  NWT? Why a different bible?

  what is the common justification given by witnesses as to why they have a different bible?

  a friend once told me that it was because the other versions of bibles weren't translated accurately and things had been changed.

  at this though, she also told me that should i decide to study, i could use my own bible.

  I was fascinated by it, especially Daniel and Revelation, though the Isaiah book was dull. I still find bible prophecy fascinating, though from an exegetic perspective.

  this year, according to the 2008 year book, there were 9,105 partakers.. i guess now that they have permission to be annointed from the wts they decided to jump on board.. .

  I wonder if this is why they aren't studying the statistics in the WT this year, they're so used to it being 8000ish they would actually have noticed the strange increase this year.

  A question about Nephilim

  it seems like the nephilim are a favorite subject of my jw friend.

  it's one of the first things she likes to bring up with people to show how much she "knows" about the bible.

  of course, many christians also believe that the nephilim are the result of a sexual union between fallen angels and humans.

  Why you still go on Field Service? Why Elders posts on JWD?

  just wondering if your conscience bothers you that you are continuing to "spread the jw gospel"?

  Though I'll echo what others have said, Field Service is only successful when the Jehovah's Witness is really determined to find a study and works very hard. A Jehovah's Witness that does not want success will not have success.

  the author claims to be a presiding overseer, and claims to have lost his son to suicide after the son was df'd.

  If you did want to join one though, make sure you're allowed to disagree.

  now, there are so many from which to choose...where is one to start?.

  well, since i'm an old-timer, i must by default cast my vote for clayton j. woodworth, that inspired author and editor of the golden age who single-handedly warned the world about the dangers of aluminum cookware and vaccinations, among so many other things.. only once in a generation comes along a man with such inspired insights as to baffle the minds of mere ordinary humans..

  I have to vote for Woodworth. Franz wrote some crazy stuff, but whereas Franz tends to give me a headache, Woodworth has literally had me laughing out loud at times.
  
  Special mention to whoever came up with the 7 trumpets applying to 7 conventions in the 1920s that nobody remembers, and the writer in the Daniel book who said Jesus was already "standing up" but could still "stand up" at the appointed time.
