  My Dad's doing the first one in my Congregation, so I may go this week.
  
  I think everybody's quite excited about this, 15 minutes less will make a big difference to how boring meetings are.

  Concrete Reasons for Being a JW (or member of any religion)

  here is a question i've been wanting to ask hubby: "why do you want to be a jw?

  " and i don't want ethereal answers like "they have the truth" "everlasting life" and other such nonsensical ramblings.

  i am not a member of any organized religion and i don't see the appeal.. can anyone answer the question with a concrete reason?.

  I once managed to get a group of Jehovah's Witnesses to admit they would not be Jehovah's Witnesses if there was not a Paradise Earth hope. There is no other reason. It's 'The Truth' neither here nor there, because I don't think most Jehovah's Witnesses like their religion, it's too burdensome, a lot only force themselves to like it because of the Paradise Earth belief.

  is it a worldly person that thinks jws do not tell or have th truth or a convicted paedophile that is disfellowshipped but stil believes in the truth!l l

  It would depend on the dub, I don't like to generalise. I think many of them would look down more on the pedophile than the worldly person.

  we found this quiz after reading the book parenting beyond belief and sweetpea and i decided to take the challenge - afterall how difficult can 50 bible questions be for us born and brought up as jw's?.

  our results were enlightening to say the least - we both scored 28/50 - not exactly brilliant although apparently above average.. take the quiz and post your results and comments..

  It's my 1st JWD birthday

  it's my first jwd birthday today and i just wanted to say a hug thank you to everyone on this board.. i am so glad i joined here, looking back over the last year i know i've come a long way.

  i started out here knowing it wasnt the truth but not sure where to go or what to do.

  throughout this year i've learnt so much about myself and feel i am finally being the person i want to be.

  brother giving the talk (bgtt): 'a co told me' (he said that as in god told me), 'the only three reasons for missing a meeting are...' (drum roll) ... 'the three fs'.. me (thinking): wtf?

  Official guide to punishing weak ones

  anyone want to help me put together this guide?

  i think in the goal of "serving united" we need to have consistent standards.

  you know what i'm talking about - when a "friend" of a faithful witness expresses some "weakness" the strong friend will punish the weak one.

  If somebody misses Saturday morning Service or a meeting, and is seen, or has been seen on the same day by a 'strong' brother or sister, that brother or sister will usually be offended, as if the person did them some personal wrong, and will often demand an explanation for why the 'weak' brother or sister missed, as there is no explanation suitable except a sickness which should confine you to your house. Without what the 'strong' brother or sister considers an adequate explanation you may be marked, and the event may be spread round the Congregation, so other 'strong' brothers and sisters can join in on the marking and looking down on the 'weak' brother or sister.

  Even if parts of it are false, does it mean the whole book should be dismissed as inaccurate?
