Your self esteem dubs and how to boost it?

how was your self esteem during your jw days, did the dubs do things that elevated or lowered it?

what things boost it now that you are outside the org?

as a dub i didn't like the lack of cordiality, it was a society that was socially impenetrable and that made me feel unwanted, something that undermined my sense of self esteem.

I remember my circle of JW friends when i was just finishing high school and planning to become a regular pioneer. I went through a period of deep depression and went to the elders about it. I made some close friends with the elders who spent time with me at coffee shops in the evening, conversations in the back of cars, mornings in service together, personal letters of encouragements, prayers together. The presiding overseer photocopied a bunch of old watchtower and awake articles and highlighted sections he thought would lift me up. His son-in law was also an elder who lived in the basement of his house and together they purchased a suit for me and long underware for doing service in the winter months. Those letters and memories gave me strength in later years through difficult moments. It was difficult to lose those friends.

finding out jehovah's witnesses were a cult on a number of occasions individuals would warn.

Finding out Jehovah's Witnesses truly fit the definition of a cult was not the biggest shock of my life. Finding out how low people would sink and still claim to be God's one true channel caught my attention.

Well I would definitely look into legal aspects. I was not doing this for profit. In fact that is what has turned myself off of personally with many x-JW ministries that seem to be exploiting the situation just a little bit. This would be a group project and nothing would be quoted or displayed without everyone seeing the final copy in complete context and agreeing to it. I was just watching the Jeremiah film on Jehovah's Witnesses again Beardo. Its amazing how the times change so quickly-the internet is definitely a contributer to that. I was also watching the documentary: "Children of Jehovah" done in 1994. Did anyone see that? They aired it here in Canada on CBC, using the Kingdom Halls, Norval Assembly Hall, the Canada Branch in Georgetown and individuals in the Greater Toronto Area.

With this video we want to take a present look at the organizations and propose the question why Jehovah's Witnesses choose to remain in the organization after all is said in done (namely all the media exposure so far convincing many beyond a doubt that the organization has serious flaws making it impossible to truly be an organization channel of salvation by a holy and truthful God)

Thanks for the reminder Auldsoul. I have never really kept a low-profile since I was disfellowshipped 8 years ago. The witnesses know my friends and how to keep tabs on me if they so desire. I could really care less to be honest as long as they dont harrass me directly.

Just to throw out some questions here i want to use on my video..

In you personal opinion.. why do people join the watchtower? Leave the watchtower? and in some circumstances return. I realize there are the reasons that are given at face value but what are the REAL REASONS? Is it so much theology as it is emotional attachments? ie leaving because your spouse or family member you love has left or lost faith.

Also... does anyone know any good site with JW membership statistics over the years right back to the begining? (That also includes disfellowhipping figures). I could only find current figures and the figures surrounding 1975.

I was looking for a webpage that has a listing of all the video documentaries published on jehovah's witnesses and where you can order them. i have been able to find sites with miscellaneous documentaries along with transcripts-but not a webpage where you can actually order them. The best i could find was this page:

and even this page doesnt allow you to order copies of all of them and it doesnt say specifically which date it was aired on. I also found another good page but all it focused on was sexual abuse. I was told that cbc did a program years back on shunning but i havent been able to find it. If you could help me it would be greatly appreciated. If you can help me please email me [email protected]
