I Need to start over with this. It's one of the little things to do to feel pretty. After being a secretary for so many years, pretty, long nails were not an option if you wanted to keep producing at 70wpm.
So, can you tell me your secrets? Thanks in advance for your reply.
Sometimes just the little things let you feel girly.

I am going to throw a kink in this. First of all it was obviously just a story. (He saw box of pictures etc., in the corner) OK
Any person who has taken care of an 80 year old or an aging parent on a daily basis, is usually not treated this kindly by the same.
The story is great but is most likely not reality. The point being made is if you can make a difference in a small way in some one's life....DO IT.
But don't ever think there are a bunch of sweet little old 80 year old's out there.

My Son's JW Mom Sends Him Condescending "Guilt Inspiring" E-Mail
by flipper infirst of all- a little history.
my ex-wife a fanatic jw seems to be in a pissing match ( not of my choosing ) with me over trying to get my son back into the jw cult.
he's 25, been out of the witnesses since 17 and he is very happy with his life .he has a great girlfriend, he enjoys gardening growing his own vegetables and he is a performing singer/guitarist now writing songs and performing in front of hundreds of people .

Flipper,
I'm sorry I couldn't finish reading that e-mail. Instead of showing an interest in what your son was doing and his talents, she turned it around to the point that she was bragging about getting blisters on her feet doing God's work. It made me sick to my stomach.
It was degrading and condescending....she has been trained well.
Most Adults, would be taking notes for future gift ideas, questions to ask etc. Instead it was a plethora of statements, degrading his interests and abilities...
He might as well of written: I'm a drug addict, growing my own pot, running from the cops....and have committed many crimes. Oh by the way I'm in a band, but I play music in worship of the Devil, have you heard my latest song to him?
Just one case in point:
" Your conscience that strikes a chord every now and then, don't step on it, strengthen it. You can never say I didn't try my son - we all want you to be a part of our lives serving our grand Creator together ! Changing our lives don't happen overnight, our heart has to be moved to do so. "
Flipper, I don't know how you or your son hold your tempers. Strength and support to both of you!

I have a question for you all......
by its_me! inmy sister visited me a few months ago, and she was on a holy roller, 'save my soul' kick.
she told me that i needed to get back to the meetings because armageddon was so near.
i told her that if i serve jehovah, it will not be because i am afraid of dying at armageddon, it will be because i love him and have a personal relationship with him.

It's me, you asked:
my question is, has anyone used the "Armageddon is right around the corner, and you should come back so you don't die" reasoning on you? What was your reply, and how did you feel about it in relation to what you know about God?
Growing up in the 60/70 decades, it was the only thing used. We were not taught about God but to follow the Governing Body, be in fear that we would be taken out at Armageddon because of never doing enough and not measuring up to the WTBS requirements...... which in reality no one ever could.
I came to realize very early that I would never measure up, so gave up. Managed to get DF'd at age 16 in the year of the Big A scare.....Oh the horror! In all honesty, I thought I was going to be killed anyway, so why not enjoy life. I wasn't suppose to make it through high school.
The rules and regulations were extensive and "Big Brother" was alive and well established during those years. It was strongly encouraged to "report" to the elders any indiscretions, or thought patterns of anyone no matter how small, so that you would not be considered a party to any one's wrong doing.
It was literal insanity. Unless you were from that time period, there is almost no explaining how bad it was.

Who do you consider as a friend ??
by troubled mind inwhen we were witnesses every other witness was our "friend" ,but more often than not they were just aquantinces involved in the same religion as we were .
at the time i felt i would have given my life for others in my hall .
i tried very hard to be a good friend to others by showing personal interest in their lives and offering encouragement or help when they needed it ,but i never really felt a real connection with most .. i always wanted to have a friend and be the type of friend that could just stop by to shoot the breeze at anytime and feel welcome .

There have been few and far between, but the ones I do have I treasure with all my heart. I would never turn my back on them, nor they on me.
In our darkest hours we support each other. We grew up together, and despite sometimes months or even years of not being face to face, we always pick up like it was yesterday......or drop everything at a moments notice and board a plane despite being thousands of miles away. All but one I am related to which also makes them family.
I cannot imagine, ...... not having them in my life.

Have you hit your 50's? Are you feeling it, or do you still feel young?
by restrangled ini'm curious, because in my 40's i felt like a million dollars.
i am starting to feel it,....i just don't have the stamina of working in the yard all day, coming in making dinner and getting the laundry done at the same time, or working full time.. i see the years in my face when i don't get enough sleep, and no amount of makeup makes a difference.
my eyes seem to always look tired.

Jaguarbass...I still have to get a guitar.... don't know what to buy. Also Don't want to be just a guitar player of sorts after years playing the piano.
I realize I am going to have to hurt my fingers and learn the chords, and work, work, work!
I love the sound of acoustic guitars. Can you suggest something....Thanks!....keep in mind a 50 year old.....

Just to update any one who was reading this: Marinated the sirloin tip roast in Worcestershire, garlic, onion and black pepper....
Put it on the grill and it came out beautifully. (Wow did it smell good, and the house was never heated up)
In fact, so good, there are no left overs between the men in the house and a very pesky Doberman looking for fatty parts.
Thanks for every one's help.
