LambsRoar Reply to Mr. Bill Bowen - Slander &am...
by RevMalk into those of you who have had the misfortune of receiving mr. bowen's silentlambs newsletter.
unfortunately mr. bowen feels the need to lie to you all, and slander the name of abuse survivors he claims to protect and serve.
a copy of his most recent attack is below my short response.

Bill does have an enraged "Elder" attitude. It will take time for that to shut down. Bill is abrasive, Bill should not be (IMHO) a person who is in the forefront. In other words, the man has no tact. IMHO, he needs to have someone who is a people person in the forefront of what he is doing.
As far as agenda's...I think the man, despite what is happening in here, has stuck with the agenda of trying to help people. I can't fault him for that.

Letter From Bill Bowen
by Lin inthis message was originally sent out by bill bowen on the silentlambs mailing list: .
i wish to explain some of the events of the last couple of months and let everyone know where silentlambs.org is going from here.
in october of this year i was approached by a webmaster, rev, who offered to provide server space for silentlambs and set up a new website.

I think this has all come down to "he said/she said"
No one knows what happened. No one was there to witness "behind the scenes" scenarios. How can anyon that has not seen it have an opinion. Or at least an "educated" opinion?

I totally disagree. I need to say it again...I do not like Bill's personality. No doubt about that. But the thing is...if you look back...much more damage in words have been against Bill than the other way around. Look it up. Read back what has been said in the past 9 months. Read it with an open mind.

Bill, because of his personality, is an ass and should not be in the forefront talking to others. Just my opinion. Also, it has to be said that NO ONE has been there and personally witnessed any of this stuff. We are all making opinions based on who is in "our faviour." No matter what...if we are not there to see what has happened....we really don't have a clue. This should have all been taken care of behind the scenes if you ask me. IMHO.

Shunning (again!)
by link inelswhere recently started a thread about shunning and i noted that at least ninety per cent of the posters to the thread were from the u.s.of a. and canada and they had had some bad experiences with the problem.. why should this be significant ?.
well it seems to me that the shunning problem in america is far worse than here in the u.k. i know of several persons who have been dissed but i am not aware that shunning is a serious issue for them.
can anyone tell me if shunning causes less of a problem here in the u.k. than it does other places in the world, and if so why?.

I think what also comes into play here is "space." Even while I was a JW and moved from NY to Arizona, it was noticed by many of us that the farther away you got from the headquarters...the more liberal the congregations seemed. And that was just here in the U.S. I can imagine that the same could be said about other countries also.

When the owner/moderator swings waaaay to the left and rejects a good thing for survivors of abuse (ie. deleting a link), or when a family member of mine tries to ruin my name in one or more boards.

Personally I feel that Bill has every right to do whatever he feels is right for "the cause." As personalities go...I am not a big fan of Bill. But what does that matter? No one on this earth pleases everyone. Just because I am not a fan of Bill does not mean that I am not in favour of what he is doing (sorry Bill). Bill is doing a great job! Bill is doing what most of us haven't. I don't care what his motives are. I don't care what anyone thinks of him personally. What Bill is doing is something that the rest of us has not done. Kudo's to you Bill!
Now, to the point I was getting to...As far as Bill stating that he is willing to pay someone to take care of this for him makes perfect sense to me.
First off, it is a tax writeoff. Nothing wrong with that.
********Second, there are no "affiliations" or personal feelings between the "founder" and the "webmaster."***********
Big attention here! No emotional attachments mean no hard feelings and no harsh words towards another in the public arena. Believe me, that hurts. (Especially when it is family.)
I can see Bill's side, I can see the other side.
Why does this have to be such a big deal? Bill has made his point as to what he will allow and what he will not allow. Get on with it, do what you need to do. The only thing I ask is that you don't drag someone's name through the mud. I have been living this crap for 2 months (at least) now, and believe me, it is not fun.
Bill has an agenda he needs to work towards and Rev has an agenda he feels he needs to do. Why is there all this fuss about this? Why are links taken off boards? Why do names have to be named? Why?...Why?...Why?
To me, this looks like children in a schoolyard hurling words, (rocks, fists,...etc.) or whatever it takes to become "King of the Dunghill."
Stop already!!!

I know that my father, my daughter and I all have OCD. My dad counts. Everything! He counts how many swallows it takes to drink a glass of water.
I am also a counter. I remember as a child counting 13 steps in the staircase to our apartment. 13 down, 13 up. Never changed, but I had to do it. I also remember with sidewalks, I had to take 3 steps between "cracks", step over and 3 more. I remember too many times that I would go too fast and the count was off so I might have looked like a drunk walking down the street in halting steps, making sure it was always 3 steps between cracks without stepping on the crack. Today at least I am down to counting the silverware I put in the dishwasher. It used to be that I could not go over multiples of 4 (4,8, 12) or I would let the extras sit in the sink for the next load. Now I still count in multiples of 4 but I can put odd numbers in a slot.
My daughter has a cleanliness problem. Most would say you can't have a cleanliness problem unless you don't care about it at all. Or I can hear them think "You can never be too clean." I have learned you can be too clean. She washes no less than 3 times in the bath/shower. Can you imagine the cost of bath supplies? But worse than that is the leathery skin you get from washing away essential oils from the skin. Today I know immediately if I am getting the truth about her life just by looking at her hands.
I know that there are many out there with worse OCD problems, but when you have any...it can be devastating. For anyone with OCD that interferes with their everyday life, I suggest going to a Dr. and possibly getting some therapy. It can be very debillitating.

All because of the selfishness of one...
by DazedAndConfused inthis experience just blew me out of the water, even though i thought i had heard it all, and have been "out" for many years.. my children (now adults), who have a father still as a jw, heard from said father and step-mom, about a sister in their congregation.
they related how a sister in their congregation (a pioneer) and an elder were reproved at the same time about a year ago.
gossip was, (of course this was by worldly people, since jw's do not gossip) that the 2 of them (the pioneer and elder were fooling around.

You know Utopian you are probably very right about that. Apparently since this has been going on she has improved, by reports from people there, that this woman has been taking more care in her appearance. They see a definite change in her.
Hi Ken, welcome to the board. I am sure you will find that most people on this board are very nice and receptive. Maybe you can tell us a bit about yourself?
