i just stumbled onto this website whilst messing about on the internet and i've taken exception to quite a lot of what i've seen here.

incase you think i'm some irate jehovah's witness idiot who's been offended by the terrible blasphemy that he's read on here, i'm not.

i was raised a jw, but now i'm not one.. first of all, given the url, i thought this website was in some way affiliated with the jehovah's witness organization, whereas in reality it seems from the posts i've read that most people here are either former jehovah's witnesses or soon-to-be former jehovah's witnesses.

I'm not a JW, never have been. I'm here because I have a link to them. A friend. Maybe you don't care that they have policies in place that severely limit a persons ability to grow and reason. Maybe you aren't particularly concerned with the death toll they've stacked up with their crazy blood/transplant issues. Maybe you don't care about the people struggling everyday to be accepted and loved only to face disappointment time and again. What can I say? I do care.

I wouldn't have known any real facts about the organization if I had relied on my JW friend to tell me information. My friend cannot be honest with himself, let alone me. I wouldn't know the healthcare restrictions, the cover ups, the misquotes or the ever-changing dates if sites like this hadn't existed. Would you rather there be no information available? Why? Because you aren't involved anymore so it doesn't matter?

I've seen the toll this high control group takes on people. It isn't right. I'm grateful to people who contribute to sites like this. These sites are very helpful.

Adam and Eve were physically removed from Paradise, right?
Paradise= place. God sends 'em packing. If you are likening expulsion from a physical place to disfellowshipping or excommunication then paradise=congregation to you, Mav? In which case, remind me again where are disfellowshipped ones encouraged to be? At meetings, no?

I'm not really sure what you are getting here perhaps you can explain it a wee bit better?

Again, I'm unclear on the difference you are trying to make between expulsion and disfellowshipping? But... a couple of questions: Who disfellowshipped cain? (and jokingly... did he appeal the judicial committees finding?)

Jw.com and titles?

i was thinkin lately about the use of titles and how they can be problematic such as the ones used on here such as jedi member,emperor class etc.think why r these titles put into effect is it maybe to encourage others to stay committed to jw.com and thus strive for a better title or prominence or even to the advantage of the owner of this website to remain loyal to the website and to keep the number of visitors high.you see if any of you who are previous witnesses well know how the use of titles can serve to no advantage titles only cause envy,division,etc "thats what i think"

Nah, just joking around with you. I really don't think those titles are of any significance. Lots of boards use labels to indicate how much you've posted. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

The scriptures make no reference to "his organization". If she would like to point to a scripture that defines apostasy as rejecting anything more than Jehovah, I'd certainly like to know about it. As far as I know, the scriptures only link apostasy to turning away from god. If you have not turned away from god then you cannot scripturally be considered an apostate.

This is quite a sad situation. Your sister isn't even addressing your points about the photos. Personally, I wouldn't be in the photos as it's shaping up to be nothing more than a sham and a lie. I would view it as simply putting on things for appearances sake.

It's possible that I would participate because ultimately I'm a softie but my advice right now is to avoid the pictures. I feel very badly that you have to go through this. My heart really breaks for people dealing with this kind of stuff.

I'm sorry you are in such a tough spot.

Large gatherings of religious events are as good a target as any I suppose and people should be cautious as a result. I'd say a religious assembly is just as likely a target as, say, a sporting event but I'm not sure that's entirely true. Sporting events usually have somewhat trained security guards whereas religious events do not necessarily have the same security level. However, any large event is suspect nowadays and that's to be kept in mind.

That said, I think you are talking about the Hanta virus (spelling issue or is there yet another creepy disease we have to worry about?)
