Issues with the AA and alcoholism, could do with some advice.
by digderidoo inas many of you are aware i started to attend aa meetings at the beginning of january, to finally confront my alcoholism.. since then i went the first 7 weeks without a drink, but then went away for a lads weekend and ended up getting drunk over a 3 day break.
i learnt from this that i could not control my drinking, so upon coming back i stopped drinking again.. this then led to another 7 weeks without a drink.
but last saturday was my birthday so i went out on the friday night and drank again, however this time i didn't get drunk, but controlled it, this also led to me having two glasses of wine on sunday, and i can honestly say that i didn't feel the crave for any more.. now as for attending aa meetings, they have really helped, i feel alot happier within myself since and have done many active things that i wouldn't have dreamt of doing this time last year.

Joke i have been sent today
by digderidoo ina friend of mine sent me this joke text today knowing my jw past.
so i thought i'd share it here.. two women called at my door and asked what bread i ate!
when i said ' white ' they lectured me on the benefits of brown bread for thirty minutes.

What is the scriptural basis for restrictions?
by digderidoo inok heres the scenario.. mom is still a jw.
her best friend and also neighbour (jw-elders wife) has a daughter who is "courting" (unofficially) someone who has just come back into the "truth", he has gone through his usual judicial process and repented from his wicked ways and has been publicly reproved.. now what puzzles me about this?.
he is on restrictions as he is not classed as being in "good standing" within the congregation.

Happy St.Patricks Day!!! Sat 15th March 2008
by digderidoo inst.patricks day this year has been changed to today 15th march by the catholic church so that it does'nt coincide with holy monday (17th march for 2008).
although i dont think many will take heed of this change.. www.channel4.com/news/articles/world/st+patricks+day+to+be+moved+in+2008/608847 - 35k.
bit mad as st. patricks day is generally held on the 17th, but as this is the case happy st.patricks day and careful on the guiness.. paul.

Wow.. I have changed
by digderidoo inas many of you are aware i have accepted i am an alcoholic for a couple of years, whilst cutting down loads over this period of time i recently have decided to attend aa, which has been a real help.. i have just looked through some old topics i posted, dating back to 2001, (which was a real dark period in my life).
what i have realised is how i have changed, call it growing up, whatever you like.
i find it interesting to see my opinions on matters and what i was going through at the time.. i would recommend anyone to have a browse through their old posts and see if it is the same for yourselves.. paul.

Bad Manners - One of the best live bands ever!
by digderidoo ini went to butlins, skegness this weekend on an 80's revival weekend.. playing there was toyah wilcox, who was good to begin with but her new stuff wasn't up to much.. on saturday night dr & the medics took to the stage who were absolutely brilliant.. but to top it off bad manners followed, all their ska hits!
took me right back to the early 80's, dancing and pogo'ing in the local youth club.
i have never seen such a large band enjoy their performance as much as buster bloodvessel and his crew!.

Which bible translation do you prefer?
by digderidoo ini have decided to buy myself a bible.. i have a new world translation but the large print version, so i tend not to use it.
after reading crisis of conscience i have decided to discard this translation anyway, but at a loss as to what translation to use.
i also have a few old king james bibles but the language is unreadable to me.

27 days sober...In new territory
by digderidoo ini would just like to give an update on my sobriety, as i have had one or two pms regarding it.. this time last year i went almost 4 weeks without a drink but found it incredibly hard each day, so eventually went out one night to see a live band in a pub and started to drink again.
this time feels different, in that i have the support of the aa and people pn this board to help me out.
i am not saying it has been easy but i have felt better for it.
