, but if he does it, he is "Narcisstic". I find that people resort to name calling when they can't find a logical argument against something.
I find Debators comments interesting. I shudder because it makes me realize that I used to think like that.
i just found out that i have breast cancer on thursday (see topic http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/medical/190249/1/i-was-in-the-hospital ).
my sister has breast cancer too.
she has had it longer than me.

I've never given a gift, birthday or otherwise that I did not enjoy giving, and I don't think I've never gotten one that didn't feel like it was given in love and with joy. For most of my friends a simple birthday greeting is all that is wanted or needed. So one day out of the year my friends say "Happy birthday" and my husband takes me out to dinner and buys me a trinket. It's simple human connection and bonding. I also give (and get) gifts throughout the year. If that takes anything away from God or makes me pagan, so be it. I don't buy the logic, never did, never will.
I used to have "present day" for my kids, because I like celebrations and fun and I didn't want them to feel like they were missing out on anything. It was no big deal, a few (very few) wrapped gifts, a little crepe paper and baloons. I was critisized for that. I guess I could give gifts if they weren't wrapped? Or maybe it was the baloons? Not sure what made it wrong, it just amazed me that soneone could nitpick on me for that.

Since Jesus knew all about Birthday celebrations, if they are so wrong, why didn't he preach against them? It seems like more of a cultural thing to me, it just wasn't the Jewish custom at the time, so what. There were probably many things the Romans did differently than the Jews, it doesn't make any of those things wrong.
For example, (I'm making this up, obviously), say the Roman sandals had 3 straps, the Jewish sandles had 2 straps. Now Jesus knew all about the 3 strap sandles, but didn't choose to wear them. Beside 3 straps are not necessary when 2 will do, it must be a vanity thing, and vanity is wrong and takes away from worship of God. So no true christian would ever wear 3 strap sandals, right?

I've been here in Colorado 10 years and never had a JW come to my door, even though I work from home. Once I had a tract left, but that's about it. It's been kind of nice, actually. I've had more visits from the Mormons.

Wow- never ceases to amaze me how little care and love is extended by the org. Years of being regular in service and meetings, you stop going and no one cares, except that they want to acuse you of wrongdoing, even though there is no evidence of it. Shame on them, this is really sick. Congrats on getting an education and making a decent life for yourself.

a couple of posts by hamsterbait motivated me to post this.. the elimination of the book study: it was the only place where those who were shy, or anxious, about commenting would comment.
it was small, intimate and we had a lot of fun.

The bookstudy used to be my favorite meeting. It was only an hour, it wasn't usually as boring, it was less formal. Due to health problems, I sometimes couldn't do the school and service meeting, but I could usually manage the book study. And the ban on congregation picnics is truly sad. My husband was DF'd so that meant I couln't invite anyone over, and so rarely got invited anywhere either. Those picnics were sometimes my only association outside the hall. If you are on the fringes, like I was, you basically have no social life. This religion just keeps getting more controlling and rigid and sad.
