finn, I was well indoctrinated in the 70's but I still don't remember the cantaloupe & ice cream *sighs*. What I DID look forward to was the turkey slop on a bisquit. Can't rem.....oh, wait....chicken a la king. I looked forward to that. Even though we couldn't afford it....we would go out to eat because that would make my dad sick....EVERYTIME!!!!!!!

by finnrot ini hated growing up as a witness.
i hated the boring ass meetings where you could hear a pin drop on the floor, i hated going door to door and i hated not being normal like the other kids.. but the one thing i liked was going to the assemlies at the oakland coliseum.

I live in the U.S. but I have visited/lived in other countries...Greece, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Austria, and Germany. There are more but they allude me at the moment. My first choice is....ANYWHERE IN THE U.S. Second choice would be Germany. And third would be Canada.

IMHO, this letter is great!!!...but...albeit a bit long for an initial letter.
How about a short and to the point letter letting these people know that the witlesses already have a "Do Not Call" list in effect already? I think that a short, but attention getting, header and then letting these people know that here is an option if they want to take it is there for them. Actually it is there for all of us but if Stratton, already in the news, gets an organised fight against these hypocrites.....maybe there is more incentive for the rest of the world.
I suggest someone getting ahold of the Mayor and letting him know that to be on this list or even to post "NO RELIGIOUS CALLS" signs would do the trick. If I were to contact the Mayor I would also suggest that s/he gets a group of volunteers together to collect names for this purpose...ie. in the Post Office, in front of major stores,....etc.
But in this world of quick and easy information, I would strongly suggest a short and to the point letter/information page. People tend to get bored very quickly if you don't state your purpose rather quickly.

IMO, the "truth" comes from the 10 commandments and what Jesus added to that while He was on earth. Also, IMO, if a movement goes beyond this criteria, they are presuming way too much.
Now, granted, there can be much in the way of arguementation as to (who, what, where, when, and why) but (again IMO, the 10 commandments handles the bulk of what mankind can do).
AGAIN, (IMO), the Jewish Nation lost their special spot in God's heart. Who of us can disagree with that? They rejected the very person whom they were looking for, for many generations.
AGAIN...IMO...once the Jewish Nation lost their favor with God...it becomes an open market for anyone with the right heart condition.
Let's hear that again:
Once the Jewish Nation lost their favor with Jehovah...it is open market for those with a good heart conditon to serve God.
After all, from what I see from ANY Bible...faith is WITH works...it does not say, since Jesus was on earth.
I DO NOT SEE BY THE SCRIPTURES that we are of a race, just that if we have a good heart condition.

Make your predictions here. What will happen...
by sleepy inmake your prediction here.. so what do you think will happen to the society in the next ten years.. theres a big prize waiting here for anyone who gets it right.
a gaint chocolate cake!
which can only be eaten in ten years time.. so i make my prediction first.. 1.the society will have had a major doctrine change as to 1914 and 144,000.. 2.most will leave the org due to disillusionment.. 3.there will be a breakaway group of more fanatical witness they will be the orthodox witnesses.. there will also be a group of the liberal witnesses but will not last as long while the other group will grow.. do i win the cake?

Jesus died on a stake or a cross?
by 2SYN inthis is something i've been puzzling over recently.
just for argument's sake, let's say that jesus did exist - was he murdered on a stake or on a cross?
this is puzzling me, because the only real research i've ever read on the subject was in wtbts publications, and since this is obviously a highly questionable source of documentation, i'd love it if someone here could point me to a scientific resource for finding out the truth about this...thx.... the earlier in the forenoon you take the sun bath, the greater will be the beneficial effect, because you get more of the ultra-violet rays, which are healing.

gumby, I would really be interested in the quoted information you are speaking about. From what I remember, there was a to do about the method. It seemed to make a major difference in accepting the JW "way".
Personally, I don't care how he died, what matters to me is that he sacrificed himself for me. Cross/stake what does it really matter?

I know that the Mormon's call it the truth. It was weird when I was friends with a few and it was almost like talking to a Witless.

Pretty sneaky if you ask me
by Jourles inif you go to http://www.watchtower.org/statistics/worldwide_report.htm you will find the latest stats from the january watchtower for the "worldwide work.
" i find it quite amusing that they intentionally left out the rate of increase/decrease stats over the year 2000. i guess it looks a hell of a lot better leaving that negative info off the page.. as always, if you have an ip address that can be tracked to your identity and you want to remain anonymous to the borg, do not click directly on the link above as the watchtower will "see" a log entry with a referal from this site.
copy and paste it to a new browser window.

You are right! I was using a small calculator and I noticed when I went to redo it....it dropped the 8 in the total number of hours. I used the computer calculator. But still, that is not as good as it should be considering that there are all sorts of pioneers. By all sorts I mean "Temporary" and "Regular".
