What if . . .
by Justin inthe wts had continued to keep older publications (russell, rutherford, etc.
) in print for those who wanted to do historical research?
it seems that people are now learning about "old light" and doctrinal changes when they begin to become disillusioned, but if they knew about these matters when they were still zealous jws, perhaps they wouldn't be so shocked later.

Brain teaser
by osmosis inhere is a question that actually makes my jw aunt feel uncomfortable.. er, rather, she admits that this question makes her uncomfortable.. a very prevalent argument for the existence of god is the apparent complexity of the known universe.
this complexity, believers say, is proof positive that the universe was created.
we couldn't just appear out of nowhere, the big bang can't actually explain things.

A new cult idea -- or is it
by osmosis in.
i've been thinking.
some of us may remember getting to celebrate christmas, and i wonder if any of those remember being told by adults to go to bed early christmas eve, so santa would be there sooner.. why not start one of those suicide cults based on the same premise, if we all kill ourselves the new system will be here sooner.. or has this been done already..

New Orleans hurricane
by osmosis inone of the things i keep hearing about by the jws, is just how organised, efficient and selfless the borg and its flock were in immediately swooping down to no after the hurricane and doing everything possible to help the afflicted, believers and non-believers alike, without stopping for photo shoots or any such propoganda campaign.. it seems to me they want to avoid issues such as their cult-like nature, by painting themselves as saints who give their all for their fellow human -- "they're good people so don't question their faith, because that is what makes them good people".. and i've wondered, really wondered, what really happened down there... i don't believe their version of it for a minute, and figure there had to be something in it for them... maybe they only helped other witnesses or something... it just can't be the way it's being sold to me... anyone know what really happened?
this seems like an internal propoganda campaign to further convince the faithful witness that s/he is doing god's work.
a little too good to be true.

JWs abusive by nature.. ?
by osmosis inthe current pop psychology about cults is drawing a very strong parallel between cult victims and "battered woman syndrome".
1. the woman believes that the violence was her fault.. 2. the woman has an inability to place the responsibility for the violence elsewhere.. 3. the woman fears for her life and/or her children's lives.. 4. the woman has an irrational belief that the abuser is omnipresent and omniscient.. i myself have noticed certain abusive patterns in my relationships with my jw relatives.
a lot of it comes from my dad and now when i think about it, i think of it as manipulative, "jedi mind tricks" he tries to play on me.. has anyone else noticed manipulative and/or downright abusive undercurrents among jws?

"Jehovah ... O King of the nations" Jer 10:7 -Jehovah is King of Nth & Sth
by hallelujah inwho should not fear you, o king of the nations, for to you it is fitting; because among all the wise ones of the nations and among all their kingships there is in no way anyone like you".
the reference new world translation even refers to jeremiah 10:7 - jehovah being the king of the nations.
bible references direct us to psalms 22:28 - "the kingship belongs to jehovah and he is dominating the nations".
