if you were a gb member how would you reply to this letter?.
i am writing in reply to your letter of the 22 nov 2001.. i had previously written with concern over some statements found in the aug 1, 2001 watchtower pg 14 which stated, a mature christian does not advocate or insist on personal opinions or harbour private ideas when it comes to bible understanding.
you asked me not to take the statement out of context, but failed to explain clearly how i had done so.. it is my understanding that it is believed that the governing body of jehovahs witnesses has the sole responsibility and is the sole channel that can understand and teach gods message in the bible.
If you were a GB member how would you reply to this letter?
Me as a member of the GB:
"you woke me for this?"
hi i have recieved another twisted story from a gung ho bro.
any one that reads this can see the mental attitude of the average dub.
" don said, "it's over!
You know, I was so busy wondering about where tapeworms would live in the new system (thanks to whoever brought up that interesting point), that I almost forgot about cars entirely.
Do witnesses know much about drilling for oil or is Harmaggedon really just the precursor for a Mad Max type gas crisis?
I think the story needs an interesting twist. Like, say a person that no one recognizes stumbles up to the group. Suddenly, they realize that this new stranger was never witness. Rather, Jehovah judged this person worthy to survive Armaggedon despite, say, their being a moonie... or maybe a Catholic. If you add this non-witness to the post-armageddon scenario, just think of all the possible inter-religious foibles that could ensue. Now, that's some serious hijinks!
hey fry day & you know,.
how many "infidels" had to fry to bring these many smiles.
to the faces of you two, and all your brothers and sisters?.
Take a good look at the people fleeing across the bridge in that photo. You'll notice they aren't smiling. Where are their looks of joy and relief for surviving? Where are the ear to ear grins?
Now look at the watchtower artwork again.
Sorry, but that's some seriously screwed up sh-t.
i am watching what i think is the dumbest movie ever put on film, the quick and the dead.
sharon stone (who i think looks great with no panties) absolutely sucked in this stupid movie.
whats with the plot of this yawner, its been done a bit too much.she was terrible and gene hackman must have needed the money when he signed on to do this groaner..just my opinion and we all know what they about opinions...they are just like assholes, we all have them and they all stink...
"Trog" with Joan Crawford. Ouch. What do you do when you find the missing link hiding in a mine? Why, surgically alter it and then teach it to speak. That is, if you have time between encouraging it to chase a ball.
But the scenes of the missing link running from dinosaurs- now that's good stuff!
i just stumbled onto this website whilst messing about on the internet and i've taken exception to quite a lot of what i've seen here.
incase you think i'm some irate jehovah's witness idiot who's been offended by the terrible blasphemy that he's read on here, i'm not.
i was raised a jw, but now i'm not one.. first of all, given the url, i thought this website was in some way affiliated with the jehovah's witness organization, whereas in reality it seems from the posts i've read that most people here are either former jehovah's witnesses or soon-to-be former jehovah's witnesses.
Xenu,
so what you are saying is that certain insults are tolerable as long as they seem bible based? So, for example, if I say that Jehovahs witnesses are guilty of idol worship (the organization) and of following men (the governing body), that's okay with you because those are issues raised in the bible? And if I say they are yet another whore of babylon that rode their scarlet colored beast with abandon, that's a suitable insult in your opinion?
Okay, well, that's what I think. If you disagree, you can talk it up with some dead guy. Now fairs fair, right?

Xenu, would you please address my response regarding name calling. Specifically, do you agree or not agree with my assertion that the WTBS derogatorily labels and "name calls" other groups and people?
in the context of this forum, happiness at its core is generally defined in one of two ways: a) being a witness or, b) not being a witness.
most of us consider ourselves happier since leaving the organization.
because of a recent discussion between violetanai and marilyn, i've thought about it some more, only to reaffirm the truth i already discovered some time ago.
I spent an afternoon this past weekend with one "the happiest people on earth". Only, he really wasn't so happy actually. In fact, he was so grief-stricken that he- literally- could hardly speak at times.
I've seen him struggle with "the truth" for a long time now. His world is slowly shattering and yet he clings to the organization desperately. It's beyond sad. He's not good enough or strong enough or faithful enough...he's sure the problem is with him, never them.
So, he hammers himself to the point where he feels like he "wants to die". And every one of his so called friends that are lovingly ignoring him...his family ...these people that he defends- these people are standing by doing nothing while he runs the risk of losing his only shot at livelihood because he can't pay his bills. He's nearing homelessness. His family and friends, they know what's going on. They could step up, they just don't. But he assures me, they would help. Yeah, really, they've done a fine job of it so far.
So, he spends his days a distraught, conflicted person trying to cram himself into that little box that he doesn't fit into. Because, I guess, he wants to be one of "the happiest people on earth"?!?
He'll be happy, dammit. Someday.
Sorry Teejay, I'm just going off- trying to let off a little steam after this past weekend. Maybe your mum really is happy. Is it better to die deluded? I don't know. All I know is for many people, they can't even hang onto the delusions any more- try as they might. And that is actually incredibly sad.

Xenu,
I can see why the name-calling issue might be troubling to you. But I would also ask that you understand my perspective- when I first came into this contact with this organization. How do you think I felt when I realized a group I had never had any occasion to form opinion on had already formed an opinion about me- and everyone else I know, for that matter. How do you think an outsider feels when they realize that this group calls us "worldly" in a derogatory manner? Calls all other religions derogatory names? How about all the "bad associations" who don't even know this little group is attacking them behind their backs, then knocking on their doors all sweet as can be? I didn't have a name or label for witnesses or the watchtower when I first became aware they even existed. But they had a name, a label, for me. It didn't occur to me to speak ill of the watchtower but it sure as hell occurred to them to speak ill of me.
I understand that you don't like the negativity, but you can you seriously say that "worldly" people (aka "bad associations") who are part of "Babylon the Great" and are slated to die at Harmageddon- can you honestly say that's not incredibly negative? Really?
They dish it out, but they can't take it?
Ever since I've come onto contact with this group I have seen such misery and sadness. It really breaks my heart. Sometimes it makes me mad too. So you'll probably hear a little bit of those things in my posts. I'm sure others feel the same way. You get emotions, they aren't always neat or easy to swallow.

Xenu,
Why don't you go back and read my post again. I gave some reasons that I think sites like this are helpful and important. You must have skipped over my post, or for some reason you don't think my thoughts on this matter are relevent?
