... I was stuck sitting next to a witness on the plane. I knew it was only a matter of time before it happens as I am on a flight every week for work.
Well, where do I start. First of all, he was very concerned about anyone seeing his laptop while he pecked away at the keyboard with some message to an instant messenger friend. He had all the magazines out and was talking on the phone about bible readings and public talk. I had so many thoughts on how to handle this but decided not to have any fun.
It was interesting to see him exert his 'police' tactics to remind passengers not to use the first class cabin to store their luggage if they were not sitting in first class. I know this may be a stickler for some, but the way he went about it with such audacity in his demeanor in thinking he had some sort of authority over people was sad? funny? distressing? (insert adjective here)?
One gentleman he said rather loudly, "Are you sitting in First Class?" The gentleman pretended not to hear him, the elder spoke up again and with a louder voice. The other passenger said, "Yes!, this is my seat right here!" Then the elder said, "Sorry, there has been a run on the luggage compartment in first class."
I guess the authority complex extends beyond the kingdom hall.

Questions on Assembly to help wife critically think
by insearchoftruth ingood afternoon,.
my wife is going to be attending the assembly in hampton, va this weekend and was wondering if there are any questions that i could ask her in advance to help her critically think about what is being said?.
it has been a while since she has attended either a meeting or a dc, so will be sort of like being hit anew with this stuff, but i think she has done a few bs with the pesky sister in the meanwhile, though she is being quite silent about it.. .

Well, in my instance, I kept 'dripping' tidbits of information about certains things that I knew would make her think. Now with our children getting older in school, and both her and I stressing to our children the importance of getting a good college education in order to provide for themselves in these times. Now when I told her about the CO letter regarding the discilinary actions against elders and ms who have children who attend college, she was silent and mouth wide open and then said, well that's stupid. I about chuckled out loud but kept a serious face and said, they are probably doing this to control the kids so they won't get better educated. She was totally against it and then our conversation opened up to all the things that I had been keeping stored up and now she is almost ready to say goodbye.
I am almost at the end of my journey to convice my wife of the dangers of the gb and the society. So I would say, patience is key. You cannot rush it. Be very careful in revelaing the information you know and be prepared to answer how you came to know such information.
Let your knowledge 'drip' to her and she will eventually come around. Most people will in time, whether they admit or not, inside they know. Be patient and flexible .

Witness fear of demons why?
by donny induring my ten year sojourn through the watchtower, i was always amazed at the witnesses fear and fascination with demons.
occasionally at gatherings, they would exchange "demon" stories, which were just a jw way of telling ghost stories, and you would usually hear a few "uhhs" and "oh my's" as the story was told.
although i had heard folks of other denominations mention demons, it was never with the "shock and awe" the witnesses put into it.

Why do they fear them in such a way when I read in Jude:
Jud 1:6 And those angels not having kept their first place, but having deserted their dwelling-place, He has kept in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of a great Day;
Maybe I'm taking this out of context, so feel free to correct me, but doesn't this mean that the demons are not really behind the bad things?

Watchtower Library Oddities :)
by truth.ceeker inwhile i was converting the iso images of the watchtower library cd-rom, i noticed a peculiar trend.
after copying the files into a folder named for each year and then 'zipping' it up, hovering the mouse over th zip archive will popup a small window that details how many files and folders as well as a small sampling of the first few files.
well, for the year 2004, winzip reports 666 files and folders, for 2005 it reports 693, and for 2007 it reports 666 files and folders.
