Come to think of it... Jesus didn't even shun Satan or Judas.

Is shunning scriptural? At all?
by Open mind init's obvious that the jw view of shunning goes way beyond anything called for in the bible.
1 cor 5:11-13 says,(nwt) "but now i am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.
for what do i have to do with judging those outside?

Bible infallible?
by Shawn10538 ini am wondering how many of the folks on this site believe that the bible is the infallible word of god.
post your replies if you are.
can i get an amen?

No I don't think the Bible is infallible, or the word of god.
I could argue that the events recorded in Star Wars are infallible. Just as long as I'm allowed to write any event off as symbolic or

Can God see the future?
by Adolfius ini've been out a while, but i remember thinking about this as a teenager and being confused, (my mother told me i must be posessed by demons to think such things and so never offered me an explanation).
what do the jws say about it.
if jehovah can see into the future, he would've known what a mess he was going to make of creation so he would've decided against it before he even thought of it.. based on the theory that he went ahead and created everything anyway, that must mean he can't see into the future.. i also seem to remember that god doesn't interfere with man, because we have free will, so all our actions are down to us and in no way "steered" or "influenced" by god.. so how can he make predictions about the future, i.e.

Remember Esau...
(Genesis 25:21-23) 21 And Isaac kept on entreating Jehovah especially for his wife, because she was barren; so Jehovah let himself be entreated for him, and Re·bek´ah his wife became pregnant. 22 And the sons within her began to struggle with each other, so that she said: "If this is the way it is, just why am I alive?" With that she went to inquire of Jehovah. 23 And Jehovah proceeded to say to her: "Two nations are in your belly, and two national groups will be separated from your inward parts; and the one national group will be stronger than the other national group, and the older will serve the younger."
Before they were even born, Jehovah predicted that Jacob would inherit the inheritence... And that they would become two different nations.
So Esau really didn't have much of a choice did he? (Maybe he already knew about this and figured he'd trade the inheritance for stew simply because he knew he wasn't gonna get it anyways. )
PLUS that wasn't just an event in those two kids lives that was predicted before they were born. It was the political relationship between two whole nations! So who is the ruler of this world again?

1 Cor 5:11-13 says,(NWT) "But now I am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Do you not judge those inside, while God judges those outside? "Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.""
Once you are disfellowshipped or you DA you are no longer a brother... they aren't even ALLOWED to call you 'brother' anymore. Why did Paul add the qualifier: "called a brother" in there, if that's not what he meant?
This scripture applies to to ACTIVE witnesses, who are sinning. Not the people who officially renounced their position as brother/sister.
This doesn't apply to ex-jws anymore then it applies to people who where never dubs in the first place. If you ain't a brother, then shunning you is not scriptural.

Do you get "tired" of "Apostates/ex-jws" bashing the WT to you?
by booker-t ini know it is good to let out pent up anger for healing purposes, but do you ever get tired of some "apostates or ex-jws" constantly bashing the wt?
for instance when you or having lunch and all they do is say "the evil wt this the evil wt that" during the whole time you are at lunch?
sometimes i just don't feel like hearing it especially when i am at an event for fun.

JW's spend all their time spreading a messege. The Ex-JW's undo it.
A full-time JW can only be counter-balanced by a full-time rant by and Ex-JW.
It restores balance and harmony to the universe.
Fortunately, one apostate is worth fifty publishers.
I don't get sick of it, primarily because I don't know any apostates outside of this board. And obviously they're gonna complain a lot here, that's to be expected.

How about this---If Satan is the god of this system of things, then maybe thats why your religion has gotten by scott free for way too long?
You know, that's a pretty good point. If Satan is the god of this system of things:
- Then why is atheism and satanism frowned upon so much?
- Then why is the WTBTS tax exempt?
- Then why don't the world governments cooperate... after all, Satan wants humans to rule themselves successfully.
- Then why does he try so hard to keep spiritism from being scientifically accepted?

Arguments about the flood.
by Adolfius ini posted a thread yesterday about evolution and population since the flood, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/134218/1.ashx and there were some arguments from the point of view of jw's that would be hard to counter....for me anyway.
but it raised some other questions that i'd like some feedback on.. namely, is it just me who thinks it's just ridiculous that noah could've collected all the animals from across the globe and got them on the ark?.
according to the united nations global biodiversity assesment, there are an estimated 1.75 million species on the planet.

I have an even more embarrassing argument against the Flood. The Witlesses claim that the weight of the water pushed up the mountains, creating a place for the water to go.
And yet the Euphrates. river somehow survived...
(Genesis 2:10-14) 10 Now there was a river issuing out of E´den to water the garden, and from there it began to be parted and it became, as it were, four heads. 11 The first one’s name is Pi´shon; it is the one encircling the entire land of Hav´i·lah, where there is gold. 12 ... 13 And the name of the second river is Gi´hon; it is the one encircling the entire land of Cush. 14 And the name of the third river is Hid´de·kel; it is the one going to the east of As·syr´i·a. And the fourth river is the Eu·phra´tes.
I agree, it's embarassing that I ever accepted this crap to begin with.

Y'Know what's funny?
Even with all those piercings, the shaved head and the beard. You look like a very nice person that I would gladly accept magazines from. (Maybe not THAT magazine, but I'd at least hear you out.)
And then you have the clean shaven, untatooed, unpierced dub drones that are just creepy looking.
