All because of the selfishness of one...

  This experience just blew me out of the water, even though I thought I had heard it all, and have been "out" for many years.

  My children (now adults), who have a father still as a JW, heard from said father and step-mom, about a sister in their congregation. They related how a sister in their congregation (a pioneer) and an elder were reproved at the same time about a year ago. Gossip was, (of course this was by worldly people, since JW's DO NOT gossip) that the 2 of them (the pioneer and elder were fooling around. No biggie in the congregation, but lots of talk.

  Anyway, recently this same sister was disfellowshipped or reproved again and the elder was again reproved or disfellowshipped. I can't remember the details, but that is not important now. Anyway, this time this sister and 3-4 brothers, from 2-3 congregations were in trouble. Apparently this sister had affairs with many brothers. Some were disfellowshipped and some were not. This sisters husband "forgave" her but it broke up a few other marriages.

  When my girls "parents" (I say that loosely) told this to my girls their comment was "Because of the selfishness of one,...3-4 families were destroyed."

  HELLO!!! The sister may have had sex with these "MEN" but why is she to blame when these "MEN" had a choice also? How judgmental. How crude. How JW.

  But,....on the other hand....it only showed to my girls the hypocracy shown. How can I complain? Hehe

  You know DAZED we are all told to put up with each other as JW's and recently the CO gave a talk on how we needed to put up with and not agrivate the elders!! He showed how the people cause Moses to sin by being over critical of him.

  Thing is I say how much PUTTING up do the sheep have to do with OVER BEARING....UN KIND elders.

  When I went to them I was in real need and they kicked me to the curb......and as for fairness to women.....

  I know a young girl dissed not because she wasn't repentant..(she was extreemly sorry!)..but because she was PREGNANT!!! the boy got PRIVATE reproof!!! Because his sin did not show!! She was publicly punished and shunned for being a woman!!

  If a man sins in this manor no one can see but, if a woman does EVERYONE knows! On top of many times she is left to raise the child alone.

  It is the act without the marrage bond that is the sin....not the child!!!

  Acording to the bible children are gifts from Jehovah...not PUNISHMENTS!!

  If Jehovah felt she should have this child then he was blessing her!! Most single moms I know in the truth are saved by thier children because, they are trying so hard to raise them right.....not running wild but putting the child before themselves.

  I can not believe such a barbaric practice as punishing a woman for her feminity is practiced among"God's People"!

  On the other hand I know a woman who's husband is a pasture and she tutors pregnant teens so they don't miss any of thier high school and can graduate on time!! That's LOVE 4 you!!

  By the way....the young girl and her boyfriend got married!!! They're very happy and deeply in love!!

  Thank you for your response. I THINK I get the gist of what you are saying but I am not sure. haha. All I know is that this situation seems to fit a lot of experiences I see here on JWD. I can talk to my parents, who are JW's BTW, and they only go on what they know locally. haha, to them, locally means within their cricle. But the funny thing is, they are 250 miles from the nearest town. But I digress.

  What I am seeing is a whole lot of unfairness and ungodlyless going on, and who is to know? If one only goes by local experience who is to believe the "true" things that happen? Now, granted, the smurf thing got a good go of it....why? Because it was gossip, for one. Two, it backed up the notion that Satan is working against these poor people.

  I feel sorry for the lot.

  The promiscuous jw lady may not be selfish at all. She could be doing it out of insecurity, or she may be a very outgoing, loving soul. 'Course neither of these concepts fit in the judgemental dub world. It's too bad that she can't be herself, without things getting so messy.

  You know Utopian you are probably very right about that. Apparently since this has been going on she has improved, by reports from people there, that this woman has been taking more care in her appearance. They see a definite change in her.
