I'm pretty "crafty", I dabble in a lot of different things - you know jill of all trades mistress of none! I have a small business doing antiques, and handmades. I fix up old junk furniture, do some floral, some sewing, Collage, woodworking, paper crafts, you name it, I've probably tried it. I had a space in a retail co-op for 6 years, which I have left due to an upcoming out of state move. I have a website and a blog where I share project ideas. I'm pretty excited as I have an ad going into Romantic Homes magazine for the January issue - it's a bit of a gamble, but I'm getting some sales already with minimal promotion, so I think I can at least make my money back (very small ad). I feel very lucky as my husband supports my doing this business, even though I don't make much. I had a corporate type job, and when I god laid off he was OK with my doing this instead. I'd post the website, but I don't know if that violates the rules on here.

Coffee - those are some adorable little ones. Having grandchildren is oneof the best things in life, that's for sure. I just wish I didn't live so far away from mine.
Facebook is weird. You are supposed to be able to e-mail video directly from face book, but it didn't work for me. It says it's sent, but I never got it, however I've been able to e-maill that same video to others. I finally had my son directly e-mail me the video and then I was able to upload to Photo bucket. Technology is amazing, but frustrating at times.

Supermarket Spirituality Is Two Edged
by metatron ini met a 40-ish lady who is into some new age stuff.
we talked about religion and it turns out she comes from a strict southern baptist family and is an ordained preacher therein.. i didn't press the issue (wanting to be polite) but i did mention "supermarket spirituality" - as her hindu dances, channeling, and more private stuff is way off the map for a fundie.
she didn't seem bothered by this as she reasoned that 'jesus is still lord somehow and god is still the creator somehow".

I've seen Hindus that are just as extremist and controlling as any other religion. In this country we usually see the more moderate end of the spectrum, so you think it's all like that. I read an article about meditation that said unless you were doing it in a certain way (their way) x many hours a day, is this certain particular way, it was all for nothing. Which is absurd, as there are as many ways to practice meditation as there are people who practice it, and if you getting a benefit from it obviously it's working for you.
I don't see a problem with people adopting some "new age" practices while staying a Babtist. It might be a transitional thing, and she will someday give up one or the other. On the other hand she may have found something that works for her.

Oh no! You cursed!
by bottleofwater inhave any of you met witnesses who thought that crap or ass is a curse word?
any other words?.

My mother thought crap was a swear word. I always had a hard time with swearing, as to me, there are times when "Oh Peanut Butter", just doesn't do it. I found that when I am swearing too much, it's because I'm stressed and I stop and think about why I'm so stressed and do something about it. But if I hit my thumb with a hammer ( and I do that a lot), I'm going to let it fly.

If you felt/feel that you had/have good, close "friends" in the org, how did/does it feel to just give them up?
by Crisis of Conscience inthis is my biggest dilema.
although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.
i love people!.

I had a small circle of friends, people that I had known over 20 years. I had moved to a different area, so didn't see them more than once or twice a year (never clicked with anyone in my new area), but still they were dear to me. I knew when I left that the friendships would be over, and it hurt. I still miss them and think of them from time to time. I wouldn't say that it was not true friendship because they will no longer talk to me, as I understand how the brainwashing works. I'm sure they miss me to a certain extent, but are doing what they think is best. I have made new friends, some very close, so the pain has eased, but it still hurts a bit 10 years later.

Makes No Sense
by Farkel indub: "we're offering this here book that explains the truths of the bible.".
householder: "i already have that book.".
dub: "did you read it?".

It all makes perfect sense, you are just being difficult. Everything the bible says is true, and we follow the bilbe, so everything we say about the bible is true, You just have to follow the (circular) logic, otherwise you will die at Armageddon, DUH!

Sorry about the facebook video, I'm new to the whole facebook thing.
I'll give it one more try - this is my Grandaughter, Lain (age 2) with her new squeeker shoes in a WW2 cement bunker - you need the sound up for the full effect. I use photobucket for Ebay, so I'm pretty sure everyone will be able to see it.
