Does anyone here believe that Jesus never existed?

lovelylil2: No reliable bible scholar today has ever said that Jesus is merely a mythical character.

Of course, Bible scholars believe Jesus existed. The real question is, have scientists and scholars without bias toward the Bible found sufficient evidence that Jesus existed? Remember, we agnostics and atheists don't believe a priori in anything without convincing evidence.

I say the burden of proof lays on the unbelievers to prove the gospels are false.

Sorry Lilly, that's not how it works. Christians are the ones making the assertion he exists; therefore, they must prove it. It's like my saying, the Flying Spaghetti Monster exists and is all powerful and loving. Prove me wrong!

Are you the same lovely Lilly who posted under the name lovelylil? If so, welcome back! You were one of the few voices of rational Christian belief when I first came here.

my friend's girlfriend is visited by jws at least once a month.

she is not interested in jws but is friendly and always willing to talk.

they came by last friday and saw her boyfriend's car so the husband also came over (usually the jw lady comes with another 'sister').

Here's what I plan to do when the dubs visit me again:

parakeet: "Are you Jehovah's Witnesses?"

dub: "Oh, uh, ah, well, we're just in your area to discuss the Bible and its message of hope with you and your neighbors." [remember, dubs are instructed by the WTS not to let on that they're dubs; at least, not at first.]

parakeet: "I can see the Watchtowers from here. Are you, in fact, Jehovah's Witnesses?"

dub: "Well, yes we are, but our message ...... "

parakeet: "The very first question I ask you, you lie by omission. I don't want to be associated with people whose first impulse is to lie."

[dubs leave in disgrace.]

Hang upside-down pentacles by your front door and a sign that says, "A witch lives here."

Or better yet, "Attack dog on premises." When I was a dub, I would never even approach a property that had dog warning signs.

jonathan dough: I think it is a bit unfair to start off the article with "A Jehovah's Witness..." If he was Anglican they wouldn't bring that to your attention .....

The dubs claim to be better than everyone else. That's why it's worth bringing it to the public's attention. Of course, now the dubs will say he was never really a Jehovah's Witness.

Midwich Cuckoo: I hope if he IS guilty, then he will confess thus saving his (elderly) victims the extra stress of a trial.

Yeah, that's what this guy is concerned about -- stressing his surviving victims.

Try warm wet compresses (or a long, hot shower), a few ibuprophen tablets, a gentle neck message from friend (if available).

If you have any muscle relaxants, such as Soma, they will help. But DO NOT attempt to drive or do anything requiring coordination while you're taking them. I took a Soma last year for a pulled back muscle, then left to do some errands. I miscalculated a turn, whacked my tire against the curb, and had a blowout. I was lucky nothing worse happened. And I didn't feel "under the influence." Just a little tired. Very deceptive.

What is the meaning of life according to you?

since the meaning of life has change for most of us here, i thought it would be interesting to hear your answer to this question now.. for me, the meaning is to be close to family and friends, enjoy life as much as possible and follow my heart while being as good person i can be.. your turn.
